That's normal and expected, and no way possible to anticipate and estimate over the phone. I question the brake line review as I was a boy once and I raised three of them... I'm guessing there may have been a bit of a communication breakdown somewhere and I suspect it was between his ears. I'm guessing it was more an issue of him not understanding everything. My recommendation is: a) bring your problem to Brian, b) have him look at it, diagnose it, and then give you repair options/prices, c) have him fix it.

If they had told me when I called to make the appointment or two days later, when I dropped it off, I wouldn't have batted an eye. But to do it with so little time was really irritating. I also told them that I don't use my air conditioner and wasn't worried that it wasn't working when they said they found it was out of Freon. They filled it with Freon anyway and charged me $40 for it. I won't be back.
