I spent money on the good seats up front (in this economy it was definitely a thought out purchase). My excited was out the door a few minutes in. They say explicitly at the start of each show that there are no phones allowed. Like I mentioned earlier, I've been to shows here before and have witness staff be quick to shut down anyone trying to take a picture or video. I really liked that about this venue because it allows for the audience to enjoy the show without any distractions. That was not the case this time around. Not long after the beginning of the show, phones started coming out. I though, "for sure someone will come tell them something soon". Spoiler: No one ever did, not once, the whole show. Other parties caught on that they would not be asked to stop so they joined in. I had 6 different phones going up and down in front of me the whole show. The most upsetting part for me was that staff did come into the area when guiding late comers to their seats. They saw the phones out and did nothing about it. I was so bummed by the end of the show to say the least. Now that I know the phone rule is no longer enforced I don't think I'll be back. I really liked that I could go to the Soraya and collectively experience a show in the moment without a sea of phones ruining the experience. However, that does not seem to be the case anymore.

I recently came across this beautiful place that's hosting Sunday Funday events all summer long, and it looks like such a special experience. Admission is $20 for a family of up to five, and the shows are designed for kids ages 0 to 8. They're fun, interactive, and super engaging, with the performers involving the children throughout the performance. It's such a lovely way to introduce the little ones to live Shakespeare theater in a playful, welcoming setting.

There was even a followup session afterwards, which included questions and answers with the filmmakers and Alex, one of the film's foster subjects. Very inspiring. We all were treated to a free bag of popcorn and a small soda per ticket. Laemmle Town Center, located within the busy Encino Town Center, downstairs. Take the elevator and you're right there. Crowded but with plenty of parking available, at least on weeknights. There are many restaurants nearby should you decide to dine there before or after your show. Very nice.

As a first time visitor, the street access, parking and location of the cinema was somewhat unclear. But once I found the downstairs location, it gave pleasant impressions of a simpler 80's/90's time of moviegoing without today's sometimes excessive extra amenities. This feeling was further reinforced upon seeing their offerings of previously used film posters for free taking away, bringing back great memories of old video stores and sometimes cinemas that would give that same special opportunity to patrons. Inside, the vibe is a bit worn, but still welcoming, and the pricing seems to be slightly more modest than one might expect. The film I chose was on a larger screen. The sound was not fabulous, especially for a dialogue heavy film. It was surprising to see the seats had not been upgraded to the popular recliner style. But this also fit with the laid back slightly retro vibe of the place. I hope they continue to offer curated choices for a good while to come.

Like most of these small theaters there are no assigned seats. The theater is comfortable, every has good seats and the seats were comfortable When entering this very small theater the lady at the front desk was very nice and friendly, confirmed that we had tickets and at one point told everybody that if they had to go to the bathroom that they have a deal with a restaurant/bar about 4 doors away, which people appeared to take advantage of as they let us in about 7:15 for a 7:30 show. Art Shulman, the writer of the play, greeted us in the lobby and was very nice. He later got on stage at the beginning of the play to explain how and why he wrote this play. The street that the theater is on has many restaurants and next time we come we'll probably find a restaurant on the street to eat and/or have a drink. The play itself was okay, two married seniors, their pregnant daughter and her husband. The four of us thought it started kind of slow but did get better after intermission. It was very nice that the actors and writer were available to chat after the play ended.

The customer service was extremely poor and the staff were very unprofessional and unhelpful. Instead of trying to assist customers or explain things politely, they created unnecessary problems and made the entire experience uncomfortable. The theater itself did not feel clean or welcoming. The place smelled unpleasant and did not look well maintained, which completely ruined the experience. The food was also very disappointing. It was dry and tasted like it had been sitting there for a long time. For the prices they charge, the quality should be much better. What disappointed me the most was the attitude of the staff. Customer service here is honestly some of the worst I have experienced anywhere. Instead of making customers feel welcome, they make you feel like you are bothering them. Overall, this was a terrible experience from start to finish. I will definitely not be coming back, and I strongly suggest others think twice before visiting this location. There are many other theaters where you will be treated with respect and actually enjoy your time.

Last year our tickets were in the Founder's Circle area, and that part of the venue is amazing! It is pretty chill and if you want to sit outside of the venue seating area, there are options. Getting things from the concession stands are easy and hassle-free. The people that work at the Fred Kavli Theater are so nice and go above and beyond. Some are paid and some are volunteers. Last year I lost a piece of a ring and Kelly F. found it! I got to see her again this past week (July 2026) and thanked her again for going above and beyond. (I also sent emails to several folks at "toaks.org" email addresses to mention Kelly and two other great ushers for their help...I never heard back from anyone.) For parking, you might be able to find something on the street. Otherwise, it is about $16 cashless (credit/debit only) to park. There are a variety of show types that play at this venue. I really love the locations, the ease of getting in/out, and the seating options. I look forward to my next concert early in 2027!

They go out of their way to make sure the kids are having a great time, and it truly doesn't go unnoticed. My daughter is 10 years old and loves being on stage, but doesn't have any formal acting or singing lessons. So she is really excited to sharpen her skills this summer. We are part of the ambassador program and it makes it really affordable. We are looking forward to a fun and memorable summer and can't wait to see her first play!
