What a fabulous surprise is Mandelsons of Goulburn Hotel…read more We had the good fortune recently (Easter 2012) of not only attending a good friends wedding at Mandelsons, but we got to stay there aw well. This historic property has return to active duty as a hotel and is very much worth the stay. Restored to it's former glory the property is a very good snap shot of the past. About 99.9% of the property is in period, including mannequins dressed in period clothing. There are eight rooms available, all lavishly decorated and furnished. The hotel only serves a continental breakfast, but this is OK as there are some many other places to eat in Goulburn and surrounds. The owners, Clare and Steve are fantastic. We ordered from the bistro and waited about 20 minutes for the food, which I thought was acceptable, in my group there were a few Chicken Schnitzel, a pizza and two rump steak, chips and gravy. The portion sizes were below average, the steaks over cooked, the pizza oily and the chicken schnitzel and chips were Lukewarm at best. Overall an extremely poor meal which is really disappointing given their good history. Now with all the negatives with the food, the actual service from the bar was outstanding, I didn't get his name but he was the big red headed guy with the beard... Polite, efficient and happy in every way. Fingers crossed it was just a bad night.....

There is a Woolworths half a block down the street and 2 pubs within 1 blocks walking distance. Then service was friendly and efficient. Its good for 1 night but my back wouldn't take more than that on that bed. Parking is tight of you have a bigger car (4WD work supplied) it was tight but not undoable. Considering the bargain rate and the proximity to amenities its value for money.
