I made a huge mistake counting on Fusion to help my family - my teenager missed 3 months of her well respected school second to illness and withdrew for the semester and went to Fusion desperate to learn and catch up. We realized early on that Fusion was not a good fit - teaching quality was, at times, dismal with poor accountability of advancing curriculum/challenging my teenager. Our sincere efforts to engage the individual teachers, administrations were numerous from the begining - encompassing easily 40 emails. Despite raising concerns repeatedly with teachers and administrators, we felt our concerns were dismissed or not meaningfully addressed. Per my teenager AND while overhearing an online class, the teaching was maybe15 minutes per 60 minute class and then teacher would make AI generated work for the student to do on own. You pay approximately $135/hr. I am so sorry to say this, but my teenager often felt some teachers were unable to answer questions in sufficient depth or explain the AI-generated assignments they provided. My teenager said it was a waste of her time --- the excruciating fact is that my teenager really wanted to catch up on missed school because of a long illness. She spent February to June, 2026, at Fusion & made little progress except for what she taught herself out of desperation (one good thing she learned to teach herself). The credits earned, we have decided, will not to ever appear on her transcript; for us, it does not represrent quality education. Forget the 16-17k, the tremendous family stress related to Fusion not delivering; it was my teenager that was affected most and I cannot stop apologizing to her for choosing Fusion.

There were inconsistencies at home and I expressed to his then current teacher, new teacher, and the director that I did not think he would handle the transition well at that time. They moved him anyway and he started showing signs of physical aggression which he never had before. I understand the need to protect teachers and other students, but this was poorly addressed. About 10 days into the new class we had a meeting with the new teacher and the owner stating we would need to pick him up early when he was having behaviors and have consequences once taken home. Later that day we were called to pick him up early. The following day they allowed him to stay a full day even though he was having behaviors and at pickup we were told he was not welcome to come back to the school. We were given 1 day, one early pickup to put into practice their action plan. The school did not take into consideration the parents concerns. They thought they knew better.

He's three, and it was literally the first day he had ever worn shoes with laces. He had no idea how to untie them, they were in double knots. Another day I went to pick him up and he had been in the office three or four times that day for random things, and the "owner " told me he was harassing other students. I was never called nor notified of this behavior. Just walked in to my 3 year old son in "The office" for idk how long. One day I went to pick him up, and they told me he wasn't welcome back. Again never called or notified until I walked in the door. The "owner " also complained in a letter to all parents that children shouldn't be getting out of their cars after eating food on the way to school, that they could make it from the house to school without eating. And that many of the parents cars look like bombs went off inside them. I don't know how this man is over a school, but it was a terrible experience. This may not be the experience of everyone however it was my experience and I would not recommend this school.

We were with her at her previous school and by luck, we moved not too far from where she opened her own school. It's small school that was built with a lot of love. A lot of attention is given to each of her students. She makes individual journals with pictures of each of her students to record their progress and to share with you how your child is progressing and she updates them monthly. Our family gets a kick out of seeing what our 3yr old is doing and surprised at what they work on. She goes through in detail why certain skills are valued in the Montessori method and let me tell you, I appreciate all the little touches, like bible verses, and being taught to share. It's pretty awesome to find our little boy has skills that I didn't think were possible for a 2-3 yr old. I toured a couple different schools in the area to be fair and to compare what's out there and some were too clinical. They had wire in the glass that made it feel like a mental institution. The building is beautiful with lovely night sky murals on the ceiling in the front. They have a theater, performing arts venue, science lab, and many other additions. The playground is unique due to the big plot of land and they have a veggie garden for the kids. They really are big on accountability and growth. Our child has a solid moral compass, curiosity, confidence, and good character: all things that the school strives to inculcate. I saw children there that were the children of parents who went to Spellwell themselves years earlier. I withdrew my child after ONE DAY, and put her in a different Montessori school in the area that had 4 different play areas for each age group, ample space for riding around and playing with different set ups. I reached out for some sort of reimbursement with an offer to compensate for the 1 day via email and voicemail, never got a response. Long story short, this business is determined to keep $700+ of my money for 1 day -- Jayden has been very condescending and the director is harder to reach than the president. It's flat out wrong to not prorate or refund a customer for changing their mind after 1 DAY!! And it's bad business to not communicate and keep such a substantial amount of money for doing incomplete work. Beware, parents! *slight edit* I was just sent an e mail that this teacher is not at the Woodlands Campus but at Greengate Academy in Spring. I've lost count; this may be my 5th review. SHSU Charter has a way of making poor reviews vanish. My child used to attend SHSU Humble campus and I regret leaving him there as long as I did. My own background is almost 20 years in education as a teacher, trainer, curriculum developer, coach and specialist at both the site and district level. Due to the nature of my positions, I've literally been in 100s of classrooms. Most teachers are good, or at least have potential. It is the rare few that should not even be in the profession. The K/1 teacher at SHSU would fall into this category. First, the teacher was very rude and uncaring most all the year. She constantly ignored everyone and never let us know how our kids were doing. Anytime I tried to have a conversation with her she'd roll her eyes, sigh and basically act like a spoiled teenager. Next, it is NOT TRUE that SHSU charter doesn't do testing. They do MAP testing 3 times a year, weekly reading tests, and unit math tests alongside several science and social studies exams. It is also NOT TRUE that all the teachers are experts with over a decade of experience. While my child really liked the PE and music teachers and I heard positives about some teachers at other sites, the Humble teacher had never worked with a group larger than 8 and was in desperate need of a mentor or possibly a job change. Not once did I get the impression that she liked her job, the students and most certainly not the parents. Possibly she went into teaching thinking it would be easy, and lucky for her; her position was. Working all alone in a class of only 7 far from the main office in Woodlands must have been a dream come true. Nobody was checking in on her so she could do as she pleased, or more specifically, do as little as she pleased. Not working was certainly her motto. She arrived each day 15 minutes before class and left when the kids did. Each day the same 2 girls would get "red cards" for small infractions. As an educational coach I know, if 25% of your class isn't focused the problem isn't the kids, it's the teacher. The teacher became upset/ embarrassed when it was discovered she was playing on her phone rather than working. The kids would sit alone doing piles of worksheets while she sat at her desk much of the day. Due to being found out, she started a "new policy" that no parent was allowed 1 inch in the class without an appointment. I spoke to both the principal and superintendent about this, and they seemed perfectly happy with the idea of parents being cut off from their child's education. They disguised the door policy as being something all the sites were doing in response to gun control, but as I found out from a friend at another site; this policy was only placed at the Humble campus. One day I entered about 6 inches past the doorframe and was treated like gum on the bottom of her shoe. Yelling, screaming, eye-rolling and telling me to get out. She acted like a maniac in front of the class and I realized my child would be better served staying home watching TV than in a class with a lunatic. I pulled my child an hour later and he told me he was so happy and he never wanted to be in a class with a mean, bad teacher again.
