Wow. Low blow here so let me set the record absolutely straight: 1. My kid had lice - Low dig and dishonest. But that's just a distraction from the actual content of my review --- quality of instruction and management sucks. 2. "highly sought after teacher" / "works 6 days a week" - what this really means is you're understaffed and overworking your teachers. If they're working 6 days a week how can they possibly meaningfully engage with their students? Don't confuse lack of teacher supply with quality of teacher. Parents are smarter than that. 3. We provide welcome packets for instruction. This completely misses the point. What about meaningful parent engagement to ensure practice at home? What about recitals to showcase learning? A packet is not a replacement for meaningful dialogue and musical learning. I repeat - we were there for almost a year, RECITALS NEVER HAPPENED. We doubled up with voice lessons + piano lessons. Parents --- do the math, this was a terrible investment. Conclusion: We've been at ZTunes and have never been happier. As a parent, I'm too busy to throw shade or unnecessarily put down small businesses. This experience was severe enough for me to do so (TWICE), because I feel like I have an obligation to parents out there who are just looking for a meaningful musical experience for their children. read more

I took my kiddo here for MusikGarten, an interactive sing-along music class. Miss Kaitlyn was awesome. Her class wore me and the kiddo out and taught me some musical activities I can do at home. Highly recommend the MusikGarten if you have kids. Before the class I walked around the facility and witnessed other activities going on. This place is legit. They take music from the fundamentals all the way to fine tuning veterans. Piano lessons and music theory for all ages. Hoping to find the time to get myself enrolled for piano lessons as well. read more

My Family and I love Highland Music Studio. Our Daughter started private lessons there at 4 , and she is now in her 2nd year at HMS. She has learned so much over the the last year and a half and really looks forward to attending her lesson once a week. The instructors she has worked with have always been so kind and friendly. As a parent with no formal music training, I wasn't sure what to expect when I enrolled my daughter in piano lessons at Highland Music Studio. In just a few short months, she has made fantastic progress, including beginning to read sheet music on her own and learning many different piano pieces (far exceeding my expectations). My daughter always looks forward to her weekly lesson, and leaves the studio with a big smile on her face at the conclusion of the lesson. My daughter has been taking piano lessons from Kaitlyn and loves it. I didn't know piano lessons could be so full of learning and fun. Her lessons include composing music, theory games and Kaitlyn makes sure to include music that students will really love. I'm enjoying watching my daughter grow on the piano. My four-year-old son has been taking weekly 30-minute lessons from this studio for nearly a year and he has really enjoyed the lessons. Instructor Kaitlyn Davidson, who is certified to teach music to students K-12, is great with him and has been really accommodating when he couldn't make a class or needed a schedule change. The lessons are in converted office space in the basement level of the Virginia-Highland Church. The studio is nicely appointed for piano lessons, (as shown in a picture by another reviewer). (The studio also teaches adults, the reviews so far on Yelp only cover child piano lessons). My son started with the "WunderKeys Piano For Preschoolers" books, which is in three volumes. The first deals with sounds, from high to low and long to short while getting acquainted with the piano. The second deals with patterns and the third learning about rhythm and notes. He's now doing the "My First Piano Adventure" series, which so far involves basic songs and transitioning from numbers to keys. My wife and I both have a background in piano and other instruments, as do our parents, so it's nice to see my son getting a good introduction to music from a talented and enthusiastic music teacher. read more

My 10 month old and I did the fall semester with Kaitlyn and really enjoyed a lot of different things about the classes. She had lots of instruments and props for the kids to play with, the songs were great, the location made it so easy to get to, we loved meeting other families, and you can reschedule classes without very much hassle. The materials are also nice but the app is great bc you can play songs for your kid. Kaitlyn goes out of her way to make special activities for the holidays which is also a huge plus. My only suggestion is better recall for the kids names, each class starts and ends by singing to all of the participants and Kaitlyn has a hard time remembering everyone's name. read more

We love our weekly Music Together classes! The songs are really catchy and we sing and dance to them at home too! My daughter is 10 months old and really enjoys the music and other children in the class. It is a great way to connect with other parents too. I highly recommend joining for children of any age! read more
