I shopped at Hewlett and Dunn Boot & Jeans Co. for a pair of black exotic boots. After searching the available options, I was about to give up because I couldn't find a pair in my size that fit my feet properly. JM ask if I needed some assistance. I explained my problem to him. JM looked at the boots I had on and immediately identified some issues. He brought my another pair in a different size just to see the fit. He then offered a half size. They were perfect! They were a half size larger than I normally wear and a width different than I normally wear. Thanks to JM I left with a pair of boots that I really appreciate. Nice selection of boots and accessories and menswear. I have made it a destination every trip to the Memphis area several years running. However this trip was a zero. The new girl is a complete viper. The rest of the staff are as uninterested in helping a customer as they could possibly be. Since I can buy anything in the store online or someplace else I won't be headed back anytime soon. read more

I have always found what I was looking for and had great customer service. This store has been in the same location for many years, I remember first spotting this wonderful shop when I was was driving through this exceptionally quaint town square twenty seven years ago. It is so memorable because I had to do a double take of the display they had in the window. It was a couple of guys sitting around a pickle Barrel playing cards and the long look was because it looked so real that I wasn't convinced they weren't There's a desert and an ice cream shop, a pub and several restaraunts located within walking distance as well as a number of specialty shops around the square. So let's talk about H&D, this is a really super nice store that is a throw back and look forward at the same time, and you'll get that once you've been there. I've been a regular customer here for over 25 years and there's many things that remain consistent and that the people are knowledgeable, professional and friendly, and the overall atmosphere will make you feel welcomed and comfortable here. This is a sharp store in downtown Collierville that's been doing their thing since 1961. Very clean and well laid out, and smelling strongly of leather and their nice candles and cologne/perfume. And if you're a cowboy or cowgirl or wannabe, you'll find a top-notch selection of nice belt buckles, Western-style shirts, tough pants, boot socks, boot care products, Stetson hats, tack (saddles), and the best part -- the boots -- in both work, motorcycle, and Western-style. Rows and rows of well-crafted cowboy boots line the adjacent part of the store, and the staff is glad to mosey on up and give you a hand to find what you need. Awesome place! The main boots I wear on a daily basis are a pair of handmade snip toe Lucchese 1883 that I have had for about 8 years. The last time I had them resoled was at a local leather/cobbler shop. It was a fairly inexpensive resoling but they had a mound of boots in their shop so I figured they would do fine. After about a month of use my boots developed a squeak in the right heal and about 3 months later the welt started to separate pretty bad from the sole on my right boot. The more I got to looking at the job the more frustrated I became. The lesson I learned is take your boots to a proper boot place and don't spend $60 on a resole job; on top of that it took them 3 months to do the job. I took my boots to Hewlett and Dunn and spoke to the owner. Great guy with a wealth of knowledge about boots and knives (knives are a passion of mine). As he looked at my boots he just shook his head and said, "They may not be able to be saved but I will send them to my best guy. He is down in Mobile. Sometimes he takes a little time so give me a few weeks." I said, "That is fine just let me know when they are finished". Three weeks later I get a phone call stating my boots are ready. When I first inspected them all I saw was pure perfection. Absolutely flawless! When I look down at my boots all I can do is smile. The stitching, the shine they put on them, the heels, everything, they are perfect. They also feel so solid when they are on. There is no other place that will touch my boots.
