I spent so much money last year ALONE, was excited to use all my earned rewards bucks only to be told flippantly by new owner they were no longer honored. Sorry, SOL. Looks like they've also raised their prices, so looks like I won't be making the drive to Emmaus anymore. We're taking down our Herbein-purchased Christmas Tree on December 27th! It is dead, brown and shedding needles like mad. We purchased our Balsam Tree for $60. It was kept watered, but must have been cut too early. We have been married for 47 years and have purchased many trees over the years and this was the worst experience we've ever encountered. We're very disappointed and will never be back to Herbein's again. read more

Although the selection is decent, I would recommend not coming here unless you don't mind being treated rudely when you are supporting a small business such as this one. I don't normally post a review, but I felt the need to post this one. I stopped by with my 2.5 year old in tow to pick up garden gloves and browse their selection of Fall flowers. The woman working rolled her eyes, more than once, when coming across my daughter. I apologized for her if she was in her way and she said nothing. It was very cold and unfriendly and I am not sure why she treated us that way. I was then carded for my ID for the pair of $6.99 garden gloves, which is pretty uncommon. I purchased 4 clamatis from them within the last month. One is almost dead. They said that could not guarantee their plants since they did not plant them. I know for a fact that other garden centers such as Home Depot guarantees their plants. I will not purchase any more items from them. There are many other garden centers in the area that I can spend my money. read more

Herbein's is where I go for my plant and garden stuff instead of Home Depot. The large flower pot I needed was $49.99 at Home Depot and $21.99 at Herbein's. Also when I get soil, Herbein's has a bigger selection. If you are also looking for Pro-Mix and better PH balanced soil, Herbein's has it. Your money is better spent here. read more

I just had an outstanding experience today at this store. From the moment I walked in I felt like I was actually welcome and appreciated. Everyone there is so friendly! I had purchased a Willow tree and needed to get it home on my trailer. Mind you I live 45 minutes away...... The guys outside took the utmost care to make sure no damage would be done to my new tree. As I stood back and watched them wrap this tree up like a Christmas present, I thought wow!! I know that Lowe's or Home Depot would never have done this! Not even some of their local competitors would have either. That sold me..... Everything is about customer service nowadays. If you don't believe that, you must not be in business or ever buy anything in person. My hats off to Jake and the other crew of guys that helped load and wrap my tree. Especially Jake, that mans knows his stuff. Like seriously! I consider him an expert at his job. Be sure to ask for him if you need help. I think he's been working there over 300 years or something...... He's the man Thanks to all that made my experience today an awesome one! Great job read more

Herbein's is a great locally owned garden center with very knowledgeable employees. At the peak of the spring planting season they even have a keyboardist playing easy listening tunes outside in the plant area adjacent to the building. They have a great selection of specialty fertilizers and soil amendments like mushroom compost which I use on all my potted plants soil. Customer service is great, if they don't know the answer to your question they will find the answer for you. One of my favorite garden centers in the Lehigh Valley. read more

They have one of the largest selections of trees in the Lehigh Valley. Easy stop for my Emmaus friends. And they aren't afraid to tell you what they don't have (I went in looking for dwarf citrus trees...which apparently you can't buy at any greenhouse in the Valley). Watch their website/Facebook for sales. Limited hours in the off season but better during late spring/summer/early fall. read more

Purchased 2 large trees at Herbeins last year. A London plane tree and Nellie Stevens holly. The holly had a bare spot when I purchased it early in the spring. The owner assured me it was from a harsh winter but it would come back no problem. The London plane tree I bought had curling leaves after it was planted and the leaves dropped in mid July. I returned to herbeins to describe the situation and the owner assured me it was from a lack of water. I watered the plant with a slow drip hose every day last year and it did not clear up the problem. This year same issues with both trees. Had a tree service out this year to diagnose problems. My holly has no leaves at all on one side. The London plane still has curling dropping leaves. The tree service diagnosed the London plane with anthracnose (fungal infection) which could also be the issue with the holly. Sounds like herbeins had a fungal infestation at their nursery. Very disappointing now that my warranty is void at this point. I do a lot of gardening and am very upset that I spent about $800 on trees with fungal infections. Cannot recommend them for larger trees although perhaps the annual flowers and perennials may be fine. read more
