Our Neighborhood has been a wonderful center for our younger son. He's been there since he was…read morefour months old, and he has really thrived. The classrooms are spacious and comfortable and well-tended and filled with items appropriate to the age groups, mostly eco-friendly and natural objects. The teachers are incredibly creative in coming up with new objects and collections and themes for the children to learn and experience at every age, and the low caregiver-child ratios ensure plenty of focused attention through the day. The teachers carry through on a philosophy of respect and trust in the children, helping them learn to manage their emotions, to understand their world, and to work together with peers and teachers confidently and with empathy. Our son has had the same main teacher for two years, moving from classroom to classroom together with his cohort of similarly-aged friends, and she has been a true partner for us in his growth and development, with lots of feedback and observations for us to treasure. And the center hosts a private parents-only Shutterfly site where they post TONS of photos of the children every week. Priceless. He is loved, safe, happy, confident and learning so much, and he loves going to see his friends every day at school. He amazes me every day with what he has learned and who he is becoming as an Our Neighborhood kid. Far beyond a typical daycare, and totally worth it.

As a parent, please limit your interactions with the owner Reagan Ralston. It's best to capture…read moreyour communications with her via email. Overall, she appears nice and approachable. However, there are behavioral concerns in which she highly deflects and does not take accountability for her and others' actions. For someone who does not have an active teaching licensure (or other educational licensures), she sure comes across as a subject matter expert. Yes, she owns and operates her business but as a professional, she should assess and evaluate and be receptive to feedback. In recent experience, she has "flip the script", verbally abused adults and several children, and became retaliatory.

We paid the $330 enrollment fee and first week tuition and completed all of his enrollment paperwork to reserve the spot with instructions to get back in touch with them a month before he was scheduled to start.  Unfortunately with the onset of COVID-19 and impacts to the childcare industry, we mutually agreed with Reagan on 3/19  that our child would join them when we felt that it was safe for him to attend. Upon my return to work, we connected with Reagan via email to inquire about us wanting to send them (9/3) and she responded to confirm their mobility capabilities and that she would be in touch with a start date for us.  This was unfortunately the last we heard from her despite the numerous email and phone outreaches from my husband and I to inquire about his spot or any updates. The lack of communication was so apparent that we actually had assumed the daycare may have not been operational which we would have understood. As new parents who were transitioning to the idea of sending our child to daycare during a pandemic, this time was made immensely more stressful by being completely ghosted from a child care center we had secured before our child was even born. Today I called the center again to try and get any update from my cell phone and was forwarded to voicemail. However when I  immediately hung up and called from my office line, I was finally able to get a person to answer.  I was then told by Reagan that she could now have a spot available for him in "early November" which is why she could not refund our initial deposit when I inquired about a refund.  She also claimed that she had left a voicemail informing me of the spot to my cell which I have no record of on my end. However, even if the voicemail did exist it does not excuse the several attempts we made to get an update from the center that went unanswered. To be clear, I cannot comment on the quality of care that Bright Eyes provides as our child never started. However as a first time parent new to the child care industry, I felt compelled to share how anxious and stressful this experience was for our family due to lack of communication and professionalism which I hope helps new parents when they are evaluating care options for your children.  We are actually relieved that we were able to find an alternative option and consider it a blessing that he did not end up being enrolled in the end.  Happy to provide additional information to anyone who has any questions at all on the events or dates cited.
