I have always rented from Avis because of their professionalism and dependability. In July I…read morerented a car from them for about 4 days. I had been hearing negative comments floating around about their service but still went back as a loyal customer. I'm shocked at how horrible their service has become. It started with picking up the car. Even though I stood patiently in front of the agent, he didn't acknowledge me and kept inputting information into his computer. I finally asked if I had to wait until he was finished. To make a long story short, I am going back and forth with Avis because they overcharged me over $100. They're accusing me of dropping off the keys late at 2:45 pm even though I was scheduled to drop off the car at 5:00 pm. The agent was not at his desk at the time and the agent from the other rental company told us just to drop it in the key box. They're accusing me of turning in the car with low fuel even though my husband and I both filled up the gas tank before turning it in. And other misinformation on their end that I will not get into.. It's been a month and still disputing the ridiculous accusations and charges. I will never rent from Avis again. That's too bad this company has gone so low and unprofessional. I should have paid attention to the negative comments.

The rental vehicle I picked up in Phoenix became inoperable in approximately 123° desert heat. This was an extremely frightening experience. I was alone, worried about my safety, my phone was overheating, and I had expensive work electronics with me. In that kind of heat, being stranded is not something to take lightly. What was most frustrating was the lack of communication while I was waiting. I spent several hours trying to figure out what I was supposed to do and did not feel like I had a clear plan. The El Centro team changed that. They told me to go to Pep Boys, coordinated a replacement vehicle, and kept working until I was back on the road. I truly appreciate the effort they made. They treated me with kindness during a very stressful situation, and I made it home safely because of their help. I hope Enterprise reviews its communication process for customers stranded in extreme desert conditions. A simple call or text with an update would have made a huge difference.
