We stayed in Hi Matic as a couple for 3 nights. First, I think I need to make a general comment that hotels in Paris can't be compared to hotels in other cities: The average Paris hotel room is small, often old fashioned with lots of renovation backlog and a certain lack of hygiene. Also the french breakfast is usually just a coffee with a tiny peice of Baguette or a croissant. If you want more, you have to pay A LOT.
Athmosphere and Style: The hotel is quite young and therefore still in a good shape. The style is young, modern, rebellish and a great experience compared to the old fashioned style of other cheaper hotels you can bump into. It's colorful, modern, stylish, made for generation Apple. Rooms: As the name of the rooms already says: Cabane is a small chamber. our room had not more than 3,50 3,50. But all was there: Toilet, shower, sink, bed (Matraces) and smth like place for clothes. The bed were just two 160200 matraces on the floor. There was hardly space to walk. However, is was COOOL :-) It was really an experience, living in this functional and stylish interior. Also the illumination was nice with moderns colors shining through the toile cabin walls and some other lamps givning a smooth in the evening :-) The Designer really made somthing beautiful out of an old building with tiny rooms. My wife and me loved it .-)
The only downside was, that there is hardly space for clothes. A few more of the stylish hangers on the wall would have helped at least to put the jacket somewhere. The shelf below the ceiling was just too high for always putting the suitcase up and down because of a pair of socks or so. There are two shelves in better height, but just too small. But we only had two small suitcases for the 3 nights, so we just left those on the little desk. The toilet cabin was also very small: A person with more than 120-130kg would have difficulties to move around. Other: Breakfast was also above french average: We got a plate with a yoghurt, a fruit, a bottle of juice, one bread/roll with butter and confiture. Coffee was free (big choice on the vending machine).
Free WiFi is included and available in all rooms. Service is minimalistic: One person at the entrance, helping you with the electronic check-in, one person takes care of the breakfast in the morning. But that's totally sufficient anyway. Except the restrooms beside the breakfast area downstairs (which was full of p***) the rooms, reception area and overall was very clean and tidy. Price: Not sure if I would pay the regular price. However, they always have special offers. We paid 105 EUR/night, booking 4 weeks in advance. For this price it's unbeatable. I can really recommend this hotel to people, couples of younger age or dynamic mid-aged people. Also you should not have more than 120-130 kg or should be taller than 2m. You might have difficulties in moving around. I would give 5 stars, but the missing space for clothes and the tiny toilet cabin could have been made better. the rest is nice :-) read more
