Hickory Hill Miniature Golf is fun for mini golfers who love a challenge. Ah yes, Hickory Hill. Home of miniature golf holes with water hazards, bunkers, roughs, and the dreaded 12th-hole-cave-of-doom. This is the mini golf course your parents warned you about. As the name suggests, this beautifully landscaped putt putt oasis is set into a hill. You start at the bottom, where one of two gently babbling creeks ends its long meandering journey through the front nine in a pond. The first hole is a forgiving straight shot (short and easy). The second is lengthy, and if you gun it, the green will let your ball roll right off and into the pond (which is why they kindly provide a skimmer at every lagoon). And that's two big things to love about Hickory Hill: their lengths are oversized, and feature many opportunities for your ball to do what you don't want it to do. The 12th hole is a monster: your ball has a steep climb to the cave at the top. Once it gets there, if it doesn't find the hole, or a rare niche to cling to, your golf ball will roll all the way back down the hill to the tee. There's a 90% chance you'll max out your six strokes. Don't be mad -- just get more holes in one on the front nine. Overall, this Hickory Hill is a ton of fun to play. Clubhouse workers have very bad attitude problems that need to be taken care of. The overall course is nice, but every time I walk into the clubhouse the front desk workers usually have an attitude and don't use basic manners or act polite at all. That may not be a dealbreaker for some people, but for me personally, I like to feel welcomed to a place that I've decided to spend my hard earned money on. If you work in customer service and can't provide basic manners then you should try and find a job elsewhere. This course does not feel welcoming at all. read more

The reason I give this course 2 stars is because of the clubhouse staff. They are rude and ALWAYS have an attitude. You can ask them a simple question like "what time do your leagues end tonight?" And they will get extremely passive aggressive with you, like you're supposed to magically know what time it ends. Every worker that works at the clubhouse front desk act like they hate their job and project it onto everyone else. News flash everyone hates their job and if you can't handle your emotions then you shouldn't get a job in customer service. With all that said, it's still a fairly nice course, well kept, but just be cautious of the staff if you come here because they often times have really bad attitude problems. read more

My experience here was absolutely horrendous there were push carts left in the fairway broken in half and the fairway was muddy and the greens even worse there were divots in the green and they were wet muddy and ruined absolutely horrendous trip in all. read more

Hickory Hill Mini Golf is an absolute disaster of a course, especially when it comes to putting. The greens are uneven, poorly maintained, and feel more like random patches of warped concrete than actual putting surfaces. Every hole is a frustrating mess of unpredictable bounces, slopes that make no sense, and obstacles that seem thrown in without any thought to design. The ball never rolls straight, even on what looks like flat ground, making it impossible to line up a decent shot. Hickory Hill is quite the place. With a mini-golf course & a legit, real, & raw 18 hole setup, this place is perfect for adults and kids. If you're a beginner golfer or looking to practice your short game, Hickory is the **Hill** you'd like to die on. There's also a sick driving range, excellent for practicing your Scheffler swing. Also if you're not a golfer, you can enjoy a good ol' cone at the ice cream stand. This course has rules: 6 stroke limit, no touching the flag (yet there are foam pineapple slices taking up the hole), 1 stroke penalty for going out of bounds (yet there's no brick border next to the walkways to your ball is guaranteed to go out at least three times). Basically, there aren't typical obstacles like windmills and tunnels. The game is challenging due to sloped greens, holes your ball won't go in unless it's only tapped in from inches away, and no shade or places to sit to let others pass. There's one bridge, one broken pipe tunnel, and neon blue water fountains, different colored turf for "sand pits," rock and plant obstacles, and different colored turf. Awesome minigolf! This is in the top 3 of minigolf places in the Syracuse area. This course is the hardest of the top 3 too. GGGAHHHHH THE CAVE HOLE WHYYYYYY UGGHGHGHG 6. Mosquitos are sometimes annoying so wear bug spray! Also, toward the end of the seasons I've seen a few bees nests on the electrical outlets so be mindful of them. I think they should also consider putting some sort of solid barrier around the base of the chain fence, I've seen a lot of balls roll through the rocks off the course and through the fence, which means patrons are having to jump over the fence to go get their ball. UGUGUGHGHG THE CAVE HOLE! EVERY TIME UGHGHGHG 6. You can be doing really good and winning the whole round until you get to the cave hole and get a 6, then you might come in last, but I love it, please don't fix or change the cave hole, it makes us strive to beat that hole on a good round to get under par for the course! AAHHAGHGH 6 again! The best part of the cave hole is when you're the last person to putt from the top and the next group of people starts gathering at the tee of the cave, you miss and your ball rolls all the way back to the tee with the next group of family members just watching your misery. THEN you have to putt from the tee again as if you're in their family! If you're lucky they'll accept you as one of their own and take you under their wings for the remainder of the course while your group neglects you and moves on. Your new dad will make a cheesy joke about how your ball came rolling all the way back and your new little brother and sister will laugh when they hit their own ball up into the cave miraculously getting a hole in 1 and 2 respectively and thus proving the pecking order of your new family. You're now on the lowest rung of the family of strangers that took you in as an adoptive minigolf member of their cave family. "C'mon, you can do it" your new mom cheers! We love golfing and were super excited to try this course out with another couple. We played around noon on a Friday and it was actually pretty crowded for that time. We had slight confusion and wait time when waiting for our carts. One of the carts had a hard time accelerating plenty of times but luckily we were only playing 9. Pace was a little slower than expected but the greens were well kept. We didn't try any of the food there but I do wish that a beverage cart would have driven around on such a warm day especially if you aren't going to allow coolers. After three years of membership, I'm done. The front nine greens are a disaster. Too many players who are too lazy to fix ball marks create greens that look they have been carpet bombed. Golf carts are on their last legs. Suspensions are all shot and have had several without brakes. Play after Thursday's junior league and you will always encounter several kids who have no idea how to behave on a golf course. On the other hand, I've waited for a group of six seniors clogging up play. There is simply no way to know what to expect. Today, it was a single senior playing non-consecutive holes who went from the 8th green to the 3rd tee as my partner and I finished number two and swore at me when I told him we were teeing off before him. On the plus side, the back nine is still marginally playable because it gets less wear and the office staff is helpful except for the young guy who works the counter but refuses to wear a mask. It really is a shame. You can walk nine in less than an hour and a half. Several of the holes are attractive. But the pace of play, unkept greens, and too many undisciplined "golfers" are deal breakers. If any course needed a better grounds crew and course ranger, this is it. read more
