Such a fun place to explore high end furnishings and also fun trinkets. They have a little bit of everything. Recently they put in a small bar on the second floor and serve craft cocktails, wine, and have a very eclectic small plates menu. If you have not been, you need to go. Take your pals. High Street is one of the first design places I visited when I moved to Cincinnati. It has quickly become one of my favorite places to go when I want inspiration for interior design, or to pick up a unique gift, or to find a new outift. And I like that they feature both local and national designers - what a great way to show our support for creative small business. Located downstairs toward the front of the shop is a small but exquisite boutique featuring designer clothing. The 2nd floor offers more furniture and design consultation which is great. All the way in the back, they have a garden area and fresh flowers as well! Absolutely charming and I pretty much spent a couple of hours just to go through both floors, twice! If you live in Cincy, you have to frequent this little gem. How have I not known about this place before?! From what Ive heard, they've been around for years and years but somehow I just didn't know about them. Thank goodness I do now! This place has so many different options that it's hard to know where to start this review. Let's start with the bottom level... The bottom is a shop for home decor, clothing, stationary, books, greeting cards, etc. There are just so many things that they carry that you can go in with a completely open mind and not even know what you're looking for and will likely find something. And then there is the upstairs. They sell so many different furniture options which is perfect for my life right now. But not only that, they also offer custom designs, interior decorating, and home remodeling services. If you are someone who is busy and don't really have the time to customize your space, I highly recommend them. They've literally been a life and time saver for me. I really love this store. High st is the pinnacle of exquisite design in Cincinnati, and it is definitely comparable to other international design houses. I've found some cool furniture here, and I believe the designers are absolutely top notch....but I would love this store more if they had an array of more affordable prints available from local artists. I think this could connect artists to their community in a sustainable way, and if there were a way to organize and feature a variety of artwork (that includes common themes but also weird items on the fringe) in print form, maybe people would buy less off of Amazon and wayfair, and more from this Cincinnati gem. Maybe the prints could be sold next to different artistic/vintage/upcycled frames as well. It would be ideal to sell prints in the more common frame sizes, so as to appeal to the same clientele that buys from other larger online businesses. Finishes in iridescence or other light-reflecting properties would make the art fundamentally better (&appeal to younger crowds) than most "affordable" art prints that people buy online of pieces made by long-gone, deceased dudes (who obviously don't need the money bc they are no longer living). read more

I am so stupid. I live just around the corner from this place, and pass it at least once a week. For over a year now, I've been saying each time I pass it "Oh! I keep forgetting to check that place out--I've got to do that!" I finally did, and man have I been missing out. I can't believe it took me this long to get there! High Street is what you want your home to be like. It's the design sense you wish you had, it's the finds you wish you had found, it's a bunch of "favorite things" that all work together instead of competing with each other. it's an oasis of inspiration! We went on a blustery winter day, and parked just outside on Reading. It's not much to look at from the outside, but as soon as we walked in there were beautiful things to look at, wonderful things to smell, and some lovely person asking us if we wanted a cup of tea. Lovely. We poked around for about 45 minutes, discovering. In addition to all the home decor, there was a small area of vintage clothing and accessories. I left there with a beautiful skirt that just happened to be my size, and a candle that smells like heaven. Do yourself a favor, folks. Don't be stupid like me. Stop driving past this place and go in--you'll be glad you did! read more

Although I can't afford anything but a candle from this place, I absolutely love it! One of my pet peeves is when people say, "This place does not look like it should be in Cincinnati" What does that mean? Cincinnati is a contender now, we have style, fashion, architecture, food and have been making headlines like crazy so get out of the gutter people. Rant over--this place IS in Cincinnati and we are lucky to have it! Besides all the incredible accessories and home decor items, my favorite part about this store is that you can get pretty much anything you want reupholstered. They have one of the widest selection of fabrics I have ever seen! And we are not talking JoAnn fabrics people. We are talkin plush, modern, exotic, traditional--pretty much anything you could ever imagine. Instead of splurging on a new dining set, bring your sturdy wing back chairs here and just pick out an updated fabric! Everything here feels custom and unique like nothing I have seen before. The store is just exploding with stimuli. From textured wallpaper, to throw pillows, chandeliers and more this place has everything you need for a quick fix, or a total renovation. The only reason for the four stars instead of five is because it is very expensive. I get the quality aspect, but I think if everything was lowered even $10-$20 they might get more traffic here, but honestly I don't think that is what they are going for. They keep their inventory fresh, surprising and gorgeous. While I have a plethora of great home stores to pick from, just steps from my door, none can compare to High Street in Cincinnati! The eclectic mix, and beyond cutting edge style of this Ohio gem is reason alone to visit Cincinnati. It exceeds many stores I've visited here in Chicago and even New York and LA. HighStreet is not your typical Cincinnati shop. It's a shop that makes you feel as if you live in London, Paris or New York. Because everything inside is so designy, so perfectly fitted together. It's a pleasure to just walk around, look through the interesting books, jewels, cushions etc. I'm not much of a design fan, but I did love browsing the shop and especially the book section: little notebooks, interesting novels - I had to stop myself from buying too much. Every time I go to High Street, I leave very sad that I don't have an unlimited budget to decorate. A lot of the furniture and lamps are out of my price range but it's a great store to buy accessories and get ideas. The styles cover a broad range of contemporary sleek and rustic. I always leave inspired. High Street has an amazing selection of fabric and wallpapers. This is one thing I decided to splurge on since I wanted paper in my bathroom but couldn't find anything remotely interesting or contemporary anywhere else. They also have an interior designer but that would have broke my budget for sure! The employees are helpful but not pushy. They seem genuinely happy to work there. The High Street Store is amazing. Be sure to pencil in a good hour or two for shopping at this eight-thousand square foot design studio and urban lifestyle store. All of the objects in the store have been selected based on a boundary-free modern London design motto. Each corner of the store has a different feel and design scheme to it, which keeps your shopping experience interesting and makes seeing everything a challenge. During my latest trip, I spent an hour looking through their book collection to try to find a birthday gift for my friend who is passionate about design. I ended up leaving with a book about natural architecture, a wedding gift, and a one of a kind vintage purse for myself. The art- work on display is probably most captivating to me but unaffordable. This place is so great. My Sister had been raving about it for months and on one of my last visits to my home town I got to visit for myself. This spot sits right on the cutting edge of every great thing happening in design right now. The combination of new and vintage items and the manner in which they are arranged invites you to stay for hours. I might add that upon entering, the low key and oh so cool design associate offers a cup of tea.......what's not to love? The book selection alone could have occupied hours of my time.....and were these beautifully appointed vignettes reading alcoves or model rooms.....? hard to tell there was such a comfortable vibe about the place. I am a decor blogger and there was so much to absorb and inspire my musings, I am sure I didn't catch it all on the first go.....I shall return! Though these folks offer a wealth of vintage items, none appear shabby or musty as they are given new life, refurbed, painted or reinvented in the expert hands of the on-location designers. I would never recommend shopping for furniture at this store. I went in with a picture of a particular chair I was looking for. The sales associate found on at a company they work with. Two weeks the chair was delivered. The chair was of really poor quality, seem off, warp cushioning. I called to advise and was told at first that special orders were non-returnable, but to send pictures. Upon sending pictures, they did advise me that the manufacturer agreed to issue a refund, but Highstreet refused to issue me a refund and only granted me an in store credit. I was in no rush to use the credit, since I found the chair I originally wanted at another vendor. I was contacted to pick a new chair and was offered limited options with no option of a refund. I ended up just picking the closest chair next to the "service area" and gave it to my nephew. A couple days after the transaction, I again advised of the situation and never received a response. If you want to throw away $1000.00, please visit this retailer. read more

I was first introduced to High Street by a friend who invited me to a trunk show that High Street was holding for an internationally-renowned jewelry designer. I thought at first that it might be a little intimidating. As soon as I walked in, though, an über-cool employee approached me with a warm greeting and an offer for something to eat and drink. High Street is dazzling. Everywhere one turns, there is something unique to see, to pick up and touch and to ooh and aah over. I thought it was mainly a furniture shop but it has almost anything you may be in need of (or in want of!). I honestly don't know what I enjoy most: the amazing jewelry, eclectic books, unique tchotchkes, the not-your-garden-variety clothing or the incredible furniture! There is so much to see that one visit hardly does the shop, or the shopper, justice. Having said this, I can't wait to go back and see what's new. I've been in this store a few times over the years and it's always the same stuff; they just move it around. They resell some things that look like flea market finds but with a 300% markup.
