    Park Safe

    Park Safe

I think this is reputed to be one of the safest carparks you can ever park in. I certainly agree…read more They can happily boast about: no car theft no theft of contents from vehicles no vandalism or graffiti no vagrants, drug abuse or muggings, since opening 1998. Access to the carpark is as normal, through a barrier where you are issued a ticket. As you drive in and around, you notice yellow boxes attached to the floor, and a number on the wall of each bay. So park up and take note of the number of your bay. Before you leave the carpark, there are a few machines on the wall for you to secure your bay. Just type in your bay number, insert your ticket and the sensor under the car now detects that it is secure. Any movement of your car will now get flagged up in the control room. And on your return, as soon as you insert your ticket to pay for your stay, it releases your bay. Access to the whole carpark is very secure, as you can only get into the building with a ticket, and the gates where you drive in and out only open on arrival and close as soon as you're through. There are also panic buttons and cctv. The location is great aswell. Its not that close to the Westfield centre but its close to the Cathedral Quarter and I always use this place when on an alcohol-free night out! The cost might be slightly more than the average, but I don't mind paying that for the security it offers. For me, the type of person who goes back to check the front doors locked about 3 times, I do really like this carpark. It does feel very safe.

Stated as the safest carpark in the country, Park Safe is located slightly on the outskirts of town…read morenear the Magistrates Court and Queens leisure centre. As you enter the carpark, you take a ticket from the machine and gates open. You chose your parking spacce & there is an option to enter your bay into a machine which activates an alarm should your car be moved without deactivating the alarm. When you return to your car, you have to have a ticket to get into the building. You pay for your ticket at the machine and locate your car. As you reach the exit, you put the ticket into the machine and a gate will open for you to drive out. Prices to park are reasonable & about the going rate in Derby, with the additional advantage of peace of mind, knowing its nearly impossible for anyone to break in or steal your car whilst shopping! The only disadvantage I can think is that it is located the other side of town from the Westfields centre, which means you often have to walk a long way to reach Derby's main attractions.

    Q Park Liverpool One

I was told by the Aloft hotel to park in Vernon St car park…read more I was there 27 hours and was charged 42 Pounds. There is a huge sign on the building that reads "HOTEL PARKING 10 Pounds". Then I am informed that I should have parked in the NCP car park next door. I contacted Q Park and they were extremely rude and did not offer me any type of refund or credit. I would NEVER use this company again and I strongly advise anybody thinking of using them to find a different company.

Q-Park Liverpool ONE is the largest car park in the city centre, built into the Liverpool One…read morecomplex, it acts as a good spot to park for most of the city's attractions, with 1900 spaces. The Car Park is underground, located beneath Chavasse Park, which means the space is HUGE, so can be difficult to navigate, find your car and then get out. Also, the odds are you probably won't be able to get a phone signal in the car park, which was the case for me and my guests, using different mobile phone networks. The parking rates are VERY high, you're paying a premium for secure 24/7 indoor parking, with so many sketchy and dangerous places to park in the city, where I have previously had my car vandalised, I felt a lot better parking here, but still, with rates starting at £2.90 for 1 hour, and going up to £15.50 for 5 hours, £18.50 for 6 hours, it seems a little high especially as £15.50 for 5 hours works out at £3.10 per hour, so you're actually paying more per hour to park for 5 hours. The parking area is actually quite easy on the eye, it has a slick and modern feel to it. There are plenty of lifts to get up to the shopping centre in minutes PRO TIP: There are multiple sets of lifts/entrances, so do take note of where your car is to avoid getting lost. I did suffer an injury in the car park, tripping over a small metal bolt which was built into the ground, I managed to stop myself from falling, but this did seem very dangerous and like an accident waiting to happen. I did report this to Q-Park, who took a while to respond and investigate with their solution being "We couldn't find anything", despite sending them clear photos. 3* - If you're looking for a rare secure place to park in Liverpool with the added bonus of being right in the shopping centre, and a good location overall, and don't mind paying a premium for such luxury, then this is the car park for you.

    Cheshire Record Office

Cheshire's records are located in this small centre, just south of the centre of Chester, not far…read morefrom the new visitor centre. Housed in a refurbished warehouse, Chester's mediaeval walls are just a stone's throw away, adding to the sense of history. The Centre has all the familiar contents: Census returns from 1841 onwards, parish records from churches within both the present and traditional boundaries of Cheshire (eg so it includes modern Warrington), as well as an extensive archive of general records from this historic County. Access to the records requires a CARN (County Archive Research Network) card: if you don't have one, bring along a photo driving licence. Most of the older records are on microfilm, and they'll show you how to find the records and use the film-readers if you need help. There are lockers to store any bags and clothes: only paperwork is allowed in, and must be kept in a clear plastic bag, (presumably so you don't steal anything!) and you may use only pencils inside. You are advised to book film readers a day or two in advance. There is a small hot-drinks machine in the locker room, and a free water cooler. There is limited parking on site, but the town centre - and the large multi-storey behind the slightly sad 'Shopping Mall' on Pepper Street - are only five minutes' walk away. The railway station is on the other side of town: insider's tip: take the free bus link from the station forecourt into the centre, and then walk for about ten minutes along the line of old wall, towards the river and Duke Street. We found the staff to be very helpful and friendly, and enjoyed our day there, although we didn't find everything we were looking for. It looks like a return trip will be needed!
