Went to their listed physical address at 730 Columbus Ave., it turns out to be a liquor store and an apartment building. Neither of them is aware of fancy pants cleaners. It makes me wonder if they are still open for business. To be fair, I have been using their services for 2 years now and this is the first time I really had to contact them for something lost. They have been awesome otherwise, except the lack of responsiveness this time. I will update this review when I manage to reach someone who works there.

I've been using Fancy Pants for W&F, laundering men's shirts, and dry cleaning for almost 3 years…read morenow. They are super convenient and offer excellent value -- cheaper than the nearby cleaners in every neighborhood I've used them so far (Harlem, Morningside Heights, and now FiDi). Not quite as cheap as a place in El Barrio I used to frequent, but that place was also cash only, and of course did not offer pickup / delivery service. Like any service, Fancy Pants is not perfect. Over the years I've had: * One pair of custom wool suit trousers completely ruined. Looks like it was put thru the wash on high heat; came back scratchy and 4 inches shorter. After sending it back for examination, we settled on $100 store credit toward future orders. * High end flannel shirts lost their brushed luster after just 1-2 washes. I suspect they did not follow my special instructions, but instead machine dried them with the rest of the normal cotton shirts. I did not complain, simply opting to hand wash such items myself from then on...IMO, it's best to leave the "special instructions" section to stain treatment & dry cleaning, rather than freeform requests. * Twice, an entire load of W&F was swapped with someone else's. Both times, they called me promptly (before I had even discovered it!) and exchanged the bag asap. * A few misc items that don't belong to me have appeared in my W&F. Nothing serious, just the occasional sock or panty. The one time it was multiple items in the same wash, I emailed them a photo, which they promptly identified and picked up within the hour. All in all, I'd call this above average. Notably, I've never lost a button off any of my shirts or jackets, nor had a sleeve or collar ripped -- usually those symptoms are par for the course with automated press machines over the long haul, unless you pay $5+ for your shirts to be hand finished, which I do not. Nor have I had any permanent stains, nor had dyes bleeding to/from other garments. Occasionally, it takes more than 1 email or voicemail to get Veronica's attention, but once we're in touch they are quite responsive. I'm happy to be an ongoing customer.

I bought it at a sample sale and it was several sizes too large for me. George is a complete miracle worker and was patient with the 9 fittings that were need to make sure it was taken in correctly. The staff was even accommodating having it delivered to my apartment several days before my wedding to ensure that if anything last minute was needed there would be time before I left.

DAMAGED VINTAGE PUCCI DRESS, UNAUTHORIZED TAILORING OF THE HEM…read more Dropped a dress off for a spot treatment for a stain on the top of the dress. As shown on my receipt asked for spot treatment only, hand wash only, and delicate care of vintage item. Upon pick up was charged $400 and when asked about the price difference they told me that was for the tailoring. They tailored my vintage dress without my permission, likely due to damage to the dress while in their care. Upon inspection, they hemmed the bottom of the dress without ever having me try it on. Then tried on the dress and it was nearly 6 inches shorter than the dress I dropped off. I asked them to restore the dress to original condition. The issue was then escalated to Leah (manager) and Mr. Hallak. What they returned was appalling. Not only did it somehow look worse with weird mismatching fabric that I am not sure where they got it from it had new damage, stains, and looked absolutely horrible. They single handed ruined an irreplaceable, special vintage Pucci piece. No effort was made to actually remedy the HUGE mistake of their end or explanation of why the dress was even altered in the first place. They only agreed to refund $400 dry cleaning amount, nothing for damaging my dress. IF YOU CARE ABOUT SOMETHING DO NOT BRING IT HERE THEY WILL DAMAGE IT. THEN PROCEED TO TELL YOU IT LOOKS THE SAME. Just around the corner from my place, I decided to take a chance with the route 112 laundromat. Janet, the older woman at the desk with the long white hair was very hospitable and welcoming. My first impression made me feel more like family than a laundry client. She assured me that my clothes were in good hands with her and that she had years of professional experience handling delicate and high end clothing. I had zero qualms after speaking with her and now Janet has a life long customer. When I come back to patchogue for Thanksgiving, I'll be trusting my clothes with Janet. Unfortunately, my summer excursion went by way too fast but I could enjoy it without worry once I saw the phenomenal care to detail Janet paid to my garments.
