Upon looking for a place to hang out and catch up my cousin suggested this bubble tea location. It was very quiet on a weekday afternoon. The staff asked if we've been before and we told that we had not. He offered us a sample of their darling lemon tea and it was quite good. The Oreo puff cream matcha milk tea peaked my interested and I went with that. He let us know that he'd bring the drinks over when they were ready. I've never been to a bubble tea place that brings your oder over to your table, that's good service and a good way to differentiate yourself from your competition. In the photo the drink looked super thick to me but that was not the case. It was definitely tea consistency and not milkshake like. I could taste the Oreo cookie bits in the drink which was nice but they got soggy after a while. There's portable battery charging packs that you can borrow. There is a refundable deposit you need to put down first though. If you're looking for wifi it's complimentary. Perhaps next time I go I'll try the food as well and a new drink. read more

After dinner across the way, my friends and I were craving our usual bubbletea so we were heading towards coco when we noticed a new place next door. Stopping to see the menu, we agreed we'd try something new for once and I'm glad we did. HiTea has a great ambiance (I believe they used to be Latea Era) and the staff is super friendly. Above all, the drinks were a hit with all 3 of us. I decided to try their March special - Oreo Puff Cream Milk Tea, friends ordered the Darling Lemon Tea and the HiTea Signature Fruit Tea. We all were in agreement the the teas were delicious and we enjoyed our little table to chat and hang out. The Oreo Puff Cream was delicious though I couldn't taste much tea flavour (I like my teas a little stronger). I did however enjoy that the drink itself wasn't overly sweet as I asked the Bobarista what sugar level she recommended for less sweetness. It was served as per their usual level and it was great. My friends both enjoyed their drinks as the lemon shone through and the tea itself was tasty and refreshing. The HiTea Signature Fruit Tea came in a jumbo cup with lots of fresh fruit that we enjoyed. The tea flavour definitely shone through in those drinks. Overall, I think this might be a new hangout spot for us with the delicious drinks so far and the cozy atmosphere. They also sell snack foods in case you're feeling a little peckish. I'd be interested in trying those along with their other bubbletea offerings. I will note that the prices here are a little higher than say Chatime or Coco but I owe that up to the fresh looseleaf teas, and the more premium cups and environment. read more

A lot of other bbt shops don't carry cheese foam MILK tea and we've been in search of it for a while since La Tea Era closed down. We ordered a Cheese Foam Roasted Milk Tea and a Cheese Foam Matcha Milk Tea. Both were amazing. The cheese really pairs well with the creaminess of the milk tea. The cups they serve them in is also ideal for a cheese foam drink. The store ambience is really clean and modern. Seems like a nice chill spot or even a study space. Although, it would be great if they had a couple of board/card games like how La Tea did. They even have portable battery packs that you can borrow at no charge (pun intended). I was intrigued with their lemon tea series so I opted for the chrysanthemum one and decided to upsize to jumbo (1L cup for extra $2) to share the drink. It even has two spots on the lid for the straws. They use "Snappy" as their reward system. The drink comes with the tea leaves with multiple lemon slices. Sugar level was already set so it could not be adjusted. I thought the tea flavour was weak and the lemon overpowering. Still a good drink overall. However $9 for the cup is steep. I originally ordered the drink with tapioca but it wasn't punched in the system. I reminded them, and they gave me the drink with the tapioca without charging me. Super impressed with this new place which is located in the well established Scarboro Village Plaza. It's situated right next to a CoCo and some other heavy hitting drink places like Marathon Donuts and Coffee. Hi Tea sets itself apart on a number of different aspects including its new sleek looking modern interior, details, and service. Since I've never been to this place before, I had to take some time perusing the menu. After a few minutes the barista saw we were still overly concerned with making the wrong drink choices and was happy to make some suggestions on what was popular without being pushy or seeming impatient. I went with a basic milk tea and tapioca combo, hot, and with no adjustments. My cousin went with his recommendation which was one of the shop's special drinks, an Oreo cream pudding matcha tea. We placed our orders and the barista let us know he'd bring it over to our table. While we were waiting for a drinks we had a chance to look around. There's a lot of 2 and 4 seater tables along the wall, as well as a lounge area with some comfy looking chairs. We also saw that there were phone battery charging packs that could be rented if you were in a pinch. Not sure if you need your own cable though. I also used the restroom which was spacious and clean. Once we got our drinks I was completely fascinated at how fancy the lids were. Since my drink was a hot drink, the lid design was well thought out so that you could cover your sippy hole if you had to become mobile with your drink, avoiding spills without needing to fuss with what you were going to do with the stopper since it was attached to the lid! This a newly opened HiTea location and I must say it is pretty damn satisfying Everytime I come here. I usually get the Darling lemon tea, hits the spot every time. It's not like super crowded and busy like Coco next door. It's much more intimate to say. The place is brand new so no questions regarding the sanitation of this place. Had a friend of mine go pick up some boba tea, was originally suppose to pick up the regular location boba tea. Due to the circumstance that it is Canada Day. Was told they had 2 sizes, one was regular and the other was some JUMBO size that is fit for a T-Rex. Tasted pretty great, the jumbo size was pretty exuberant to even finish in one sitting. The staff was really welcoming and attentive when ordering. The cashier recommend the HiTea Milk Tea with tapioca. I got 30% sugar and less ice. The tea was okay but I think I'd come back to try their fruity drinks, which looked really good. The space is really nice. The seating is comfortable and adjustable (chairs and tables aren't bolted into the ground). The restaurant is brightly lit and has a trendy vibe. They have powerbars for rent which is nice so you're not stuck in one spot to get a charge. Wifi is strong so no need to worry about sketchy connection while studying. The downside is that their music system seems to be connected to someone's phone. Their food selection is decent too, although a bit on the pricey side. This place is like the Starbucks of bubble tea spots -- It is a little more pricier then Chatime but it's worth it, the bubble tea I ordered was PHENOMENAL!! I got mine with no ice and 50% sugar but their staple milk tea called "Hi Tea" was delicious and noticeably different (in a good way) from other bubble tea spots I've tried. This is definitely a place to test out if you're in the Midland/Finch area. My sister and I chose to have drinks here on a Friday night over the other bubble tea places in the area. We were greeted by friendly staff who offered us a taste of their house special drink which was sweet and citrusy and very enjoyable. As great as it tasted, we trekked all this way to have bubble tea so I ordered the Oreo cream and the flavour was satisfying. My sister got the matcha version which she also found satisfying -she likes the strong matcha taste but if that isn't your preference maybe ask for less. The indoor atmosphere is very clean and pleasing. They have booths, tables, and couches at the back. This place looks like it would be comfortable for groups of friends. I was just going to get some bubble tea and go but I ended staying 30 mins. The places interior was very modern and great place for pictures. I had the Oreo matcha milk tea. It didn't long to make considering the line up it only took about 10 mins to make 2 drinks. The drink wasn't dense at all ! It very light and the flavor balanced each other out.
