ZERO STAR RATING!!!! Thank you Stitch It Sunridge Mall for WRECKING my daughters grad dress and being late with the dress. It cost me $200, your customer service is not even service, and the person who sewed the dress left it to fray with no finished edges. There are no straight sew lines on the dress after you "altered" it. I will continue writing reviews to help others not lose money and I will be posting pics as well. The dress doesn't fit properly. They are not seamstresses that work here, please don't be fooled. Pay up front and no refunds. If they can't do a good job in the first place, why do they think we can continue to give them our items to try make it better? Please reconsider. We have talked to police officers who take their items here as they are contracted to alter and hem their clothing and they said Stitch It can't ever get their uniforms correct. Two different pant legs is not a proper job. Stitch It only wants to correct the problems on the dress and after 3 days they only made it worse with no refund. If you can't provide the service you shouldn't be paid. $200 later, no refund, a grad dress thats worse than we started with and 4 days until she wears her grad dress. Feeling beyond frustrated. Based on the two previous reviews, I went here to get my leather jacket sleeves shortened. As I am a shortie, I have had to alter a lot of clothes, and have come to know tailors and seamstresses across Calgary. This place is at the top of the bar. They are located by Sears, right across Boston Pizza on the 2nd floor. I came in and this very young man came out to assist me. It took me by surprise as I expected someone a little bit older with more experience. Well, this young man was as knowledgeable and knew how to pin as well as anyone I have ever seen. He also had a couple of recommendations and tips. Overall, he may be young, but he knew what he was doing. Also extremely polite. The cost was very reasonable, and when I returned to pick it up, it was done at the time promised and pressed. Perfect length, and when I inspected the sleeves, it was like it was done at factory. Overall, great customer service, great price, I will never go anywhere else as long as these people are running this place. read more

I just tried this place today, based partly on Tiffany's review, and while no part of my experience was QUITE as good as her review suggested, it was all still rather positive on the whole. I had to get 2 pairs of pants hemmed that couldn't have been any different - one was a standard pair of jens that I wanted to try this concept of keeping the same hem on. After all, this was my first time getting a professional hemming done (I usually have family do it) which means I'm used to having my jeans stitching just run off the bottom of the leg and end. When I picked them up sure enough, there it was. Looking closely enough one could quite easily see where they've half hidden the hemming job just above the stitching, but considering not many people will get that close to the bottom of a pair of pants, it didn't bother me too much. The other pair was a pair of work uniform pants I had to get done. My company orders uniform pants in VERY generic sizing, so all pants come in way too long for MOST people that size, with the ends of the legs still rough and hideous, because they plan on people having to get them hemmed to avoid having to get different lengths, so there was no look to preserve. That being said, the woman I spoke to asked me a bunch of questions about how high I wanted the sitching, what kind of stitching I want in it (see: things I know nothing about and couldn't answer to save my life.) So I just kind of smiled and nodded my way through the conversation and eventually just told her to do what they thought was best. What came back looked great (subtle, but that's what they needed.) All in all, everything was just a couple notches below what Tiffany suggested though. The hem that preserved the original stiching cost a few bucks more than she said, and despite not seeming very busy at all, I was told to come and pick them up 4 hours later, instead of one. That being said, none of this was unreasonable (especially considering the previous place I called wanted 3 days for the same job). 19/30 If I want to buy pants anywhere, I have to be resigned to the fact that wherever I go, pants are going to be 6" too long. Enter Stitch It. For $15, they can hem a pair of jeans for me and keep the original hem (referred to there as a European Hem). On days that aren't too busy, they can do it in an hour and I can keep shopping and them pick them up on my way out the mall. If I go to F21 and pick up one of their $15 pairs of jeans, this means I can get a pair of jeans that fit properly for $30. Sold. Aside from hemming, they can also tailor your clothes to fit you better for a reasonable price. I haven't gotten that done yet here, but it could be a good thing to do with birthday and Xmas presents that I've gotten in years past that I never wear because they're too big :). read more

I came here in an urgent situation as I was rushing to a wedding that evening and needed a dress hem stitched up a little bit. The initial hem took about an hour and a half. When I picked up the dress, it was way to small for me. I couldn't fit it over my shoulders through the top, and I couldn't fit through the side either! When explaining this to the (tall blonde) lady working there, she decided to speak to me as if I didn't know how to wear clothes and that I must not be putting it on right. At this point I was completely offended and annoyed with her. I asked her if she could un-sew a little bit and she told me that it would take an HOUR to take apart 2 inches of thread. This was appalling! Throughout all of this she maintained such a terrible attitude, I have never received such horrible service. I will never come back here again! I am writing this review in hopes that others don't make the same mistake by taking their business to this establishment. read more

Wish I could give them zero stars. Before going to this tailor, check out the hidden Yelp reviews (they are all negative).. I wish I had before bringing my bridesmaid dress in to be altered. I'm sure that this place is fine for a simple hemming job, but DO NOT bring anything expensive that you need fitted. My expensive dress was completely ruined My dress needed to be taken in, hemmed, and the strap adjusted. 1st visit: The tailor grabbed at the dress and pinned it, didn't seem to be very careful or really examine what would need to be done. I figured it must just be a simple job and didn't question it. 2nd visit: Tried on the dress again, still way too big, and yet.. too small at the armpits. The strap wasn't anywhere close to fitting. Let her pin it again and tried to get her to take it in the back instead of the sides but she said no 3rd visit: Tried it on and the dress wouldn't even zip!! It was AT LEAST a size too small. At this point it is getting very close to the wedding. The tailor apologized and said she left the fabric in the seams and would let it out. She didn't bother to measure or anything.. just said she'd take it out an inch 4th: went back. Fit exactly the freaking same. Took small to zip, strap didn't fit. I asked for my money back (which they gave me, and I'm going to be going back for the FULL COST of the dress) and rushed it to another tailor. She opened it, found that there was no extra fabric in the seams, and also pointed out that the seams Stitch It had made were bulky and crooked. It looks horrible. My new tailor has to take off the entire zipper, create triangles out of a new fabric and sew in an extension that is going to visible when I wear the dress. Do not take your nice clothes here!!! The job was the worst I've ever gotten and it spanned weeks before they had finally ruined it beyond repair. read more

Went there to get alteration done on a suit jacket purchased at Mexx in the same mall. Was told by sales associate from Mexx that they offered a 10% discount on alterations if you bring your receipt. I received zero service from anyone in this small closet of a store. Literally no one even acknowledged me despite standing there holding clothes and trying them on. The lady at the desk continued to chat to a friend who wasn't even purchasing anything. Just rambling on about the weather store hours and what shift who was working. I finally packed up all my clothes and left, and finally heard and "excuses me sir!" as I was exiting. If I could give them no stars I would. I brought a dress in to get hemmed and as I walked in I didn't get any acknowledgement from any of the staff members. I could see 3 of them in the back talking amongst themselves. About 7 minutes had past and still nothing. They couldn't even give a simple hi or make a little eye contact letting me know that they at least knew I was there. I won't be back that's for sure - I'll take my dress elsewhere. read more

I've used them about 5 times over the past year because they are convenient and brought 3-4 items each time. 25% of the time they get it right. I've had to give 3 items to goodwill after they worked on the. I won't be back. Even something as a simple taper to the leg of a pair of jeans was screwed up. read more

I brought a dress in to be hemmed. They didn't finish the alternation on time so I had to return to the mall a second time to pick it up. When I finally got my dress, it was way too small for me. Went to The store at Market mall. The service is really poor. Needed to wait a week to get job done ( asking to take my short sleeve off- take off the frill around arnh and charged $19.43). I went to pick up at 1pm and they told me they were working on it, asked me back 30-45 mins. I went back 2pm and they still not got job done. They asked me to wait 15 mins more. I gave them 30 mins and guess what....they still not finish job yet. They shouldn't promise customers if they cannot finish their job on time as they provide date to ask customers to pick up. Very Disappointed. It's not worth the price. I have seen good review of Stitch It! online so I brought three of my pants to get the hemline shortened. The first pants was to shorten with plain serged hem. The hemline was crooked and there was an overlap on the stich. I personally think that it is fine to overlap the stiches as long as they come across and form a single line. But no, the stitch formed a second line which was very noticeable because they are 2 mm apart. The second pants was jeans with Euro hem, the loose stiches were hanging. Having paid 18.50 for the second pants, it is only fair that the loose stiches be cut and cleaned up as well. But that was not the case. For the third pants, there was a charge of 6 bucks just for a single stich repair just below the zipper. The hemline alteration is a separate charge of 9 bucks. The hemline of the third jean was crooked as well. I was looking forward for a professionally done alteration but this alter station didn't reach my expectation. I threw away 45 bucks for a repair that my mother could have done herself. read more

Went in to get a pair of pants shortened, the place was lined up and the girl out front kept switching between custom never completely hearing what they wanted before jumping over to the next customer. When I returned the two days later I found that my pants had been shortened too much. They offered to fix them and at first wanted us to come back tomorrow. When we refused saying we needed them today, they reluctantly offered to fix them in an hour. When I went back an hour later, I tried them on again and they were now longer, but uneven. One leg was longer than the other. Again they offered to fix it, this time making us wait a half hour. The girl at the front tried telling us the pants themselves were uneven, however when I took them off and lined the pants up, the hem was clearly at a different length from one leg to the other. When we finally got them back they were fixed, however still shorter than I would've liked. We had to ask for our money back. The workmanship here is terrible. I will not be back. My company has chosen stitch it to provide alterations for uniforms. I decided to use the cross iron stitch it location in the evening. I have to say...I have never been treated so poorly. The two female employees were rude and quite disrespectful...if you need to have work done possibly try a different location. read more

Horrible customer service. Waited forever to get assistance and they did a sloppy job on my $300 dress. I will never go back and I would recommend people to stay away. I would give it 0 stars but it won't let me. If you want to keep using your clothes I would recommend finding a better alteration place. read more
