I was immediately struck by how articulate Dave was when I contacted him by phone. He immediately made an appointment with me and was very punctual in arriving at my home. He expertly handled two problems that I had with my cars, one electrical and one major engine problem. On my 2002 Nissan Maxima, he diagnosed and repaired the accelerator which had malfunctioned and left the car unable to accelerate at all. He found that it was the accelerator's electrical censor. Best of all, he was able to salvage and repair the old censor which means I did not have to buy any expensive parts for the car. The next repair he did was nothing short of miraculous. My 1994 Volvo 850 had been diagnosed with a blown head gasket and cracked head. The estimate I got for repair was for $4000. The car wasn't really worth this amount of money, so I just parked it in my driveway for 6 months. Then I read on yelp about Dave and his Thermaweld product which is a chemical compound that repairs the blown head gasket from the inside. I had heard about this kind of stuff before but many users said that these things rarely work. Well, apparently, Thermaweld is different because it worked!! I had a 2pm appointment to meet with him at the dealership in Sacramento. I don't have gps on my phone (not a smartphone) but i researched directions and wrote them down.Made it to Sacramento, but I got lost in the city (missed my exit ..first time driving there)..was 45min. late. I prepaid the night before and called to say he could go since I made him wait soo long..not wanting him to be late for his next appointment. He said no problem "I'll come pick you up. Just tell me where you are". I was so surprised and blown away. I don't know anyone else who do that for a customer. I was 25 miles away, but he came and i followed him to the dealer. He took his time to check the car out. Talked with me explaining step by step what he was doing and what it means. He even drove the car with me checking out the car explaining things like how the car shifts from reverse to drive..would have never thought about it. Even stayed behind to offer to talk to the dealer with me to try to get the price down since found a small issue that needed fixing. Talked with me privately after conversing with dealer on what I thought. My first time buying a car. Really nervous. He didn't leave till I was comfortable. It was almost 6pm by this time (four hours pretty much half a day.. soo patient with me). I did end up getting the car. I couldn't have done it without David. I believe the best thing that happened that day was meeting David, then getting the car. He's honest, patient, caring, highly skilled, high integrity, and a great person on top of all that. Searched craigslist found 15 started calling. I told him i dont know anything about cars. He professionally quoted prices, scenarios, situations. All of them were better options than getting car towed to shop, then evaluated by mechanic, ??? . Advsd him what AAA told me blah blah. He showed up first thing in the morning i paid him his first offered evaluation and service fee and wanted to assist him in any way. He ended up electronically rewiring my 2006 ford focus in a way that i saved me probably $300 to $400 easily. I highly recommend this mechanic. I was in need of a reliable independent mechanic to inspect a used vehicle that I was considering purchasing. David's shop was open on a Sunday, which was huge. I saw his other reviews and called to see if he could squeeze me in. He responded promptly. He thoroughly and exhaustively checked the vehicle and explained to me each of the items he was checking as he inspected the truck. The vehicle was a 2018, and just one year old, so I was surprised when he discovered a leak in the oil pan - a potential minefield for a prospective buyer. Let me start off by saying that I created a Yelp account solely for the purpose of leaving this review. That should tell you something right off the bat. Over the weekend, during 108 degree weather, my car decided to overheat. I had a friend work on it over the weekend, but he ran out of time before having to go back to work on Sunday and wasn't able to finish replacing my thermostat that was stuck shut. That left me pretty much stranded and having to find a mechanic on a Sunday. So, I got on Google and typed in "mechanic open Sunday". Dave was one of the first few to pop up. He already had great reviews, so I called him up, hoping that he'd be available. He didn't answer his phone, so I left a message and moved onto my next option. Pep Boys. I was desperate to have my car fixed before Monday. They were open and available to fix it right then, so I jumped in my overheating car and made my way over there hoping they wouldn't charge me an arm and a leg and give me a list of other things that were wrong when all I wanted was my thermostat replaced. Just as I was walking in (no more than 30 minutes after I had left a message for Dave), he called back. His garage just happened to be 2 minutes down the street, so I opted to have him fix my car rather than Pep Boys. And boy, am I glad I did! He was extremely thorough in checking my car to make sure that it was in fact the thermostat that was stuck shut, running pressure tests, the whole nine. He took his time showing me everything and explaining everything along the way. After the repairs were done, he even spent a good 30 minutes driving around with me just to make sure that it wouldn't start overheating again and that the problem was fixed. Dave is extremely HONEST (a rarity to find...especially when you're a woman), professional, knowledgeable, and his prices can't be beat for the friendly, personal service he provided. I couldn't be happier with the experience. He even called me later that day and again a few days later just to check in and make sure that everything was still running well. Who does that!? Dave does. I found Dave during a desperate time, but I'm so beyond grateful that I did and for what he did for me. I will be back for sure time and time again. I called David on a Saturday morning and he responded very quickly and we were able to set up a time for him to come to me by the afternoon. From beginning to end he was professional and knowledgable. We thought I needed a battery but after checking it he said no it's not needed and just charged the battery I already had. I found David on Craigslist while I was looking for a mechanic to check out my A/C. The system stopped working after a repair I had done at a different place a while back, and after calling a few shops on Google, I found that the price varied quite a bit. So I hit Craigslist, and David's quote was far cheaper than anyone else. I made the drive from NoHo to Canoga Park to meet him, and it was worth it. Finally got to work with David for a pre-sale inspection on a car. We arranged a meeting at the seller's house in Culver City and his fees for the inspection/travel were very reasonable. We just got back from here, and I had to write a review. From all previous Yelp reviews, we found David and were appreciative that he was open on a Sunday. All of our windows would not work, seemed like an electrical system problem. We called David and he said we could head over right away. He was very professional, kind, and friendly. He does work out of his own garage, however he does honest good work. He was very knowledgable, and taught us about our car. You don't find a lot of mechanics that will take you step by step into diagnosing your car and showing you how to fix the problem if it arises again. Thankfully we only had to reset the circuit switch, and David showed us how to do it in the future. Thank you for your professionalism, hard work, and kindness. I don't understand why mechanics need to make soooo much money!! It is actually not smart thing to do, because this way they lose more than they gain. They have to understand that the competition is great and people are no longer fooled easily. I was very upset when I was quoted so much at firestone and it was suggested I have to buy tires immediately ( David told me that that is not true). .I checked around, then left message to David. Soon he replied with text message. I text him back asking for quote to the work suggested by firestone and he texted back his price, saving me hundreds of dollars less than firestone (even though I told him how much they quoted me) When I met DavidI I knew he is a smart man who knows that client's trust is the real gain . Last Tuesday , my battery holder broke causing a metal "rod" to catch on fire and burn some parts underneath the battery. I got check engine light and thought I was gonna have a serious problem. My old mechanic had put some wooden block to hold my battery.. Which pretty much fucked up the holder. Had to miss work on Wednesday and I look everywhere for a "mobile" mechanic. I found David on Yelp when my father arrived with his 1990 Dodge Caravan at my new home in Reseda, traveling from Torrance and it overheated when he exited the 101 Freeway. He did arrive at my home safely, but what to do in a new community...call AAA and have it towed to an unfamiliar auto repair shop or try a mobile auto repair?! Well, I went with the latter and it was the BEST decision I could have made. David was able to come and diagnose the issue with my Dad's van - radiator and old hoses. He was able to order the parts, pick them up and return to do the repairs. His fees are extremely reasonable and I just got a very good sense that he HONESTLY cared to do the job right, repair my Dad's van and get him home safely. NOTE: My Dad is 88 years old, still can drive, but the concern is ALWAYS there. David spent a great deal of time with the repair work and went above and beyond what I believe any other auto repair shop would have done to make me feel comfortable to allow my Dad to drive home alone. Thanx Yelp and all who recommend Dave. He was prompt, knowledgeable and professional. I needed brakes on my Expedition. He quoted me a price of $200 brake pads and rotors, (if needed) travel to Santa Clarita included. Turns out my brakes were completely shot and my calipers needed replacing as well the normal charge was $100 he charged me 60. My brakes were completely shot. I did have to go across town to find all the parts while he waited for two long hours very patiently. I felt extremely guilty having him wait, but he was completely understanding and totally gracious. I bought him lunch for which he continued to express his gratitude. As a young teenage girl my father forced my sister and I to go to Pep Boys every Saturday morning for quite some time and watch him and his brother work on our car, so I learned quite a bit about cars, more than most girls. And I can pretty much feel when I'm being jerked around by a mechanic. Dave is top notch he delivers optimum service for a fraction of the price. The parts cost me a fortune and his labor was only 260 for which he apologized as being costly because of travel. I know I could at least double the 260 at an auto repair shop.
