I was exceptionally impressed by the A+ acting from Ms. Daisy to Hoke and just absolutely LOVED BOOLIE!! His Georgian accent just sent me. I LOVED IT!! If you have a young performer who is trying to break into the entertainment industry, like we were, we highly recommend taking the time to visit SCSOPA in the Santa Clarita Valley. We started Miley at SCSOPA when she was just 3 years old, and now she is 9. Over the years, Miley has had the opportunity to be involved in numerous music videos with major artists, commercials, movies, and, most recently, landing main-character roles. We truly believe a huge part of Miley's success comes from the training, guidance, and opportunities she has received through SCSOPA and especially from Miss Karen. SCSOPA offers so much more than just acting classes. They have talent agents there in person every Saturday morning, live workshops, live acting classes, Zoom classes, voiceover studios, and much more. Miss Karen also provides weekly Zoom classes with professional performers from across the United States and works with performers of all ages. We also hire Miss Karen for private lessons to go over Miley's scripts and help prepare her before auditions and casting. That personal preparation has been incredibly valuable to us. Of course, like others we've tried other talent agents and agencies over the years, and unfortunately, we've experienced situations where we were left with nothing more than a bill for a photo shoot and very little else. Everything always circled back to Santa Clarita School of Preforming Arts. So, take it from us--bypass all the noise and do your homework. My husband was excited when he was taking an international flight and saw our son in the DirecTV commercial. He is now 25 and has an established career and since has moved on.... Now, we have our 11 year old daughter enrolled in SCSOPA! She is enjoying every single minute here. I believe this may be her second home. She enjoys the acting classes, the voice overs, teen runway, on-camera scene practices, etc. She loves it, loves it, LOVES it!!! To add on, she has made some great friends already in the 2 months that she has been here. She just participated in a fashion show, so this place keeps her BUSY! The teachers are awesome. They are encouraging and kind. All of the instructors have professional backgrounds and it's wonderful that they are sharing it with our kids. There are agents that come weekly looking for talent. SCSOPA is preparing her for a shot in the industry! We also see her confidence building. She has met with a couple agents and is wanted by both. We will see;). We thought it was a nice place to learn but then the instructor, I forgot her name, probably Linda was punishing my daughter because she couldn't clap and stomp her feet altogether. She kept asking my daughter to repeat the moves over and over while other girls sitting down on the floor and tap my daughter's forehead couple of times. My daughter cried. She was so scared. Then I asked linda what happened she replied oh its ok she needs to practice thats all. Mind you, my daughter was only 4 years old that time. This class supposed to be fun for these kids,not stressful. And we cancelled the class even though we still have 4 more class to attend (we only attended the class 3 times). Because of this lady, my daughter doesn't want to go to any ballet class anymore. She can't forget how Linda treated her.

What differentiates this performing arts school from the other ones either in SCV or elsewhere, that there are no sales pressure tactics, no guilt trips, no false promises of agents, Hollywood fame or other BS. This school focuses on the art of the craft and on those who have passion for theatre, improv, dancing, music or other performing arts. I would highly recommend this school for any kid, or adult, who has love for the stage. We went to a Sunday matinee to see A Couple of Blaguards presented by The Tavern Brawlers. It was a two-man show with very funny stories and songs. The theatre seats about 80. The seats are a bit worn but comfortable enough for 2 hours. They sell alcoholic and nonalcholic beverages and snacks. They have a full year calendar of shows scheduled so be sure to check it out. There is a parking lot in back and street parking as well. There are plenty of eateries to choose from if you want to walk around Old Town Newhall before or after the shows. This theatre has been here a very long time and hosts many different local artist events. You can buy your tickets on line with a small handling fee or buy them inside at the box office. It is open seating on first-come first-served basis. I emailed the info email address with a question and they got back to me right away. This is a small, quaint and entertaining place to check out in the near future!

I will start by saying, I've attended shows at this venue a number of times and have highly enjoyed…read moremyself. A few weeks ago I went to a show that I was very excited about since last year. I spent money on the good seats up front (in this economy it was definitely a thought out purchase). My excited was out the door a few minutes in. They say explicitly at the start of each show that there are no phones allowed. Like I mentioned earlier, I've been to shows here before and have witness staff be quick to shut down anyone trying to take a picture or video. I really liked that about this venue because it allows for the audience to enjoy the show without any distractions. That was not the case this time around. Not long after the beginning of the show, phones started coming out. I though, "for sure someone will come tell them something soon". Spoiler: No one ever did, not once, the whole show. Other parties caught on that they would not be asked to stop so they joined in. I had 6 different phones going up and down in front of me the whole show. The most upsetting part for me was that staff did come into the area when guiding late comers to their seats. They saw the phones out and did nothing about it. I was so bummed by the end of the show to say the least. Now that I know the phone rule is no longer enforced I don't think I'll be back. I really liked that I could go to the Soraya and collectively experience a show in the moment without a sea of phones ruining the experience. However, that does not seem to be the case anymore.

I will not give away the plot or the ending but I have to say that it was an excellent production and cast. The acting really surprised my wife and I and the ending of the show completely stumped us. The venue itself was a little tricky to find being that we had not been there before, but located to the right of the main entrance of the College of the Canyons. There is parking in the front of the theater that is designated for it, but that night we parked in one of the other lots. The theater itself was small and very intimate and the perfect setting for the play. The staff were all very friendly, some may have been volunteers or worked for the school. We got the tickets online and they had an app so we just showed the QR code on the confirmation and got in. Seating was general so you should try to get there a little early if at all possible. We will certainly look for future productions at this small venue with excellent acting.
