I phoned the office on a Thursday and asked for a call back. I would go in, if necessary, but did not know their restrictions for Covid. I never got a call back on that day or the next. When I did call back on Friday, the office had closed for the day (1 pm) and the service at that same number was not taking messages. I contacted my pharmacy, which faxed a request to the office on my behalf and it was denied, probably because I had not been seen by the doctor, which tells me she didn't get my message. I still had had no contact with my doctor and spent a very miserable, painful weekend before calling a telemedicine doctor and obtaining a simple antibiotic. This same scenario took place in June where I wanted a consult and did not receive a call back, so this isn't the first time the front staff at Dr Porter's has ignored calls or been very unhelpful and unfriendly. If possible, they are even more irritable and unfriendly in person. There were others complaining about the staff when I was in the waiting room at my annual physical earlier this year so this isn't just my opinion. Because of the staff alone, I am looking for another doctor. I love Dr. Porter and it's really too bad that she probably doesn't even know how the staff treats her patients. Everyone deserves a doctor whose staff cares as much about the patients as the doctor does. This office doesn't have that kind of staff. Anyone reading this and looking for a doctor should know you can expect deep sighs and eye-rolls from the staff in Dr. Porter's office. It makes your health seem very unimportant.

I wasn't making an appointment for preventative care, I have an issue that I need to see them. Needless to say I told them to cancel this appointment all together after wasting 6 months I am not happy to say the least.

I'd make him my doctor too if I could because he's that good.

His staff is friendly and ready to help. They always find an appoingment that works with your schedule. He also works from a location nearer my home, but I choose to see him in this office because there is no waiting. He isn't stingy with his time while always being there on time for my appointment. My ex wife was very scorned and alienated my oldest children against me and I was in a very bad place. As we were discussing my past experiences that made me into the person I was, we discovered that growing up with divorced parents with addiction that the best form of treatment would be a program called ACOA (Adult Children of Alcoholics). As we worked through the program I was able to learn and love my parents for who they were/are as they were doing the best job they could, and not my thoughts on who they should have been. What a freeing feeling to discover as I let go of my expectation of them and realized they are human too. Every session Joe would greet me with positive compliments and every time I would just shrug it off as not significant until I started to believe that I am worth more than what I thought of myself. I learned to love my messed up self and my confidence boosted and I started focusing on the positive things in my life and not the negative. It's been about 2 years since we last met and the lessons I learned through the ACOA program and his help in guiding me to love myself has continued to grow. Joe is a very genuine person and wants to help everyone whom he comes in contact with.
