They've got a modern ID system for guests: just pop your drivers license onto the card reader machine screen and it verifies you're not from 'round here, and are automatically registered and let in with a day ticket. I was only in the lounge - not the bistro or gambling rooms - but it was nice for its type. There were a couple of areas, with a variety of seating: stools at high tables, lounge-y chairs at low tables, normal chairs at normal tables which make eating easier. These areas are at different levels so that when there's an act on at the stage at the far end everyone gets a good view. Toilets were very recently refurbished, and done to a very good standard. There's a sandwich/snack counter for those who don't want the full restaurant. The regular beers and spirits are on. They had a range of wines by the glass and bottle, some of which were exceedingly cheap (for good reason, but if that's OK with your palate, it makes drinking here economical). They let kids in, but they have to start in the family-friendly part.

The portion sizes were below average, the steaks over cooked, the pizza oily and the chicken schnitzel and chips were Lukewarm at best. Overall an extremely poor meal which is really disappointing given their good history. Now with all the negatives with the food, the actual service from the bar was outstanding, I didn't get his name but he was the big red headed guy with the beard... Polite, efficient and happy in every way. Fingers crossed it was just a bad night.....

Heading to Eschol Park House for a wedding reception I didn't know what to expect…read more To be honest the princess in me was a little judgemental due to the location and impression I was given, well how wrong I was, this was a beautiful location for a wedding, classy, pretty and stylish with a heritage feel. It is a heritage listed house, the wedding we attended was one of 2 on the day, with the ceremony in the grounds. I know the wedding we attended was planned on a tight budget, but you would never have known that. It really was a beautiful day, the food was lovely, salmon steak with avocado, dill and capers as an entree, a beautiful main of chicken and sweet potato mash or lamb shanks and a dessert platter with a trio of little dessert tasters.
