They meds were continued to be given incorrectly, they broke his glasses and would not replace, they lost his wrist brace that he was required to wear as he came in with a broken wrist. I could go on and on but these are some of the more serious actions that happened there. I never got updates on his rehab. He was home 6 hours and fell again and ended back in ER. I do not believe he was ready to be released! They want to admit patients, collect their money and move them on. The patients are not cared for at all Please please consider other places over this awful place!!! You will regret it if you put a loved one there.

With any facility, the staff support goes up and down, and we were fortunate to have caring staff at the time of our visit. The Nurses take forever to come and assist the patients in the rooms when the Red Alert Button has been pushed. The patients with dementia are not able to advocate for themselves unfortunately. Therefore, the patients do not get taken to use the restroom often, so they wet themselves. The wheelchair bound patients end up getting sores on their behinds because they are not moved often/ ignored. Many elderly patients fall down while staying here due to poor negligence. Case Managers do not respond back to phone calls in a timely fashion. You have to keep calling and hunting them down. Medications are not given properly to patients. Encompass will try to push patients out of their facility promptly even if patients are not capable (still have 10/10 pain, cannot walk/ move at all or without assistance, etc). Our family has been very dissatisfied and disgusted with the lack of care and service from this facility.

Her prognosis was grim at first, but she is exceeding their expectations and is now on to skilled nursing here at the rehab. I was told it is called TIRR, but nowhere on the building does it state this so don't let that confuse you. The facility is easy to find, parking is a breeze and navigating through the building is simple with everything marked so well. During my visit, I was pleased with the cleanliness, attentiveness, responsiveness and overall room layout. She is in a private room with a private bathroom. I'm not sure if all rooms are private. A schedule is given to the patient each night with what is expected/planned for the next day. The goal is for her (and all patients) to get better and stronger, so I like the planned therapy and for her to know what is expected of her to achieve the results needed. I've heard excellent feedback from other people about this place. Everything I have read and now seen/experienced is A+++. My friend even said the food was good. The Houston Metroplex is home to fantastic healthcare and I think this is another representation to that statement. Anyone going through tough situations like this, my blessings to you. Stay strong.

Patients do not receive basic routine care or medication as ordered. I had to report them to the government "DADS" Department of Aging and Disability Sevices Services department to report lack of basic care & nutrition. Unless you go there every day to check in on your loved one, they will be poorly cared for. The facility is not staffed with enough CARING employees to adiquitly a take care of your loved one. Please search and research to find a caring facility other than 'Grace Care'. A good resource to start with is a free website called "A Place for Mom". Also FYI, a written complaint form is available at every nursing home to register a formal complaint. It has to be addressed by the facility by holding a meeting with you within 2 weeks of the complaint being registered. A discussion of the corrections they will make will be signed by you and the facility. You are to be given a copy for your records. You should bring someone with you such as a hospice nurse. You are entitled to have hospice services if your loved one is in declining health. You do not have to wait "until the end is near". Hospice is a great service. They are your extra eyes to make sure your family member is being properly cared for and it's covered by Medicare.

Seasons Hospice which has been great offered 5 days for mom to go to center. I told them I needed a week so I would have to pay for 4 days. Which all good with that. $824. For 4 days no big deal. Fast forward to unlimited calls to my cell phone at roaming charges on a ship. Mom was hungry, nurse aid from hospice found her laying in wet bed once ask for lady to change bed, she laid sheets on bed. Then two days later my daughter witnessed same exact thing. Then mom ask for some coffee was told she had to go to dinning room. Was told she had not had her meds as our nurse from hospice had left for her. Her blood pressure was 186/100 when we got her home. Again meds not given for blood pressure. Again you ask how I know meds were not given I counted pills before turning them over to them and then when I got in car. I go to take mom home and they offer a wheel chair, it has a plastic cushion in seat I lift it up and OMG it had food from weeks and weeks in the seat. I have been told sheets were changed twice only when bed was wet. Her clothes were balled up in drawer with clean clothes. This is only to list a few items. I get a call on my cell telling me they forgot her meds then I go today to collect. They say it is liquid morphine. I was told our nurse from hospice ordered it but then another nurse head said no so not sure who ordered it but has moms name on. They kept it which is fine if it is destroyed. I bet not. Fast forward to stories from mom which I weighed as her demented state. But o no after hearing stories from my daughter,grown granddaughter (18), and the care taker. I was sickened at the care my mother got. Not one great moment and in my opinion Totally Fraud! I trusted them with MY mother and they allowed her to fall twice in 8 days! This is unexplainable and wrong on so many levels. They always made sure she was getting the meds needed and the care needed. They took time with her. Treated her with dignity and respect. My mom said she enjoyed the time spent with them. She felt the care was what she needed. The only complaint she had was the food, so I did bring her meals, coffee and treats several days. They had a fridge/freezer where I could leave things for her to eat as well. She enjoyed meeting some of the long term residents while there as well. The building is older, but kept clean, which is important. Overall, if my mom needs care in the future, she has expressed she would like to go back there.

There are meetings everyday and pretty much any time of day (except for the wee hours of the night). Parking can be tight during the 12 pm/5 pm/6:30 pm meetings, so try to come early if you can.

Karim and Brittney have been so good to my daughter. They encourage her and help her manage her chronic pain. My daughter was diagnosed with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and it was a very scary and uncertain time for both of us. Karim and Brittney have been a source of strength and calm in a very uncertain time for my daughter. I will always be thankful for the care and compassion they continually show for my daughter. If you are in need of physical therapy then this place is the best. They genuinely care about their patients!

Now the main problem is the food area. I DO NOT like sweet tea, it took almost two months to get unsweetened tea, and even then some times sweet tea would be on my tray. The only thing that was consistent was Inconsistency. Condiments were not on the tray every time, especially in the evening. I asked for fresh fruit and vegetables, but in my stay here I have received 4 fresh bananas. The other fruit comes in cans, and almost all the vegetables are frozen. For every 3 good reviews you read, there is a bad review that causes you alarm. And the bad reviews will usually wind up saying something like: "if you love you parents, don't send them here!" Scary right? Well I can not speak to those bad reviews. I often wonder if they are real or written by disgruntle employees or unrealistic family that are going through the most stressful experience in their lives. Likewise I am leery of the glowing reviews because I wonder if they were written by management or owners of the nursing homes friends. And over hanging all of this is the fact that you are scared to death of making the wrong decision. I get it. I was in your shoes and still am. I cannot speak to the other reviews and if they are real or not. I can only speak to my own and guarantee that the following review is 100% real and I have no current affiliation with this Spanish Meadows and I am not in the medical industry. I am commercial real estate broker. My father was a resident at Spanish Meadows for the last 8 month until we had to move dad to a new facility due to an unforeseen issue that had zero to do with Spanish Meadows.   If you read nothing beyond this point then let this be your take away: Spanish Meadows is absolutely wonderful!!!! They exceeded my expectations in EVERY way. My father was diagnosed with alcoholics dementia. Dementia is not an easy disease to manage. Dad is also being fed through a G tube or peg tube. Medically speaking I was very please with dads care. If the man farted the wrong direction, they called me. Conversely those of my family members that did not wish to be bothered, were not. Every time a medical issue came up, they reacted appropriately. I never had to worry about dad being taken care of. In short I slept very well at night knowing the Spanish Meadows staff was tending to dad's needs and therapy.   The facility has gone through a very nice remodel, which they seem to be close to finishing. It always seemed very clean to me. The staff is extremely friendly and beyond kind. You can tell they REALLY care for their residents. And they put on a HUGE thanksgiving day feast the weekend before the holiday. They have lots of activities for the residents. I even brought up my dog to visit dad and did not get any flack for that. (Obviously I did that only a few times in a controlled manner thatdid not affect others.)     There are a lot of brand new nursing homes that look amazing. Spanish Meadows is an older design, but as I said above is completing a very nice remodel. At the end of the day it doesn't really matter what the building looks like. The staff is what makes a nursing home work. And I cannot imagine a better nursing home staff! They are all amazing. I would single a few employees out for going above a beyond, but it doesn't seem fair to the rest who were all just wonderful. You will not be sorry if you choose Spanish Meadows for you family member. Good luck and God bless!
