I always see the same man working alone in the store and this little store can become quite busy. They have a huge selection of magazines and newspapers as well as all the basic items you might need. Their shelves are always fully stocked which is a plus. I am not exactly sure if they accept credit cards, never tried due to so many people coming in and out and I don't want to inconvenience everyone else for the sake of £5 or so. They sell bus passes and travel cards and you can top up Oyster. I am almost sure that they open at 7 in the mornings, so if you ran out of credit, tada! There is no cash point in the area, so be prepared. Oh and they do sell scratch cards and the National Lotto.

It is well stocked, reasonable prices for the items it sells, and yes the same man always works there! Sometimes he has an assistant, but not often. They do open about 7am, and stay until about 7-8pm 7 days a week. It does get very busy as it is the only local shop to offer Oyster top-ups, bus passes and sell Oyster cards, otherwise you have to travel to a shop near Sainsbury's to get Oysters. If the newspaper you want is out of stock, come back in the evening and a fresh stack will be waiting. It is very clean there, and very well run. Odd times it is closed until later in the morning, but as the one man runs it, of course this can happen due to delays etc. However this is rare, and he will always be open each day in the end. They do take bank debit cards at a 50p standard charge, not sure about credit cards. They even sell batteries!

You can also buy your Oyster cards here or get a top up in the mornings. A word of warning though, there's usually huge queue on a Monday morning so either get it the night before or be prepared for a long wait - this has often made me late for work. I love this little newsagent's... it's always been really handy when passing through Clapham Junction.

I was an irritable customer in search of a good power bank together with the right charger and the right cables. I'd had bad luck with another store (which shall be nameless) and wanted to be 100% sure I was getting exactly the right equipment. He gave me his undivided attention for at least 10 minutes and we picked out precisely what I needed. He also saved me £23 on the deal to boot! Give that man a raise someone.

The selection of drinks and to-go stuff is okay they even sold a flavour of Iced Tea, the Lipton Green tea with mint which I've only ever seen in the Netherlands and in London St Pancras' WHSmith which is located virtually across the way from here, it's a little pricey with a lack of multi-buy offers or meal deals which other WHSmith stores used to offer, it's a real shame they've continued these offers as it made the prices slightly affordable. At the end of the day most retailers outside of locations can offer two drinks for £1.80 - £2, here they expect you to pay that for one bottled drink! The checkout area was a little messy, with only one manned desk and the staff seemed unhelpful. One of the better places to get essentials ahead of a journey ahead of Kings Cross, it is probably better for drinks while Little Waitrose across the way is better for food and snacks, WHSmith is a common brand one would find in a railway station and it pretty much is an average store let down by pricing and the checkout area, but still with a good enough choice and overall feel to not warrant such a low rating. 3*

WHSmith's in Dartford is one of there smaller stores , they sell magazines, some books, dvds, cards…read moreand a bit of stationary.The store is always busy with customers even though of its size.WHSmith in Darford is always well stocked and full of products.The staff are friendly and helpful.There are never any long ques.I am always surprised of the amount of stock they have in the store in Dartford, but it is all good.They offer a good service and have enough staff to answer any questions which you may have and they make you feel welcome as a customer.The store has been there a few years and always seems the same to me and not a lot changes in a good way.

To compliment there poor range of gift cards? A mystery! You can buy all your local newspapers here and it's good to save a bit of cash on your cinema sweeties if you're visiting the odeon. One of the only two places in Muswell hill where you can top up your oyster card which comes in very handy although it does shut at 7.
