To the person who wrote that their Loved ones bronze vase…read morewas stolen- I am very sorry to hear that. Many years ago I worked for a cemetery in the area. It is sad that there is theft but that has been happening forever all over the country. There are signs posted in most cemeteries for no " entering" at dusk. People will steal no matter where it is. You can't expect a cemetery to hire a " night watchman" ( would you want that job?) motion lights, cameras, & all other things mentioned. The cost is too high, the area is vast & they would have to pass the cost to the families. Many people do not visit their loved ones over the years - they may live out of the area or feel going to the cemetery is not what they wish to do. For the ones who do visit it's a sad fact that there is theft here & there. I'm sorry for your loss & the theft. I have close friends buried at Forest Lawn- it is a beautiful memorial park. Elizabeth Hartman from the 1960's movie A Patch of Blue is buried there.

We recently discovered that our two family gravemarkers had their bronze vases stolen. We were…read morenever told by the office. When we contacted them the staff stated more than 20 have been stolen. They called the Police but have done nothing to improve the security of our loved ones' graves. No cameras, no warning or no trespassing signs, no night watchman, no motion detector floodlights, no increased police patrols, they have not even contacted local scrap yards to describe the items and encourage them NOT to accept the vases from graves. The Board Chairman told us to file a claim for the $300 vases with our own insurance. Why doesn't the cemetery have insurance against theft and vandalism on their property? Even if we paid for replacements, they have not taken any steps to prevent the new ones from being stolen. What's next? If the large bronze markers are pried up who will replace them? Perhaps the Board is looking at this as a way to receive more revenue? The more that are stolen, the more they sell! Clearly, the cemetery believes they have no responsibility to the families who have trusted them to protect our loved ones' grave sites all these years. The Board President stated the Board and management have known about this problem for years and yet they have done NOTHING.
