We stopped in for a late lunch here while driving through town as there weren't too many non-chain options. I'm not really sure how this place gets such great reviews because it's really nothing special at all. Our server was really nice and service wasn't an issue here. The menu is extensive and has a lot options, all Greek, obviously. While there's nothing really wrong with the food, it's just not spectacular and nothing stands out. It's slightly overpriced for the quality and quantity. The weirdest thing was getting potatoes as a side. If you choose them, you will literally get 3 huge potatoes just cut in half on your plate. It was really weird and out of place. No dressing or making it look pretty; just hunks of apples of the earth! The Caesar salad is pretty bland with fake bacon bits and processed Parmesan cheese. Nothing special. Lastly, the location is less than desirable. It was a beautiful day so we sat on the patio. It's on a busy stretch of so there's lots of traffic and it's very noisy so it's terrible if you want to talk. If you're still going, have a glass of the Fix Greek beer. My overall review is that it is not a lot of food for a lot of money. I had been wanting to come here for a while because it was recommended by a co-worker, but in the end, I was disappointed. I ordered the falafel with a side of lemon potatoes and the falafel sandwich. Of all these items the potatoes were my favourite, but not worth the price. I could believe the falafels cost around $8 and it was the smallest portion I had ever seen. It did come with hummus which was very tasty. Even the sandwich was small. The other downer was that it didn't come with pickled turnip, which is my favourite part. I would skip this place and try somewhere else in town. read more

Always my favorite place to go when I'm in Sudbury! Great portions, fresh ingredients and always delicious. I would suggest dinning in instead of take out, just so you can have your meal fresh. The staff is always attentive and the atmosphere is welcoming. #1 Greek in the city.... Better then anything from Greek town in Toronto. read more

I know take out is almost never as good as what you get in the restaurant, and that may be the case here. The souvlaki skewers were very small. Most of the other food was pretty good but not the portions we are used to at other Greek restaurants in southern Ontario. read more

I've probably ordered the different souvlakis at Herc's in excess of 20 times and here are my observations. Pros: -Absolutely mammoth proportions if you order the souvlaki plates -Variety on the plate: lemon potatoes, 2 skewers of meat (chicken, lamb, beef, pork are the options), garlic parmesan toast, tzatziki sauce, rice pilaf and greek salad. Everything I could want on a plate -Restaurant is setup for speed: you order at a fast-food type cash register then sit down as they bring it to you. Tipping not really required. A bit quirky but it works. Cons: -Souvlaki is a bit costly, I believe a couple of them are now over $16. It's too bad they didn't have a more reasonably sized souvlaki plate for somewhere around $10-11. -Many people will not be able to finish a souvlaki by themselves, it is simply too big -terrible breath after eating, the worst . Bring a mint. Bring a box of mints! -They typically overcook almost all of their meats without fail, but that's what the tzatziki is for! You don't head to Herc's if you want fine dining or a nice atmosphere, you go there if you're very hungry for perfectly acceptable greek food. read more

I make my way to Herc's at least once a month. Their food is great, the portions are a bit small. I need to order 2 souvlaki pitas to be satisfied. No onions and garlic sauce instead of tzatziki.very tasty. their lemon potatoes are a 10/10. read more
