Today was the first experience with Dr. Beth and the staff at Heritage Dental. My first impression was of the facility...from the beautiful waiting room to the warm, welcoming staff and Dr. Beth... the practice provides a professional, personal touch in every aspect of procedures and treatments. When I entered the office, Karen welcomed and greeted me warmly. I was offered a heated neck pillow and asked if I wanted any of the drinks that were available in the waiting room. The wall waterfall and soothing music provides a spa-like experience....something I've never experienced in a dental office before! Sandi is an awesome hygienist...thorough in every detail of the cleaning procedure. Dr. Beth is awesome... patient and understanding. She gave me an extensive exam and answered all of my questions with clear, concise answers. I was very fortunate to find a dental practice that I can say I will actually look forward to going for any of my dental procedures. I wish I could give 10 stars! Heritage Dental has changed the whole dental experience for me. I was terrified to go. When I arrived, Karen greeted me with the most gentle voice and welcoming demeanor. She immediately offered me lotion infused gloves for relaxing and then they brought me a heated neck pillow. They had a variety of drinks in the waiting room also. The whole entire vibe of the office is relaxing and zen. It feels like a spa! Also, during the actual exam, their chairs have a massage/ vibration setting which helps distract the brain and is so calming! Sandi was the best and she'll forever be my hygienist. She was gentle and explained everything she was doing. She also didn't mind my husband coming back with me (because I was so nervous) and allowing this made such a difference for me! In the past, I have not had the best of luck in finding a practice that would make me feel comfortable and not treat me as an annoyance for a perceived lack of home care. Past dental hygienists have borderlined berated me during routine cleanings. Disclaimer: I floss everyday and brush twice a day......I'm not a slob. More dental practices should take a page out of Dr. Beth's playbook. Her physical space promotes a very tranquil, Zen like environment which you can feel upon walking through the door. She and her staff are very friendly and on the same wavelength. They kill you with kindness! Whether it's Dr. Beth or her staff, they keep you informed in terms of what they are seeing while performing a routine cleaning or carefully explaining to you the steps being taken while filling in cavities. I appreciate the dialogue (although I'm not able to fully communicate) because it's keeping me informed on the progress of the procedure. I've been to a lot of dentists in both Manhattan and PA but Heritage is without question the best! Every person who works works there is super friendly and efficient. The office is designed to be welcoming, with all sorts of foot massagers, snacks and drinks in the waiting room which, by the way, you rarely have to wait in for long. The only dental office I've ever been to that offers you a warm neck wrap when you enter. And wait until you try their state-of-the-art massage chair! I actually arrive early just for that. And I haven't even gotten to the dental services yet. Beth and her staff do everything possible to make the work as pain-free as possible. I barely felt the novocaine injection, which is the part I usually hate the most. While she is working on you, Beth is constantly checking to see if you are having any discomfort. It doesn't hurt that the treatment rooms are all equipped with flat screens TVs playing soothing images and massage pads on the chairs. They had to rebuild a seven-tooth bridge that had failed, breaking it down into smaller units, and the result is perfect. To the person who says they "couldn't get past all the fluff" I find that the "fluff" helps me to relax and makes the whole experience as comfortable as possible. Also, I have never felt it to be "sales oriented." I know we all experience things through our own filters, but for me, it doesn't get any better than this. read more

They created tons of work in my wife's mouth that wasn't needed. They said she had a lot of cavities which would require crowns from all of the drilling. My wife went to (2) other dentist to get a second opinion and both dentist said she had (0) cavities. My wife's new dentist also had to fix mistakes that were created at Heritage Dental. If you want a glass of wine, hand wax and a massage pillow from "Charlie's Angels" go here, but if you want correct dental work go somewhere else. read more

I have been going to Heritage Dental since ~2011 During this time, I moved from undergrad to grad school, moved to NY for first job, then NC and finally back to the Philadelphia area, though I live 45 minutes away still. Throughout this whole time, I stuck with Heritage Dental and would visit whenever I was home for the holidays or visiting family. They were always able to fit me in. Beyond this, Kristin and Ashley have always been great and ensured a pleasant visit. Dr. Skovron herself is fantastic and always makes sure there is time to speak during your appointment. There are also numerous amenities that make your time there very relaxing (neck pillow, hand wax thing, beverages, etc.) Highly recommended. read more

I was going to another holistic dentist for last couple of years and decided to try this place after seeing the ad in Natural Awakenings Magazine. They run an ad for a first cleaning with xrays for I think $125. The office is very nice, very spa like. Kristin my hygentist was super nice and extremely informative. Overall I had a good experience, but giving it 3 stars because I am not sure about it, I feel it might be a bit shady. Firstly, I have had gingivitis for many years. 1 year ago I got a scaling done at my last dentist and at that visit my worst pockets were 5 and 6s. Since that scaling my gums in the last year literally have almost never bled at all when brushing my teeth when before the scaling they bled all the time. So it was very surprising to me and a little suspicious when Kristin tells me many of my pockets are now 7s and 8s. I have NEVER had pockets this deep before. She told me I have severe bone loss and that I need periodontal surgery and said there would be no point to keep getting scalings it is really that bad at this point. Looking at my gums, they dont even look inflamed and like I said have not been bleeding the last year. However they dont have a periodontist on staff and have to refer out, so my first thought was I must really need it because they are not going to make any money off of it, until I realized that they could possibly get a kickback from the periodontist for the referral. So that was the first thing. Second thing was she told me that I need to use xylitol toothpaste and mouthwash ALL the time to kill the bacteria in my gums. Ok, sounds good. I thought though it was strange that my last dentist, who also recommended it for me, but did not tell me that i HAD to use a xylitol toothpaste but simply suggested it and my last dentist even sold the toothpaste and mouthwash there and would give me samples of it. I asked if they sold it there and she said no, I said ok fine I know most dentist offices do not actually sell toothpaste but I thought it strange that the samples of mouthwash and toothpaste that were given to me were Crest and Listerine, the very ones that I was told to never use. Being a holistic dentist, shouldnt they be giving out samples of xylitol toothpaste instead of crest, especially to patients who they specifically recommended to only use xylitol? That is a minor thing, but just something I thought strange. 'The third thing is when I checked out and saw my receipt: the sticker shock. Yes I was only charged $125 for EVERYTHING because of the natural awakenings ad, but on the receipt they also show you what I would have paid for everything I got had I paid the normal price, which was about $565!!!!!!!! I nearly fell over when I saw that! so xrays and a cleaning would normally be $565? You have GOT to be kidding! I only got the 4 bite wing xrays and then because of my suspected bone loss they also did a 360 degree xray. The 360 one cost over $200. It was nice that they included that in my discounted promotional price, but no way I would have ever paid that straight out! And the fee for the dentist to come look at my teeth would normally cost $117!!!!!!!!!! for her to literally look at my teeth for 30 seconds! How is that justified? I actually sought out this place because my last dental visit I got charged an additional $65 for the dentist to do the very same thing there, which I thought having to pay an extra $65 is insane, but that is nothing compared to $117! Needless to say, even though I loved Kristin and this place is alot closer to me than my last dentist (who I drove 40 minutes to see in Exton) I dont know if I am going to go back. I do have an appt next week with one of the periodontists they recommended to me. I found this lipid based toothpaste online that swears it reduces pockets dramatically, so I have been using that as well as the xylitol toothpaste and mouthwash and we will see what my pocket numbers are. The surgery is very expensive, so of course the periodontist wants to make money so if they still say my pockets are 7s and 8s I dont completely trust that, so to ensure if my gum disease is truly that bad, I also made an appt with my last dentist in Exton in October, I am not going to let them know about going to this place and seeing a perio and see what they say my pockets are at just to make sure if I truly need surgery or not. It is a shame that you cant completely trust even a dentist office for fear that they may just be trying to make as much money off of you as possible. So I may or may not return to this office in the future, we shall see read more

I found this place to be very "sales oriented". The first visit took over 2 hours just to see what they could sell me! If you want to be served wine with your dental work, this is your place...otherwise fine a real dentist that doesn't wear sparkles on her arms! I couldn't get past the all the fluff. read more

Great facility and concept. My only issue is that I was mislead when I was in their dental chair and was recommended that I have a deep cleaning done. Their staff shouldn't tell or assume that said customer's insurance is 90% probable of covering this procedure. I have been receiving treatment from Dr Beth's team for about 6 years, and as far as their service goes I can only say it's first class without exception. Any time I had a question or concern my questions were answered and in some cases to my advantage. Their concern to keep you comfortable is over the top for me but I can see that some of you only need one excuse to go running. Can we get you a coffee? Can we get you a glass of wine? Can we get you a neck warming rap? Can we dip your hands in a warm wax bath? Would you like a vibrating chair to relax you? Would like to watch tv? No I say just get on with it! And they do never using any language to get me stressed. I did notice a drill was called a rotating devise. Never a drill . Personally I enjoyed a Dustin Hoffman film when he was in the dentist chair being grilled and drilled by the dentist saying "are we safe ?"as he drilled into Hoffmann front tooth. On the spot they want me to spend 1000's of dollars for bridge replacement. My bridge is fine per my old dentist. Trying to ripoff people or trying to cover legal issues in advance. First of all, may I say "F yelp"? I'm tired of them putting people's perfectly reasonable reviews in the "unrecommended" section. About Heritage Dental: I feel like they do an above and beyond average job. I'm not talking about the the moist towelettes or wax dips or whatever that is they offer you while you wait. You can have a glass of wine or mineral water too, but I just wait normal. The main dentist there really cares that you have a positive experience and seemingly, so does the staff. I didn't realize it until the 1st review pointed it out, but they really avoid using language like "drill" or "bad" and it helps the experience on a subconscious level. They also have zen music and waterfalls and a heated massage chair if that is your thing. They always lay out my various options and don't try to force me to do work that is not needed. They are good with checking my health insurance coverage/out of pocket costs prior to scheduling a procedure. Everyone there is smiling and happy and seem to like what they do...the kind of people you want working on your body,in my opinion. read more

I have to take exception to what I call a "whiney" review of this dentist. She saved my teeth!.She most likely prolonged my life as well. I went to her in an emergency at the suggestion of another,and after reading multiple positive reviews on other sites about her. I am no fan of going to the dentist either,but had not been to one in at least 10 years. I had 2 abcessed teeth and my gums were in poor condition.All of this is my fault.I found her to be personable,professional and thorough.She was forthright in telling me that my problems were beyond her professinal scope,but got me an appointment with a specialist the next day,who was of the same professional caliber.My teeth,gums and entire mouth have never 'felt ' better and she continued to follow-up to make sure it all got fixed.Now I go to her for maintenance. As for the review,the person in question waited too long between cleanings.Their fault. If a deep periodontal cleaning was done,it was needed.Consider that a significant step towards keeping your teeth! As for being mislead or persuaded,I offer you this:When anyone says they are 90% sure,regardless of what it is,it leaves 10% for doubt.We cannot expect medical and dental professionals to know every provision by every insurance company out there.The responsibility falls on the insured as well. I would think that if I were paying out of pocket,or having a payroll deduction made for dental insurance,I would know what I was paying for.In the day and age of the cellphone,you could have called your insurance company from the chair to get the answer.Blaming the dentist or her staff for your inabiltiy to ask questions is ridiculous. Generous of her to offer reversing the charges,but unnecessary considering you needed the work and are benefiting from it. read more

I walked in to a relaxing lobby and was greeted immediately. The lady was so nice, she walked me around the whole office, showing me the sanitation rooms and offering me a hot neck towel. There was massage chairs in the lobby and in the office! Ashley helped me with cleaning and she was so nice! Everyone made me feel welcome and comfortable. A+++ service.
