Boz and the crews at Highlights are fantastic! They did an excellent job on my project in May 2018 from quote through to completion, and I highly recommend them. Highlights is now my go-to electrical contractor for my personal and business needs. I bought an older multifamily building in Chicago that I found out was in need of electrical upgrades and repairs on the boxes and service (some "handyman wiring" from the previous owner). I gathered three different electrical quotes to repair melted wiring in a panel box, swap out incorrectly-sized breakers, and to modernize/upgrade the electrical service. Not only was Boz's quote the most reasonable (and accurate based on the information I could find online about that kind of work), but he looked at the problems I was having and offered additional solutions for a fair price such as installing lights in the basement room where the work needed to be completed (a total win-win since that room needed lights anyways, and I'm sure it made the working conditions better for his crew). Other electricians balked or quoted me outrageous sums when I asked them if they could split off the basement unit from the main building's electrical meter, but Boz took it in stride and his crew executed the work flawlessly. Overall, the crew from Highlights was clean, diligent, honest, and respectful throughout the project. They were able to start work quickly and completed the job within the estimated timeline of only 3 days. There were no unexpected charges. They pulled the permits with the city that were required and submitted the service upgrade paperwork with ComEd. Boz went out of his way to make sure that everything was taken care of - ensuring that both the work quality and aesthetics were considered. The crew seemed content with their work (no grumbling in my presence, anyways) and worked very well together under the crew leader. It shouldn't matter in this "modern" world, but as a woman hiring professional labor on my own, I found it particularly refreshing that the Highlights team was respectful and fair. The price was fair. The crew took instructions from me respectfully (and did not patronize) when I needed to point out a concern or adjustment. They were clearly decent people who care about how they represent themselves and their company and who's only goals were to provide an excellent service at a fair price (regardless of my gender) - which they succeeded at! read more

First of all note that I'm a contractor for 42 years. I am a small kitchen and bath remodeling contractor working primarily in the suburbs. I had a customer who asked me to help her sister in a kitchen remodel in Chicago which I don't typically like to do but did for a good long time client. So I sought out to find a local electrician in the area and searched both for a quality licensed contractor and one with good reviews. Highlights Chicago was definitely at the top as no one had quite or even close to the reviews that I found they had. Upon calling them Boz was able to look at the job the next day and even better, I got a proposal email the NEXT! This alone was already above and beyond any typical contractors response time. Then began process of going over the detail proposal and specifications which all went very smooth. Upon starting the job and now just finishing rough electrical I must say they are by far the best subcontractor I've worked with in many years, especially just working with them for the first time which has been as pleasant and professional as with subcontractors that I've worked with for over 20 years. The project scope was definitely not small it involved six new circuits all new appliance hookups, baseboard heater for 240, all new switch and receptacle boxes, 7 new can lights, removing old electrical that was not to code and never exceeding their base contract. I had to keep stopping the project superintendent Rolando from cleaning up after each and every hole he cut into a wall to allow me to take care of that, while he can continue his true profession. There was as many as four electricians at any given time and all were conscientious of the home they were in and cleanliness throughout the process. Rolando never hesitated to ask a question to be sure of what I wanted for final result in this project. Upon finishing rough electric he walked with me through the job to be sure that I was happy with everything before he left he was in no rush even though it was after 6:00. I will continue another review upon final electric but I'm sure it will be as good as experience as the few days of work with them so far! I used Highlights about a year ago to install a light fixture in my apartment, and everything went perfectly (please read my previous review)! Now a condo owner, I needed to have a ceiling light installed as well as have a new outlet added in my laundry closet. Boz stopped by to perform the estimate, and he was very straightforward, providing both a plan A (which involved using existing conduit for the new outlet) and a plan B (running new conduit up to the ceiling and to the breaker box). The light installation was rather straightforward. When the time came to move ahead with the project, I had a few challenges scheduling that I did not encounter previously. I chalked this up to the current high demand for tradespeople and also to a family emergency with my main contact at Highlights. Once scheduled, Boz returned with Ben and an assistant, who ran conduit for the light fixture and replaced the wall box to a 2-gang box. Ben was also able to use existing conduit to run the laundry outlet wiring, a big positive! Highlights was willing to work with me on a second visit by Ben, since my light fixture did not arrive by the time of the first visit. Ben and an assistant came back out to install the fixture once it arrived, and did a great job. I had a few minor quibbles this time around, with scheduling (as mentioned) and with the work. For example, the laundry outlet was to be put on a new breaker, but it was wired to an existing (but essentially unused) breaker instead. Functionally it all works the same, but there was a minor misunderstanding somewhere along the way. All in all, I'm quite happy with the work and I'll use Highlights again in the future! read more

It is quite hard to find "good" contract work. It is even harder to find "good" contract work done by really nice and genuine people. Juve and Marin, two electricians from Highlights Chicago, came to complete a project at my property and they were absolutely delightful. They were respectful and aware of all of the rules that needed to be followed in high rise buildings, they were extremely patient navigating the tough parking situation, elevator challenges, and back and forth trips to bring materials and tools from their vehicles to the 4th floor unit. They spent ample time not only answering all of my questions but walking me through the process so that I was becoming educated about what was happening along the way. They did a phenomenal job with the actual electrical work, replacing a full electrical panel, several outlets in the kitchen and bathroom, and moving light fixtures. They go above and beyond what you would expect for electrical work. To add to the great experience, Bozidar, the managing director at Highlights, was exceptional in following the progression of the project with kindness and expertise. We simply cannot recommend Highlights Chicago highly enough. They handled all the electrical work for our new house, which is a massive job, and they were truly outstanding from start to finish. I called Boz for an estimate for some work to be done in my garage and closet. I left my contact information and later that night around 7:30 he asked for my address through text and as I'm typing my information, he said he was at my home. Very prompt!!! He looked at what I needed done and said that it would most likely be into the next week (this was a Thursday evening consultation). Around 8:30 that same night, he texted again asking if tomorrow (next day Friday would work for us). I was so amazed that he was able to get the work done so quickly. Boz and his team got set up and went right to work. Ben was the point man for the job as Boz had to leave and handle other responsibilities. Ben did an amazing job, he was extremely polite and easy to talk with as I came in for things from the garage. All in for the work I needed, they were very fast, not even a half-day of work. When they were all finished Boz and I settled with the cost of the work and I could not believe the price he was giving me. I honestly thought it would have costed a lot more than what he charged me. Highlights did a bunch of work on our house. We had used them previously to do work in our condo (they were the best to install a couple of ceiling fans--previous review). We moved to an older home and they have been out twice. First to install and update a bunch of wiring and outlets. The latest time, they came out to install a couple of outlets for a sump pump, but because the breaker box was small and outdated we ended up just upgrading to 200 amp service. Not only were they able to get it scheduled within a week (big job), they also cleaned up a bunch of the wiring in the basement. Boz (the main contact) is great--very helpful and a nice guy. His crew was very professional and worked hard for two days. The city inspector was just out to review the work for the permit, it was a quick inspection and passed with no issues. I did get one other quote for comparison (from a place that a co-worker recommended) and their quote was within $100 of Highlights for the 200 amp upgrade. Our experience is that Highlights does high quality work and their prices are reasonable. We have recommended them to our friends who need electrical work. read more

Excellent from start to finish. Boz returned my call quickly, came out to take a look and provided a quote the next day, which detailed the services included and proposed cost. He was responsive to questions that I had, scheduled a day and time to perform the work, told me about how long he anticipated the work to take, he and his crew showed up on time. The work was very neat and professional and the items installed were of good quality. His team was polite, easy to deal with, and focused on the work. After they were done, the area was left clean and in good order. My electrical service was replaced, feeder to and including panel. To give some comparison, I had contacted several other electricians before Highlights Chicago. The other electricians gave me the run around for weeks or vague responses. Even after sending photos and a brief description of work, none of the others came out for a look or was able to furnish a formal quote or tell me what was included in their ballpark estimates. I'm usually not compelled to write reviews though I was impressed by Highlights Chicago. Would use them again without hesitation. read more

I had called several electrical companies and they either didn't service my area Englewood, Chicago or were tied up with previous jobs. However, one referred me to Highlights Chicago THIS WAS THE BEST REFERRAL EVER! I called Highlights and within two days Boz from Highlights came out to give me an estimate. He was so cheery friendly professional and took his time, never rushing me as I explained our electrical problems. I got his proposal for the work within a day. It was detailed and gave pricing for each job. I accepted on Thursday and Highlights was at the property by Tuesday. They arrived on time and Boz was there to introduce his three electricians- Wil, Geraldo and Ben. They were so professional worked steadily in 86 degree weather only stopping for lunch-the job was an all day, literally accomplishment. I am so pleased with the work it is a family occupied building and everyone is estatic with what was done in each of their apartments and the lights on the two back porches. I contacted Highlights Chicago about the loss of lights in several rooms at my father's residence. I set up an appointment with Anna. She was able to have someone out that same day in the afternoon. Raul arrived within the window set up by Anna. He was able to repair the wiring in one of the outlets that caused the lighting problems in the house. Raul was just wonderful! My father is older so I asked Raul to call and update me on what needed to be done to complete the project. Raul took the time to update me on the project which I greatly appreciated. He even replaced a lightbulb in the dark hallway which was so nice of him! The price quoted by Anna was on target, and I immediately received the invoice for the project. I can't overemphasize how great this company is with their customers. Their professional demeanor and personalized assistance immediately established trust in this company. We needed to run a new electrical line for an electric range we wanted to install in my daughter's second-floor apartment instead of a gas stove. The electrical contractor we first contacted could not schedule the job for another month but referred us to Highlights Chicago if we needed it done right away. I'm very glad the first contractor could not do it in the first place as I found Highlights Chicago to be absolutely awesome. They responded right away to our call, came out the next day to evaluate the situation, give us an estimate, and set up the time for the installation. They were so easy to communicate with and were very efficient, timely, and professional all throughout the whole process. They ran a new line from the circuit breaker box in the basement to the second-floor apartment, while taking good care of the aesthetics. I must say they did a great first-rate job! I called Boz in the morning to have an issue with our electrical panel checked out, which was found in a home inspection and everyone at the company was extremely friendly and accommodating. I was referred here by the owner of Skyline Electric, since they couldn't fit us in. We were hoping to get this issue addressed ASAP and Boz assured me they would get someone out between 12-2. I got a text message with a better time frame and the technician was even early! Mike showed up and he was friendly, compassionate and very knowledgeable. He is just a great person all around. He was able to quickly figure out the issue, fix it on the spot and had the upmost professionalism. He cleaned everything up and wouldn't accept my help. I received an email soon after of a detailed account of what was completed to ensure to our buyers the problem was properly taken care of and everything was safe. Cannot recommend Highlights Chicago enough! We were looking to add some lighting to our condo, and they were able to get us on the schedule very quickly. The team wore masks and worked efficiently to get the job done in just one day. They also went above and beyond and fixed some track lighting and made great suggestions for each room on where to put the fixtures, how high, etc. They even came back about a week later to install a new dimmer which we purchased after the project, (free of charge)! Their initial quote was reasonable/came in under other quotes, and overall price of the project was lower than what we expected- a nice surprise. The entire team was professional from start to finish, had great communication throughout the entire process, and followed up to make sure everything was done to our satisfaction. These guys are absolutely AWESOME! Kemal took my initial request and was so attentive scheduling Raul and Jose to install several light fixtures in my Rogers Park condo. They removed an old ceiling fan from my bedroom and replaced it with a new ceiling fan I purchased. They also installed a new fixture in my dining room and installed a new light fixture in my living room. The new fixtures were still in the boxes so they put everything together too, saving me hours of frustration. The guys were so patient, showed up on time, put booties on their feet and wore their masks. With the new fixtures, I decided to replace ugly wall sconces and contacted Kemal again and sent someone over in 1 hour! Wow! This time Elvir arrived and once again, put booties on over his shoes and wore his mask. Elvir is super tall, 6'6" so he didn't even need a ladder! He carefully measured and made sure the sconces were even and they look great. Highlights Chicago are the best!!! read more

I highly recommend Highlights. Needed a second opinion on some electrical repairs, and Baz was able to make it out for an estimate the next day (he would've come the same day if I'd been available!). Not only was he able to match the competitor's price, but he included a few small additional services on top, and was able to book me only 3 days later (again, would've been 2 if not for myself). Raul and Jose showed up on time, in masks, and made an effort to keep as much of the snow outside as possible. Then they spent 2 hours outside installing a ground rod when it was only 5 degrees F. They cleaned up my electrical panel and installed a new circuit to replace a hazardous power strip in the basement left behind by the previous owner. When they were finished, Jose took the time to mop up any slush from outside, which was very much appreciated. I'm very happy with the work they did. Highlights Chicago Electric did an outstanding job with upgrading the electric panel and meter in our new home. It was worth every penny from beginning to end. We had an emergency situation where the other electrician we had worked with told us he couldn't do the work 2 days before our move in date. Luckily we found Highlights Chicago. The project manager Boz came for an inspection same day and got us in for an installation appointment in no time. We had the pleasure to have the technicians Juve, Mile and Martin come onsite. They did an excellent job replacing the panel, changing the meter and wiring a radon mitigation system for us - all was completed in one and a half day with no hassle. The entire team was polite and friendly. They were on time and responsive and even cleaned up the basement after completing the work. I highly recommend Highlights Chicago.
