Hilton Butler has trained both of our dachshunds when they were puppies. For our new puppy we drove all the way from Fort Worth because we trust them to help us. We had a horrible experience with Hilton Butler dog training and I am still just sick over it. Our family was finally ready for a dog. We'd had two precious Shelties who had passed on & our kids were young at the time. My husband didn't want to get a dog, but wanted the kids and I to be happy, so we finally convinced him. Being that my daughter has asthma & allergies, we decided to get a labradoodle. She was precious, we brought her home at 8 weeks. The first two weeks were harder than we had ever expected or remembered! She was jumping and nipping on the kids, which is totally a puppy thing, but I was constantly having to rescue my 5 year old. Potty training was not going well. She ate mulch and ended up with colitis. Then she got an ear infection. We were in a puppy nightmare! My husband was ready to give the dog away. My daughter was devastated. After a weekend of ups and downs, we decided we would pay A LOT OF MONEY for Hilton Butler, this month long program. We were sure this would help us get to the point where our puppy wasn't perfect (we didn't expect a miracle!), but had a few basics down that we could work on from there. She cried all night long in her crate. She chewed everything. It was either get her trained, and miss out on a month of sweet puppy growth, or lose her forever b/c puppy life was causing a lot of stress in our family. It was not what I ever envisioned! We were not a happier family with the addition! Christine talked to me at length when I called to inquire about the training. She made me feel like I didn't need to worry about it, that when we dropped Winnie off they would "fix" everything we were struggling with. She put me at ease that this would be a game changer. And at $2000, it should have been. I was so hopeful that we would be able to make it work and that I could make everyone happy. I dropped Winnie off, after a tearful goodbye from the kids, and my CC was charged as I exited the driveway. Communication from then on was awful. I only got 1 picture of her the entire month and that was after my request. Texts were not returned promptly. I got the excuse of a phone being turned off, or sometimes just no response at all. Very poor communication. But, you assume....hey, they are working on a lot of big stuff with these dogs and I'll be patient b/c I want this training to work. We saw her at the 2 week point for a visit and were not impressed. We left feeling like they had a ton of work to do in the two weeks left. However, we were still sure at this point that she would come home with some improvement. Surely all these reviews were true?? So many 5 star reviews online. We couldn't have a dog who came back to us untrained. She came home maybe 5% better than when we dropped her off. She cried again incessantly when crated. She jumped on the kids. She peed and pooped in the house. And this is when I was taking her out every 15 minutes!! Another concerning factor was that she lost 4 lbs while in their care. A puppy should not be losing 4 lbs in a month. We were happy to have her back because we missed her & loved her, but we were still back to where we were when she left. After a short time, my husband was done. He really isn't a jerk, it must sound that way, but he couldn't handle the dog destroying our house. He was in an awful mood and telling me that he didn't want to be this way, but that he just couldn't handle the stress of the dog along with the stress he is already under. And, I was under stress too. I wasn't sleeping b/c she cried all night long and peed in her crate unless I took her out every 2 hours at night. We found a wonderful family for her. But.....We are out $2000 & still don't have a dog. My son asks to visit her every day. It's heart wrenching. I'm still not over it Part of their services include follow up in home training. After a miserable week, we asked that Hilton come that Thursday to help. We were doing everything the manual said but she seemed to have little to no improvement. I think any improvement she showed was merely due to the fact she was a month older. My husband took off work early so he could be home when Hilton came. He was scheduled to come at 4:00. I sent Christine a text early that afternoon confirming that he was coming. No response. Then, about 6 minutes til 4:00, I get a voicemail that he was on his way to our house but had to turn around because he got sick at his stomach. I believe that is a lie. Only they know the truth, but I do not think he really got sick. We really are owed our money back. The only thing they taught her was the word "off". It was successful about 20% of the time and something I could have taught her myself in a month's time. Bottom line is, we were robbed of our money and ultimately our dog. I wouldn't recommend them to to my worst enemy. They just want your money. They'll make great promises, but you'll get poor communication and there's no guarantee your dog will gain any skills. read more

It was around my dog's 4th birthday before I entertained the thought of a trainer- so glad I did. I guess you can teach an old(er) dog new tricks! Hilton's knowledge and experience with training exceeded my expectations. My boy is much more mindful and obedient, and I learned how to help him continue the good work too. The month long boot camp was needed and worth it... I am still amazed every time we get out for a walk that he stays with me off leash or can pass by active sprinklers and without attacking them. A month or so after graduation Hilton came to visit us at my new home for a check-up and to establish boundaries and behaviors for a new backyard. Super positive experience all around! read more

Tucker went to the Butler K-9 Bootcamp at seven months and with very high energy! He came home a very happy puppy still with high energy, but with some good doggie manners as well! I especially appreciated the thorough upfront dialogue about specific behavior issues to be addressed, and the weekly communication of his progress. This family run program on a beautiful property some distance from where I live was worth the cost and the travel. One of the most beneficial aspects of the program are the home visits following training. Transitioning good manners from the training program to the home environment is crucial. My breeder recommended the program to me and I am very glad she did. Based on Tucker's experience, I highly recommend the Hilton Butler K-9. read more

The difference in my dog is astounding. Before I sent Cooper (a puppy Goldendoodle) to Hilton, he would bite, bark, chew the furniture, and was terrified to be alone. On walks he would pull so hard on the leash I thought he would choke! Hilton fixed all those issues. Cooper is an incredibly well-trained dog now, and no longer does any of the aforementioned challenges. Hilton fixed his bathroom cycle, his sleep cycle, and Cooper is just so well behaved. NOTE! Your dog comes back to you as happy and loving as before. I was afraid I was going to get a robot back, but no, it's my same Cooper, full of love and joy, just without the biting. :) I cannot recommend this school enough. It's a higher price, but your dog is gone for 3 and half weeks, and it's no different than the cost of boarding and training your dog at a facility. When I get my second dog, he'll be going straight to Hilton for training. In addition, Hilton and Christine REALLY took care of his health. As a growing puppy, they made sure that: A) Since he can't hold his bladder for 8 hours, that he was let out in the middle of the night to urinate. B) They carefully monitored his weight to ensure that he was being fed the right amount for a growing puppy. C) That he was giving anti-flea/tick medication during his time there. D) That Cooper made it to his Vet appointments that were scheduled in order to keep him on track with health needs. This man LOVES dogs. He would never allow harm to come to one. Our pit-mix is the "spaz" of our family. After spending 3 weeks with Hilton, he came back home MUCH better than we ever thought he could be. We were explained on what Mercury would expect and what days would be like when we dropped him off and were walked through the 3 weeks of training and how to continue to train at home when we picked him up. Hilton was very honest and saying that training must continue at home. Hilton and his family are very passionate about what they are doing and want the very best for you and your animal(s) when you are back at home. We had our first follow up and were able to work through some leash walking issues in a matter of minutes. Having not raised a dog or puppy before we didn't know what we didn't know and the list kept growing longer. We knew an emersion training experience would best serve our puppy and our schedule. One thing I would change is having her at Hiltons as soon as she was cleared to be around other critters at 4 months. Other than that we could not be more pleased with her transformation that was brought about due to Hilton's care, experience and training. We had tried far too many youtube or online training ideas/processes that were ineffective and now knowing what we do today, laughable.Also group trainings help on a couple of things but was not nearly enough. Today she waits at doors, comes when called, goes into her crate to sleep, and now I recognize at times when she is waiting on instruction. So different than how it was before. All smiles now:) While the training is effective and at times amazing the onus is on us the parents to keep it going at home with them and the after visits are a tremendous support to that end! We could not be happier with Hilton's results and follow-up. Do yourself and your pooch a favor and consider the investment, we certainly found it to be a solid one. . read more

When we adopted Charlie, he was a hard-headed mess. He'd been running the streets for a while and thought he was the boss of everything. It was to the point where we were ready to send him back to the shelter' we hated to do that because, underneath it all, we could sense he was a good dog. Instead, we sent him to Hilton Butler's K-9 Bootcamp for a month. At bootcamp, he was challenged, praised, corrected. He learned doggie manners and now, while not perfect, he's a great companion. My daughter and I adopted 2 puppies and then realized we were in for trouble. After a week we called Hilton and Christine. They were FANTASTIC!!! Being new fur baby parents we were very nervous about being without them for a month but Christine put our mind at ease with the progress reports and we knew the boys were enjoying it with the great pics we got. Now that the boys are home they have not chewed any furniture, shoes, or us. And potty training is going so much smoother. Where do I start telling about the a great experience we had with Hilton Butler and family,plus how impressed we are after getting our GSD trained by the best. Our GSD pup, had a few issues like biting (playfully), but with needle sharp teeth our arms were shredded and full of cuts. Counter surfing and jumping out of excitement were the other two issues. We tried an in home trainer, but with 2 other dogs in our family, training was going nowhere. We needed a serious experienced professional to help. I knew we found our trainer, once I read Hilton's background experience training bomb sniffing dogs for the military. Everything was corrected, but the communication with the pup is of most importance. We were trained how to talk/command/correct our pup, which is 60% of the problem with dog training (the owners). Christine was communicating the progress and sending photos. We met few of the girls and this is not only a family business, it is their love and passion to do. This is the environment I wanted to leave my dog in. For a month, we waited impatiently, not knowing how our dog would receive us and how she would behave after coming back home. She graduated from Basic Puppy Training and settle home like any kid coming back from college. She is wonderful and can't say enough, MONEY WELL SPENT!!! Needless to say, we are doing in a few months the Obedience and Advanced training courses too. Do yourself a favor, search no more for a dog trainer, I already did the homework for you. We couldn't be happier with Hilton Butler and his K-9 boot camp. Our Black Russian Terrier puppy attended the puppy campout program and after one month Hilton had her completely transformed. She went from behaving as most puppies do (nipping, jumping up on people, pulling on the leash, etc.) to being extremely well-trained in all of the areas the program focuses on including puppy manners, undesirable chewing, housebreaking, and crate training. Hilton thoroughly explained every aspect of her training when we picked her up. He also gave us a comprehensive manual to take home for reference, although he made sure to let us know that we could contact him at any time with questions. It has been 6 months since her training and our puppy still knows what she can and cannot chew on (she can distinguish between her toys and the childrens' toys, shoes, etc.), happily goes into her crate as soon as she's asked and doesn't make a sound while she is in there, and has zero accidents in the house. She had a couple of accidents when we first brought her home but that was only when we did not adhere to the potty schedule that Hilton suggested. We also appreciate how Christine and Hilton kept us updated on how our puppy was progressing each week of the program. Another great aspect of their program is that you are allotted 3 additional follow-up visits from Hilton in case you think of any additional areas in which you would like your pet to receive training. In the first few weeks after we brought our puppy home, we found that it was important for us to be very consistent with following Hilton's instructions (feeding schedule, potty schedule, leash commands, corrections for puppy manners, all clearly outlined in the reference manual) in order for our puppy to retain the training she experienced. Now that these instructions have become habit for all of us, we have zero issues with our dog. She is truly the best behaved animal we have ever had in our 20+ years of owning pets. Hilton Butler's puppy campout program is thorough, effective, and produced excellent results for our family. Hilton and Christine are always available to answer any of our questions when they arise. Additionally, Hilton and Christine are wonderful, compassionate individuals who will treat your pet as a part of their own family. Hilton Butler is a professional and has trained Roarie my German shepherd puppy a ton! I really look forward to working with him more after her veterinarian stuff. Roarie is my service dog and an amazing puppy! Hilton has helped out in so many ways and really knows what he's talking about! He is also a veteran of both military and law enforcement. Our Airedale Terrier, Amos, celebrated his first birthday with Hilton Butler and his family. In fact, they had him for well over a month teaching our highly exciteable boy, to walk beside my son's big power wheelchair. Since we travel about 1/3 of the year it is important that Amos knows how to behave in all circumstances. He is now a wonderful Service Dog for my 32 year old son who is a non walking, non talking Public Speaker. It is so comforting to know that Amos can be Sean's voice if he needs to be. I am extremely disappointed in this business and would NOT recommend Hilton Butler for dog training to ANYONE. Our rescue group sent 2 different dogs to Hilton for training and both are now dead. The first one got sick while in his care, and was rushed to the vet where he died. The second one went through an extended training (over 2 months) with Hilton and her issues were not fixed. In fact, when she came back from him she was very skinny and looked very unhealthy. After only having her back for 2 short weeks, she began to gain weight and her hair loss improved. This shows me that she was NOT taken care of properly while she was in his care. Did she even get food everyday? When he brought the dog to us after training, she was not responding to any of the commands that Hilton promised she knew. Although Hilton promised as much follow up as needed after the dog "graduated", when I messaged him about needing additional help with the dog because she was beginning to show aggression to humans, I received NO response or any offer of a follow up. The dog was later euthanized due to her aggression she began showing to humans. I think it is important that I share my experiences I've had with these dogs that went to him for training and help, because he didn't provide much of that for either. There are so many dog trainers out there and I would encourage potential customers to look elsewhere if they are looking for successful training methods and proper daily care for their pets. read more

We started working with Hilton in 2015 after rescuing a young puppy dumped in our neighborhood golf course. We already had 2 dogs and were not prepared for what this sweet puppy grew up to become (90 pound pit/weimareiner mix). He was showing what we assumed was aggression only to learn he was demonstrating anxiety and fear. Hilton worked with Oakley for an extended period of time on basic obedience. Near graduation time Hilton indicated he thought it would be a good idea to bring the other 2 dogs to see how they all related (the pack). Within just a few minutes of the others arrival, it was apparent Oakley's anxiety and fear creeped in. He wasn't sure where he fit in the pack. Hilton asked for the other 2 to stay until he could get the three of them all ok with each other. It actually worked perfectly for us because we had a planned vacation and were going to board the dogs anyway. When we got back Hilton spent time with us discussing the pack mentality and how their pack was set up. He also reviewed the basic obedience commands and sent us home with a binder and dvd which I reference often. Our family made sure to continue to reinforce the training at home. Oakley and the other two had been great for 3 years. We moved recently and Oakley appeared to be digressing-becoming much more fearful therefore demonstrating defensive behavior. My immediate call was to Hilton who made a site visit (no additional charge) within a few days of my call. We made some adjustments and learned new techniques (including using an e collar). After we worked with Oakley at home for a week or two, Oakley made an overnight visit with Hilton for some final tweaking. Hilton's understanding of the dog and ability to communicate to clients in a way that makes sense has been invaluable. We can not thank both Hilton and Christine for their service. They are my go to whenever I have concerns about our dogs behavior. This training is a worthwhile investment. read more
