RESEARCH the return policies before you make any purchase you think you might return. For a Christmas gift I went in the store and bought a very large scrabble board that with tax came out to be somewhere around $240 and I paid with cash. On Christmas morning my dad opens up the box to find a completely damaged board that looked like all of the wood was warped - the surface was bouncy, broken in areas, and completely uneven. I went to the store and intended to exchange it but of course it was out of stock in store. I decided to do an online exchange but they wanted to charge my credit card for a new one and would do the return on a separate transaction. I told them I didn't want to have a charge on my card and asked since I paid in cash if they could return it on a merchandise card and pay for it that way - they said they could not do that. So I decided to do a complete return and not even try to exchange and that's when they tell me that if you pay over $100 in cash they cannot refund you in the store, they have to mail you a check that takes 2-4 weeks to deliver. This policy is stated on the back of the receipt but you DO NOT know this until you've already completed your purchase! Since I had no other choice I agreed to get this mailed check - OF COURSE after we complete the process they tell me that the checks are processed on the 15th of each month. Today is the 30th. So the earliest I can get my money returned to me is a full month away at the end of January - but after doing research on other customer's reviews it sounds like in most cases it takes the full 4 weeks to be delivered so I'll most likely get it around Valentine's Day. This is RIDICULOUS.

Disappointed!!…read more After waiting nine weeks for delivery of my new bedroom furniture - I am disappointed in what was delivered. Quite frankly, I'm also angry. I paid $6500 - on sale - for a 3 piece bedroom set. A bed, a long dresser, and a nightstand. While it seems sturdy and looks lovely at first glance - I was delivered furniture full of insects holes! There are holes from wood boring beetles throughout my furniture. Across the top of dresser and on the sides, across the front on the drawers, on the top of nightstand and sides, on the headboard and footboard, and so on. Every piece that was used to make my bedroom set is damaged from bugs. Also, there is missing stain on the headboard. If I don't keep decorative pillows propped up, it is noticeable. I am so disappointed and feel that I overpaid for what was delivered. I was really looking forward to this set. It was to be the nicest bedroom set I've ever owned. I just moved and didn't move my old set - so I had my mattress/boxspring on the floor for nine weeks and lived out of boxes while waiting for delivery. It was uncomfortable and inconvenient but I thought it would be worth it once my new set was delivered. Then I was delivered a set with obvious evidence of wood boring insect damage. How sturdy is this furniture after it's been infested with wood boring insects?! Wood boring beetles cause disintegration of wood over time. The holes on the outside of the wood are from adult wood boring beetles but the major damage is done by the larvae that bore into the wood, tunneling through and feeding on the wood. The majority of the damage from these insects is in the inside of the wood. Unseen until your furniture starts to disintegrate. The set was custom made. You pick the color and it is stained for you. The wait is so long because you wait for your set to be made. They made my bed with wood that had evidence of insect damage! Was it made with the insects still in the wood?! Where is the attention to detail?! Especially when there is missing stain in a noticeable place. How can this store charge this kind of money for furniture that has insect damage?! That is not what was expected when talk of natural look of wood or natural imperfections in wood were mentioned. I thought I was purchasing quality furniture when I chose Verbarg's for my bedroom furniture. I am disappointed that my bedroom set was delivered with obvious insect damage. Additionally, I am angry that I paid as much as I did for furniture that is not up to par with what the showroom depicts. Make sure that you inspect you furniture closely when it's delivered.

I drove out to Amelia to see what they had. Tim Gilligan was excellent to work with and he showed me what they had in the showroom (huge inventory of all kinds of furniture). I saw a bed that I liked and I took a picture of it and came home and showed it to my wife (it is a 50th Anniversary present), and she liked it so we purchased it! It is solid cherry and I think it is a good value.
