The morning of the golf round, I again called to confirm that there would be enough rentals. When we got there, they then informed us that they had given out all their rentals to other groups already. They were able to scrounge 2 rental sets together. Could've ended in a disaster, but luckily enough members of our party had brought their own clubs. The main issue seems to be a communications issue between the booking company and the actual myrtlewood clubhouse. Renter beware !

Husband wife golf trip to Myrtle. 1st time playing. On the plus side...Played as 2-some so place…read moreof play was fine. Course in good shape . Challenging "trouble" on several holes so recommend bringing some "water balls"! On the minus side...no restrooms on the back 9 (at least not easily visible as a 1st timer) which isn't an issue for guys (e.g. lots of trees) but I was very irritated about this and the issue we experienced with the maintenance guy compounded this irritation! He was cutting grass on several holes as we played and stayed in the way of my (the woman) shots running his very loud diesel engine while I addressed my ball and on 18 as we were putting he continued mowing around the green ! Bottom line ...do not recommend this course for ladies due to lack of restrooms and maintenance guy lack of courtesy for a woman!

We did the Lost Boys route because there were only inclines--no steps. On the Lost Boys route, you get to go into the skull cave; on the other route, you get to go on the pirate ship. The course was in good condition; I assume it gets regular maintenance. For the first several holes, we noticed little signs that told the story of the Lost Boys, but then I didn't notice those anymore. Maybe some needed repair. Maybe that was never completed. Maybe those were still present and I didn't notice. Capt Hook's Adventure Golf must be a popular place. We had to wait for people to move on at quite a few holes. We had a good time and recommend it, though the next time we're in Myrtle Beach we shall probably one of the other courses just to try a different theme; I'd like to try one owned by the same company. Or we could return to Captain Hook and go on the Peter Pan route. We'll see!

This is a subpar municipal AT BEST! The west course was heavily waterlogged, fairways were uncut the bunkers had no sand and the animals were feral. Giant black squirrels kept running around the tee box during my shot (I still hit the fairway). Last piece I want to mention is the price. I was led to believe that I could play the course for $5 (YOUTH ON THE COURSE) but they did not honor that and we wanted to add a cart fee to which they said they don't do here. Not sure where my $75 went but was hopefully donated to a better cause than this sorry establishment.

When we reached the starter on the 1st tee it was 8 groups waiting to tee off. The greens are in terrible condition, but the fairways are in good shape. The layout features a lot of doglegs and water, and a lot of it is sneaky. You'll hit a fine shot, only to drive up and realize there is water in a spot you didn't foresee, and suddenly you've lost yet another golf ball. This isn't a course for those who like to grip it and rip it, the fairways are tight and with all the dogleg holes you'll be playing a lot of irons, hybrids, and fairway woods off the tee. Playing conditions for us in early June served up tended fairways and rough, OK tee boxes, but the greens were in dire condition on several holes. Having to putt over bare spots did not suit the tournament environment well. Also, most of the bunkers were more like waste areas than actual sand traps, resulting in some frustration. The staff were great, and elevated this experience from a 3 to a 4 for me. Rangers did not bother us, the beverage cart came around several times, and the grille staff at the turn were awesome as well as speedy. We paid a group rate, but looking at their 18 hole cost for this time of year in Myrtle seems pretty fair. The term "country club" here is pretty loose, if I had paid that rate and had this experience, it would still be a 4, 3 for course conditions, 5 for the staff.

Their course is pretty challenging and you can expect to shoot a few strokes about your norm. Really enjoyed the course and staff!
