It's been a year now. I waited to write this review based on how angry I was with Fred Taylor Sr…read more after his unfortunate representation in my case. I first called 3 to 4 other lawyers seeking advice, all of which had been to far from my location! I went with Mr. Taylor because his Christian approach "his phone message with his so called values", his determination to take care of my problem, me and was a short distance from my location. Mr. Taylor had a very high retainer of $3500.00. I expressed that it was a lot of money depleting my saving and he assured me that it wouldn't all be spent. He assured me that he was the best in the business and this could take time. More like a marathon and not a sprint! Six months go by with no progress. Three pre trials and finally a trial set up just to talk to the judge! After the notice of first trial appeared the week after I receive a letter from Mr. Taylor asking to settle new balance for over 1400.00 and new retainer of 3500.00 for continued representation. Wow! Remember, Now all that's happened at this point is Mr. Taylor has pushed three pre trials to gather facts, right! I ask him what's going on, I'm confused to why my $3500.00 is gone and what's his strategy. He responses, I told you it was going to be a marathon and the more we can prolong this the more they will want to resolve it . That was his plan, no facts gathered like he said he was doing. All just to make the other side want to settle in time. At this point I tell him to put it on hold, bc this was the first time he'd been forth coming with his brilliant plan. I consult with other lawyers. All of which knew of Mr. Taylor's reputation and couldn't believe his cost for a case like mine. I fired Mr. Taylor finally cost $ 4900.00. Hired another lawyer for 1500.00 and within two weeks my case was dropped and finally faith in the system restored. I would not recommend Mr. Taylor. Hope this never happens to anyone else. Have a blessed day!

He was so nice, professional and knowledgeable. As it turned out my case needed to be managed in another state, but Justin kept me in the loop about the issues and options until it was time to locate another attorney. He was able to lay the groundwork for my case. It was worth every penny, and a very positive experience. I would highly recommend this law firm and in particular Justin. Thank you Justin!!

For months I would receive no calls letting me know the status of my case, and when I would call Van Den Huevel Law, they would charge me fees to tell me that they haven't heard anything from the court. Finally, after 19 months, and five months before my previous call to them, I called again. When I called it seemed as though they were surprised to hear from me as they had forgotten my case. The next day they called me. This is a first! They called me. They told me my case finally has a date set for a hearing in just a couple weeks. Great! I finally have my day. However, on that day before the court in a video hearing the judge asked Howard why it is that his office had not contacted the court about this case. Howard in his defense, not my defense said that he had been waiting for the courts to contact him. And this continued on for several minutes before returning to focus on the purpose of that days hearing in which the judge confirmed it had been too long a period and that his case with the court is dismissed without prejudice. I was very appalled with this revelation. After the hearing I was asked by Howard if I would like to appeal the courts decision and bring my case to the appeals court of Michigan. Wow! I couldn't believe that this man who just failed me bold fased in front of a judge would ask for me to let him represent me further. In appeals court. I told him NO, and I will talk to him further after at a later time. One week later I received a letter from the court letting me know my date for a hearing in appeals court. ONE WEEK LATER I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM THE COURT LETTING ME KNOW MY DATE FOR AN APPEALS HEARING. WHAT!?! I immediately contacted his office telling them to stop with the appeal, in which they advised me that I needed to come to their office and sign a paper that relieves them of any further duties. All of which they continued to charge me fees for, INCLUDING THE APPEAL THEY FILED WITH THE COURTWHICH I NEVER WANTED AFTER HEARING AND SEEING THE JUDGE REPREMAND HOWARD FOR INCOMPETANCE. Why would I want an attorney who failed me continue to represent me? There is no chance in hell I would again get treated the way I did by this firm. I continued to fight against the additional charges/fees applied to me for them filing an appeal. Five years later. I don't understand such a breakdown in communication. And many payments paid through their online portal CLIO were not recorded as paid. Money out the window.

I also have further reviewed the conduct of Mr. Glaza on my case and thought more about Mr. Grabel, and find them both unacceptable and untrustworthy. I did indicate something about Mr. Glaza on Driver's license restoration, but that was just based on information he gave me. In the end it's best just to avoid this firm altogether. Sadly, the firms seems far more about making money than anything else. I felt Mr. Glaza vacillated between indifference and a lack of understanding more than anything else, and was overly judgemental and wrong about way too many things.
