The prices are quite high for what is a very basic (though clean and functional) room. Location is great for the racecourse, but a bit outside the city centre (10 minutes walk). The food was simplistic and overpriced - particularly the breakfast. Staff were polite and friendly - but I would only stay here again as a last resort - there's nothing really wrong with it, but it has absolutely zero charm.

Anyway, the owner Mark is a top top lad too, and shares the same great banter that you can find throughout the whole of Frodsham. If you also wanted a good nights sleep during your stay, the rooms are on point too, and you'll get your good nights sleep as long as Winnie isn't blasting out his mental tunes next door. But don't worry about that, he always bottles it when it comes to parties. Overall, you get what you pay for, a premium experience, and if you can't handle the banter, then go stay at The Bears Paw instead.

Service was consistently poor, staff were mostly unfriendly and what was meant to have been a 'special' weekend ended up being a real let down. I hasten to add that none of the negatives we experienced were down to Covid-19. The only positive experience during our stay was the wonderful lady who served us drinks in the brasserie. Sadly for the Grosvenor, the service she provided only amplified how poor most other elements of our stay had been.

No buffet, you have to book a time and order but there was a good variety. Rooms are very big with both a shower and bathtub, bed was very comfortable. The downside is that they do not clean your rooms daily, so you have to use the same towels and make your own bed unfortunately. I think this is due to covid, but was disappointed by it as I like a fresh towels and my room cleaned. Also no mini fridge in the room, but there is kettle, tea/coffee, safe, hairdryer, ironing board and free WiFi. Overall a nice traditional countryside English hotel with large rooms. This building like many others in this city is stunning and full of character. Dated from 1779 this country house is still lavish, with antique rugs, dark wooden furnishings and stairwell..the floorboards give that satisfying creak when you step on them. Anyway having checked in, the receptionist also takes £50 off your card, whatever you don't spend within the hotel they reimburse you..watch out for that. Each room is stunningly decorated, you can even watch tv while you have a dump :p we left the robes and slippers and walked down with our towels to the spa. The reception here provided us with towels and offered spa treatments ranging from £30 a back massage. We were here for the pool. ChAnging rooms were fabulous and spacious. With lockers, hair dryers and decent showers. Only dispute were old towels left behind..they should place a laundry basket here. Entering the pool was idyllic..the sun was just setting through the large conservatory windows. In the corner offers a Jacuzzi in which you activate by the switch..the pool was of decent size, overlooking the gym and the steam room was sufficient. The dry sauna was under construction though. Getting changed for dinner , we were led to a cosey room where a gent at the bar brought us our wine and a menu over. I believe it was three courses for just over £25. Bargain for Rosette quality food. Amongst the wood pigeon, I had the ricotta cheese bread crumbed balls,and mushroom risotto for main My friend ordered the pate and salmon for mains. A complimentary bruchetta was provided..making me first think the portions were going to be small. However food was spot on in quantity, and what I could taste (with a sinus cold) was divine. The waitress was very attentive, although we had to ask for butter for our bread. Overall a gorgeous hotel with food and service to match. I will be back.

We had the opportunity to check out their rooms. It's small and organized, but maybe that's just England. Noah's room had two twin beds for he and his roommate. The bathroom had a small standup shower, but it was all clean. I did not notice a closet (hidden or otherwise), if they had one. The staff downstairs seemed very nice. I'm interested in how they manage the group this week. Functional and location are what make the Ibis Liverpool a great place for those on the go.

The room itself was spacious with a small closet and a spaceship-like bathroom. I didn't really enjoy the shower but it was functional and came with a removable showerhead. The amenities that come with the room are sparse. There was a hot water percolator, tea, coffee, sugar, and semi-skim milk pods. There was a hair dryer for which I was pretty thankful for along with plenty of easy to find wall-plugs for electronics. One of the best things about Ibis is that they offer FREE wifi in all of their hotels. They don't have those mini shampoos or soaps but instead supply each room with two giant tubes of all purpose shampoo/ soap for environmental reasons. They only stock the rooms with 2 large towels so if you have another person traveling with you, you might want to request extra towels. The bed was comfortable and the heater was easy to use. The window was ajar when I arrived but it didn't open far due to a security cord keeping it from opening more than a few inches. The room is minimally decorated with a small TV, bench, and built in side tables. The lights are controlled by various switches throughout the room along with electrical outlets. The outlets have switches as well. The minimal decor reminded me of IKEA but it was a decent hotel room. The breakfast offered in the morning was AYCE with traditional English breakfast fare: eggs, hash browns, sausage, grilled ham/bacon, tomatoes, mushrooms, and beans. There was also yogurt, fruit, juice, coffee, tea, cereal, and breakfast bars available as well. They check your room number before dining and you also have to return your key card to the desk when checking out.

We stayed here for 3 nights chosen because of location ,CAMRA listed premises ,good value onsite parking . We stayed on the 5th floor in a standard room, which for two adults both with cases was a little small ,but ok for what we needed. Breakfast was buffet style and had the expected range of food and was OK. We would probably stay here again if visiting Chester it was handy for everything

I had the best facial here and will definitely stay again if I return to Chester. My stay was so relaxing. It is located in a perfect spot between the train station and the city centre.
