I was in room 1214 and I think it was one of the best rooms in the hotel because it was on the highest level with a balcony and the view of the Skytower was completely unobstructed. It was also very close to many restaurants. We had a king sized bed with a pillow top mattress aka heaven. I slept solidly each night. The room came with standard amenities ... 2 robes, ironing board, washing/drying machine in the bathroom, TV. We chose to valet for $45/night for simplicity. There is no self-park. Really my only complaints were regarding the bathroom. It was just set up so inefficiently and awkwardly. The toilet paper is nearly behind you, instead of just bedside you. There is hardly any bathroom countertop area when they had plenty of room to build it out. There's only one very small towel rack that was actually pointing downward, so the towel always ended up on the floor. Yuck! The shower was pleasant, with great water pressure and a removable shower head. The other negative is no fan and noise here easily travels to the bedroom. Other amenities include an indoor pool, outdoor tennis court (with turf needing repairs), and large scale outdoor chess. I have no sense of direction so I found the hotel layout itself confusing. The hotel had 2 lobbies, two front desks. The hotels are connected by a link over the street.

The gym is quite small and had one broken treadmill that didn't have a sign so I'm not sure if staff are aware of it. Our rooms didn't include breakfast, but we were excited to try it. We ended up disappointed because the hostess gave us two menus and told us to sit anywhere. There's prices for a la carte and buffet and we opted for the buffet and just went up to get food. A staff member stopped us and asked if we were doing the buffet and then told us she'd bring us the bill so we could sign our room. It felt like maybe a staff member should have brought us to our seat and asked us what we wanted to prevent being stopped at the food counter and having guest and staff play a guessing game. The breakfast selection is mediocre. Another table was sat and the staff member who stopped us was quick to go to their table and explain the menu choices to them so I'm not sure if it's a lack of consistency or if they need more staff during the breakfast shift because it seemed like it was just her and the hostess working. Staff was also slow to clear tables.

After reviewing the map of the Auckland central business district (CBD) and where the Sky Tower was, I knew I wanted to stay by the harbor, with a view and reasonably priced. That's when I came across M Social Viaduct Harbor. From Google Maps and looking at YouTube videos, the hotel was in the midst of it all. My first encounter with them was a few weeks earlier when I learned that M Socials last check-in time was midnight. Unfortunately, because my flight was schedule to land at 9:45 pm, having to get through customs and waiting for Uber, we'd be cutting it close. So I emailed M Social and they assured me that we could check-in after midnight, no rush since they knew how long customs could take. What a relief. When we got there, a little after 11 pm, I was told our room was upgraded to the 12th floor which is the highest floor. I was told "The harbor view is great up there." And it is!!! All the rooms face the harbor and all rooms have a view!!! The higher you are the better the view. And when we got to our room, we had a signed card from the employees along with Easter candy because I didn't realize it was Easter weekend when I booked our flights. The room was clean with modern and youthful aesthetic. And the price? I can't believe it is one of the least expensive hotels along the harbor. It was between $129 - $189/night. Of course, Weekends are higher price. And, laundry is free. We just had to pay for laundry detergent. No dryer sheets in Auckland, though. People in NZ said I had an American accent. But they're the ones with accents... lol. Auckland is also a melting pot. The front staff were mainly Filipino, Vietnamese, and Chinese. So they had their native accent along with the English accent. But everyone was so kind to us. And they have a restaurant that is open for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late night socializing. Although we only had apps and drinks, the food was really good and non-alcoholic drinks were refreshing. As much as I want to gatekeep M Social, I also want to praise the staff members and hope everyone can enjoy your time staying at this wonderful establishment.

We were quite happy laxing in the spa and sipping on bubbly... which brings me to my next point, there were no unwanted staff members nosying around saying we couldn't drink in the pool... an unexpected added bonus! There was one on the bed and found two more that night. I'm not sure where they come from. As you can see in the picture, the refrigerator is tiny and so was the area to make coffee or tea. However, it's in a sort of out of the way cul de sac, so some buses may have trouble getting in. Not a problem - just make arrangements together rides near the Sky Tower or at the church at the end of the block. This, like most of Auckland, is a bit hilly. Prepare to go up and down hill a lot. Good tv and good wifi were pluses. Comfortable and clean. I was a bit disturbed by the lack of a deadbolt on the door, and for some reason, there was a door to another room attached to mine, but I couldn't open it (and I heard my "neighbors" try it as week, which was unnerving.) Nice place if you're staying in Auckland for a few days.

The room is a good size! It's not huge, but it has everything you could want -- a full kitchen (oddly, missing paper towels), space to move around, a TV with some good options and a nice bathroom (stay tuned). There's even a washer and dryer! Staff is so friendly -- they were really my first introduction to New Zealand, and I was really pleased. Now, some words of caution: * This hotel is on a hill. Auckland itself is full of hills. Unless you're taking a taxi, Uber or driving, you're going to have to walk uphill from the bus stop. It's rather steep. * Housekeeping is interesting. They made my bed and emptied the trash bin, but that's it. No towel service. * The bathtub in my room was rather gross, with pink mold around the caulking. A bit of bleach would fix that up. It's a bad blemish on an otherwise stellar stay! * Wifi is horrendous. I don't know if this is a NZ thing or unique to this property, but I'm glad my phone got a decent LTE signal here so I could use it. If you prepare with these things in mind, your stay will be a nice one. I'd come back (but I'd also probably go buy some bleach and paper towels).

The venue is not only perfect for church services but for other events such as weddings, birthday parties and anniversaries. The price for hiring the venue is also very affordable and there is plenty of parking on the side of the building and in front of it. The service from the staff is amazing and they are there every Sunday morning to ensure that everything is running smoothly and to open the doors for us where the chairs are located. They are more than happy to reply to any queries and are excellent communicators.
