Went into Henry's (Marda Loop location) to buy a shirt and pocket square. So glad I did. Mentioned my son's up-coming wedding, and the woman asked if I had a suit, and would I like to bring it in to check the fit. So glad she asked. The suit is 12 years old, and I'm 50 lbs lighter! Long story short, I would have looked ridiculous, but instead, I was the second best-dressed man at the wedding last weekend. Thanks Henry. Henry's Tailoring lost me as a loyal customer. I've been bringing my clothes (blazers, coats, pants) here for the past 3 years. My most recent experience will not have me going back. Things have gone downhill.. dramatically I brought 4 new dress shirts to have them shortened. Henry shortened the shirts to the correct length and moved the plackets (which is the right way), but the overall work was extremely shoddy - stitching over the original stitching, stitching that missed altogether, and not bothering to finish stitching on the back side (which isn't noticeable until you roll up the sleeve) at all. I figured no problem, I'll bring them back as it's probably a mistake. Boy was I wrong. As others have noted, Henry happily obliged to fix my shirts. But after THREE TIMES going back and forth, I've given up. I don't trust the workmanship here anymore. You'd figure after the 1st re-fix, you'd spend a bit more time to get it right. 3 fixes later, still not right. In the end, I paid $25 to ruin a $100 shirt times 4 shirts I've should've listened to my gut all these years. The shop is always in a constant disarray with customer's shirts strewn all over the place, hit and miss deadlines. These were clear warning signs that the operation in the front of house was reflected in the back of house And believe me, I've tried. I've given Henry's Tailoring numerous times to get it right. Most egregious of all was that I actually brought a 2nd batch of 8 shirts to get done while he was fixing my 1st batch. He told me he was busy because of wedding season, so I tell him no rush. He says 2 weeks. I swing by 2 weeks later, still not done. So I tell him take as long as possible to do the job right. Says another 2 weeks. I come back 2 weeks later (1 month now), and he didn't even start! I took my shirts back at that point realizing that he didn't care. In hindsight, I'm glad as that would've been another 8 ruined shirts. read more

Just OK tailor, took several pants, suits here- typical good customer- not demanding on time, pay in cash, don't need receipt kind of customer. They don't sell custom shirts, so I have to go overseas for MTM. Idea was get henry to measure me- send over the specs no big deal. OH no they don't do that, henry said he will get fired- uh henry your name is on the door- liar. Oh he says my "partner" will fire me- liar. here is $40 bucks cash, measure me. Had to beg almost, as soon as a customer comes it he basically shoos me off- me in suit- what the hell? Never coming back. And posting a negative review- thanks henry you jerkoff. maybe your partner should fire you, I have. read more

this is my first experience with a tailor, but they did a fantastic job. I went to the Marda Loop location to get a Super Dry brand wool jacket re-lined. It's a bit of a complicated jacket, with several interior pockets, double collar and double breasted. It is one of few pieces of clothing that I have invested money into, so i was weary about making it worse when the lining got torn on it, but Henry's did a great job, matched the material to the jacket and it is as good as new! They'd even re-sewn the patches and accoutrement on top of the new lining to match the original look, nice touches. I don't know much about tailoring costs, but given the job and complexity, getting the coat re-lined for $110 seemed like a great deal to me, and i am happy with the outcome. read more

Took in a Dolce & Gabbana three piece suit to have several alterations made: pants hemmed, sleeves taken up, and vest taken out. Great technical tailoring with honest suggestions. I like my pants cut a bit shorter (around ankle length) and Henry suggested a slight taper in the pants to give better proportional balance. Henry also managed to keep the surgeon cuffs on the jacket despite having to take up the sleeves quite a few inches. This was pleasantly surprising to me because no tailor at Holts or Harry Rosen has ever been able to do this for me. He was also honest about the limitations of shortening the sleeves through the armhole. Overall, Henry's Tailoring provides one of the finest tailoring services in all of Calgary. read more

very disappointed , bought a new shirt and took it to herny's tailoring because of the reviews here. Shirt was cut it way too short ( I even bought a shirt for sample to show him what I wanted) . He told me I just need to wear my pants higher... anyway long story short. I wouldn't not recommend anyone to bring the cloths to Henry's Tailoring , very unprofessional read more

Typically this shop has done a great job on my shirts and pants, but I have had some issues. That said, if something isn't done correctly this shop will redo the piece gratis, which I've had to do a few times. However, the reason I'm writing this review is because I'm wearing a pair of pants and a shirt that I had done at Henry's tailoring that were taken back a total of three times. THREE TIMES. I'm still not happy with the fit. I feel that after three times the pieces should be flawless, but they still suffer from the same issues. (I admit that this is partly my fault for not trying them on the last time I picked them up--although I was of the mind that there was no way the pieces could still be off after a third alteration. I was wrong: Arm sleeves and pant legs are still way too tight). I'll likely still go here since it's less than a block from my house, but I'll probably take this shirt and pants to Sam at A-Plus Tailors. He's done a bang-up job on a suit for me before and the only reason I don't go there more often is because of distance and business hours. I'm speculating, but it seems that when Henry is working at this location (on 34th Ave SW) and takes my measurements the items turn out well; but when the other employee there (I think his wife?) takes my measurements it seems more likely that I'll have to bring the piece back for touch-ups. Again, this is speculation since there's other factors to consider here, like who actually tailor's the pieces, which I have no information about. read more

pretty good- typical tailor not really going to be helpful on the whole look or whether or not you should even bother altering. brought a beater in to see if good or not- its the only way. the bait: jacket slightly out of date, shiny from dry cleaning, need it taken in- no questions asked. this is the thing about tailors, unlike mechanics they never tell you or ask why or tell you if its worth it. a mechanic will tell you, buy a new car or that its not worth it for certain repairs. That always bugs me about tailors- they will tell you are fat or have hunched shoulders but never that the item is not worth it. so pretty good job, some threads hanging, price was good, turnaround very fast. best I have found here. pay cash, Chinese hate paying taxes. read more

Got a couple of two piece, single breasted suits done. Excellent work and great fabrics. Henry dominates the suit game.

I took an expensive winter coat to the Marda Loop location to have the zipper replaced. The lady there charged me $75 for the zipper and did a terrible job. They didn't have the zipper the exact length as the coat, so they cut one to make it fit. The edges where the zipper was cut was left raw and frayed. On top of it, the zipper is far too big and does not work with the coat and the whole thing is sewn in crooked and the seams look terrible. I now have to figure out how to fix this or say goodbye to this coat. Extremely upset and very disappointed with this entire experience, especially considering the many positive reviews on here for Henry's Tailoring. read more
