My boyfriend and I stopped by on a Tuesday evening to go to the driving range for fun! I'm not too sure how it compares on pricing to other spots but I believe a medium container of balls was $13 and it lasted us a good amount of time. The parking is pretty limited and some of the spots are tight but we were both able to find spots. Also not too busy on the driving range as well, we were able to head down to the end and each get a spot next to one another. The course looks pretty as well although we didn't play on it! read more

AVOID THIS COURSE. Can't play the black tees unless you're better than scratch or able to tolerate constant harassment from Mike, the starter with an ego. If you aren't BETTER than scratch, you need to "play the white tees where you belong." At 6600 yards, it's a bit too short to be so elitist and yet have such terrible conditions. $69 for two executive courses is a joke. This isn't even the first bad experience--I gave them a second chance to give them the benefit of the doubt. Didn't even play the second hole before getting my hard earned money back. Pace of play is slow due to their ridiculous 8 minute tee times and enforcement that's more focused on so-called etiquette than function. Even went here with a bogey golfer, and he would've shredded the black tees if the course weren't so terrible that it's unbearable for anyone good at the game. The greens and practice green have dirt patches over nearly half the surface. $22 for walking at twilight is a scam with this bad of customer service--no way to get your money's worth here. It's apparently fine if you duff your tee shot, take two mulligans, then take 5 minutes to get halfway to the green with a cart. Because that's etiquette at this course. read more

If there were zero starts I would do that. I played 9 holes today and 2 holes on the front nine were not even a green. The hole was in the fairway because of under repair greens. The course over all way so bad. Fairway were like stepping on a grass water bubble. The course was so wet that It My ball multiple times stuck under the ground. I came here to play 9 holes with a group of friends and loved the facility! I especially love their twilight rate (past 6pm) since the price of 9 and 18 holes are both half price ($22). Golf carts are also half price ($36, including 9/18 holes). They've also got a nice driving range. Parking is very convenient - there's a lot located right next to the golf course. Update: It turns out that those "gouges" that the mats left on my clubs were just lose fibers from their new mats! All I had to do is brush them off and they were gone. I did email the course with those pictures. They called me and asked me to go to the course so the superintendent could look at the clubs. They showed a lot of concern which I greatly appreciated! - Original Post - I love the place. But the mats on the driving range recked havoc on my clubs. Practice area is awesome. 3 practice greens, 4 practice approach "greens" including one with a sand trap. Haven't played the course yet this year. DO NOT PLAY THIS COURSE!!. Over 5 hours to play all 18 holes. Greens are in unbelievable condition. (bad). Over priced. Employees are good but laugh and say they know how bad the course is when you complain. We teed of 25 minutes after our scheduled time because they were so backed up. I have golfed this course many times and start times are typically delayed and there are waits to tee off on most holes. Despite asking the starters / rangers to ensure a consistent pace of play, there is no desire to do that. 9 holes generally takes 2.5 - 3 hours. All greens are in very rough shape. My group is definitely looking for another course to play where we can get through 9 holes in a more reasonable amount of time. read more

Seeing as how I can walk to the course I'm admittedly a bit biased when it comes to Hiawatha. The course itself is nothing special and can't hold a candle to many tracks in town, but it is very reasonably priced, centrally located and has good practice facilities. Save for a couple years partially closed due to flooding the course gets a fair amount of play, offers leagues and somewhat oddly foot/soccer golf as well. If you're looking for higher quality golf I'd recommend looking elsewhere, but if you're looking for a casual round at a reasonable price without having to leave the CIties this is a fine option. read more

It is what it is, and that is a city maintained, inexpensive public golf course. The proximity to my house makes me reallllly wish this was as nice as some of the other Minneapolis Parks Golf Courses, except if it was it would probably be more expensive, golf deals through Tee Master make this a very affordable course. At the time I went this year there were 2 greens under repair and that obviously stinks, however I have played here when all systems are go and the quality doesn't improve that much. The majority of the other greens were bumpy and just all around poor shape. Tee Boxes were also in rough shape, everything could use a good mowing at the course and I hope once it dries out a little more things improve. This has been one of the wettest years in Minnesota history so far. I do like the distance at this course compared to the other Minneapolis Parks Courses, it is definitely the longest and good for busting out the Hammer. There are nice mature trees and of course some holes that play along Lake Hiawatha and other water hazards. All in all I will be back and golf here again, it is just too convenient not to. I would suggest anyone that has golfed other Parks Courses to try it out, just remember, It is what it is. read more

Pace of play was OK; finished in just over 4 hours. Tee boxes were pretty beat up on a few holes. I did not have a range finder so a lot of shots were a pure guess. Very hard to find yardage markers; on a few holes we did not see any! They used to have stakes showing yardages; should still have them. The weekday senior rates riding charged were quite a bit higher than a lot of courses that were much better quality. I will not be back; too many other places with a better value. read more

A real old fashioned gem. Very nice practice facilities not found on most muni's or even many private courses. Good layout that could use some work but superior to most public courses. Be kind people, the driving range is really pleasant and there are several practice greens for putting, chipping and short game practice. The course itself is good enough for a quick round. It's not a PGA championship course but it's good looking, challenging enough to keep you interested and for anyone living in the Twin Cities - it's so freaking close!! Went here for 9 after work on a week night. Driving range was in pretty poor shape. Was able to tee off on time, but there was a group of 6 walkers ahead of us who were slower than molasses. No course marshal anywhere in sight to help speed them up or break up their 6. Took almost 3 hours to play 9 holes. Tee boxes and fairways were in great shape but greens could use a little work. Recently ventured off to this course to kill some time and get a game in but was not happy with majority of the holes. It was just not in a good shape at all. It seems that the weather has not been helping the course and it is in a terrible shape. I have heard some good things about this place from a buddy that normally plays here but even he was disappointed in the way the place looked. Hoping to give it another try once the weather starts to cooperate and the course gets much better. Even though the course was in a bad shape (mainly on the green or what appeared to be green at times) it was still fun to play through. There is a good mixture of sand traps and water holes (that thankfully my ball avoided) that made it an enjoyable experience. I got to say the free cart rental did make my day :) The prices to play a game seems to be reasonable (about $19). For now I would recommend trying somewhere else if you want to get a good game in and not be bothered by the lack of a decent course. read more

As far as city courses go, this one is on par...pun intended. The course is in rough shape this year. I know we have had a lot of water, and the fairway's are torn up because of it. However, it is generally in decent shape. Never immaculate, just decent. It is a pretty easy course. Short and straightforward. Not too many trees or bunkers to jump in your ball's flight path. However, there is some water to worry about. Especially if you have a water-seeking ball. I never go here for a challenge, just a quick, easy, enjoyable round of golf. Prices are mediocre. I honestly think it is a little overpriced for your experience, but not more than I would expect. It is an expensive game. If it is convenient, try it out. You can usually play a round in less than 4 hours if it is not busy. Maybe I will see you there! read more

Hiawatha does have a beautiful layout and great distance and a challenging mix of holes, but man this course is in rough shape... Fix up your greens (especially hole 7!) - else there are many great public courses around the cities to choose from that are worth the $19.40 (walking fee for 9 weeknight) read more

Their summer twilight special is unbeatable, and I'd give it 5 stars if it wasn't for the fact that it takes you about 3 hours to finish 9 holes if you don't start right around 4pm... Pretty decent city course with large mature trees. It is fairly long considering how old it is. There aren't too many hazards to contend with. It does receive a lot of play. They also have a good practice facility. The proximity to the airport means you will see and hear numerous airplanes. read more

Great folks! It's not augusta national, but it let's you work on your game with the best range prices in town. Always go there to work on my short game with 3 different large putting greens, a chipping area for up to 75 yard shots, and a bunker to work out of. The range balls are not the best, but they are cheap, and there's always a spot for you to hit some golf balls. The course suffered a lot in 2014 with the heavy rains, but the practice areas were still open, which is important to me. I'll be there today, because I need to practice before jumping on the course. read more

I just love the place. The old club house with the slate roof and practice areas open all the time. It's a Minneapolis gem and worth keeping every hole open for future golfers. By far the worst course in the area this year. The greens have close to zero grass on them...far worse than any other course in the area. To show just how bad it is, the 6th or 7th hole does not have a green at all. Instead they have cut the hole in the fairway, then they chalked a 12 foot diameter circle around the cup. They put an handwritten note inside the circle stating that any ball within the white circle is an automatic 2 putt. Figure at least a 5 stroke handicap, per 9 holes; as the ball will not stop rolling on the green, and putting is grossly erratic without grass or moisture present. We paid $29 each to play 9 holes, this was the final straw and I will not be coming back again, unless it's to use the range. read more
