Those should be replaced /removed regulary and not be left after they are no longer fresh. Prices for Parking and the Spa Area are also a bit on the expensive side given the location of the hotel.

Even walking around the main floor it's kind of hard to navigate because there are a bunch of pillars/walls that make it hard to see across the room, but it kind of adds to the charm. The staff was really great at check-in. We got there early and our room wasn't quite ready, but that wasn't an issue, we were able to park the car and leave our luggage until later. The room itself was pretty nice. Two spacious rooms really, the bedroom and a living room. It's a shame they didn't take a little of the space from those rooms and make the bathrooms a bit larger...it was definitely tight, but not unusable. Unfortunately we were on the second floor and had a view of a couple of neighboring roofs, but as long as you're not looking out the windows there's enough inside to keep your interest. We didn't get to try any of the other amenities that were offered but overall we really enjoyed our time here. The parking garage was a bit spendy at 19 Euros per day, but I've seen worse. I don't know if I'd stay here again, but at least for a one-time experience I'd say we had a great time.

A healthy ten minute walk to the main square and cathedral. There are about a dozen rooms/suites per floor. Our first impression was that the room layout and furnishings are a bit off and odd. The room is in a shape of a half circle. Remember, the hotel tower is completely round. The room-suite included a separate sitting room with a small desk, sofa, chairs, and flat-screen TV. The bathroom is large enough without feeling cramped. The toilet is in a separate space with its own wash basin. There is also a bidet near the shower. A little unfamiliar for North American tourist. A towel warmer in the bathroom is useful during the cold winter months. In the evening, housekeeping comes by to check if there is anything you need before you retire for the night. The most comfortable feature about the suite is the sleeping area. There is a large king bed with comfy mattress pad and warm individual comforters. Perfect for the cold December winter weather. Plenty of closet space and drawers. The gym is small with free weights, treadmill, and elliptical step trainer. A bonus in the 24 hour gym- The complimentary bottled water and assorted drinks in the cooler. For 20 Euros per person, we enjoyed the buffet breakfast one morning in their nicely decorated dining room. The cold cuts, salmon, pastries, cheeses, and hot egg dish were all yummy- but a bit pricey. The service personnel is efficient, but is a bit distant (German-style). No complaints here though. The staff is professional. The day of our departure, we accidentally left one of our cell phones in the room. I phoned the hotel from the central train station. Michael at the front desk searched and found our phone in our room. He even offered to send someone to the train station to reunited us with our phone loaded with important info and contacts. Conveniently located around the corner from Cologne Cathedral and the central train station, it's great if you plan to do some day-tripping, or if you need to catch a train or flight out the next day. The only downside for me was some of the other guests that stayed. The street noise quiets down at night, but they don't have age restrictions for guests. There was a large group of bratty elementary school kids staying in the dorms on our floor. They were LOUD and you would hear them through the walls, horsing around the entire time.

As such, our reservation was a big one and we used many of the resources and facilities available at the hostel. As far as the hostel is concerned, I have nothing to which to compare. Before this trip, I never stayed in a hostel before. For privacy reason, I opted to pay the extra money to get a 2-person room with a bathroom. That made my stay at the hostel more comfortable than many of the people I was with. The bed was comfortable, the room was comfortable and nicely decorated (although sparse), and it was nice to have my own bathroom and shower. The shower stall, however, was really tiny and hard to maneuver in. Plus, it only had a shower curtain and no bathmat, so the floor was constantly soaked with water. I ended up having to sacrifice one, and then eventually both, of my tiny thin towels as bathmats. It seems odd to me that they wouldn't invest in bathmats considering renovating the floors and walls must be more expensive than buying some new bathmats every now and again. Each guest only got one towel and because I was in a double room, I got two. My understanding is that hostels don't normally have towels, so I guess this was an extra at this place. However, I wish I had brought my own towels as these ones were so small and fairly useless. Besides the shower and towels, another disappointment at the Station Hostel was the wifi. I stayed 9 nights. I think I got internet in my room 3 or 4 of those nights! You can see the routers when you turn on your wifi, but you can't connect to them. The staff said this was because too many people were using the wifi, which I can understand, but if you're a facility like this, why don't you have wifi that can handle more traffic? Even in the lobby and bar the wifi was terrible. If you did get on, chances are it was extremely slow and kicked you off every now and again when it got overloaded. It was not dependable, so if you're traveling​ for any reason that requires an internet connection, do not stay here. While I personally did not experience this, a colleague staying at the hostel on this trip got bit by bedbugs on multiple nights, even after changing her mattress twice! Other minor things: the hallways were always smelly; the elevator was slow and tiny (but at least they had one); the windows were great and new (and had no screens); and the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. The hostel has a restaurant/bar on the main floor. They serve a continental breakfast there every morning, which is an extra charge of about 7 euros. It's not worth the cost, go down the street to a bakery. The options for breakfast are limited and the coffee is awful. However, the dinners are absolutely amazing! I ate there at least 3 times and loved everything I ordered. Whoever their chef is, s/he is amazing. Beer is cheap, while soda is expensive. The tables all seem to be made of wooden pallets, which is neat. Some of the chairs and benches are also made of pallets, which would be neat if they weren't so uncomfortable. The bar stools, on the other hand, are super comfy. In the warmer weather, ​they have a patio area in the back, which looks nice even though it wasn't really usable during my visit. I did discover that, unlike Canada, a LOT of people smoke in Germany, and many of them smoke right in front of doors and windows. The backyard area might have been nice to hang out in in the colder weather except for the fact that the smokers all went back there. While probably not unusual for a hostel, I wasn't prepared for the amount of partying and drunkenness that occurred! Almost every night, people were loud till the wee hours of the morning with absolutely no regard for anyone else. I'm assuming there are no noise bylaws in Cologne. All in all, I would eat at the hostel again, but I would not stay there again. Maybe I'm stuck in my ways, or maybe I'm just stuck up, but the discomforts far outweighed the comforts and cost savings. I would rather spend a little more to stay in a nice hotel. You do get what you pay for at Station Hostel, as I imagine is the case for most hostels.

After a long travel day we were excited to get into our room and freshen up, but were met with a huge line when we got into the lobby. The Marriott Elite check in was unattended and the normal check in had 2 people working and 4 people in line. My travel companion and I waited approximately 20 minutes to be seen. When we got to the desk we were told our room wasn't ready. We asked how that was possible given the text we got at 2:38 and the staff member wasn't sure. We were told to wait because she wasn't sure when the room would be ready. I was pretty upset as the hotel check in time was 3pm and 1 hr 30 min after we were told they didn't know when we'd get our room. We watched person after person get their room and get to go upstairs but we were told they didn't know when we'd get ours. We waited an additional 25 minutes and went back to the desk and a new person gave us a room quickly. He added in breakfast and dinner, but unfortunately we couldn't use this service. I work for a company whose HQ is walking distance from the Kameha so it was recommended to me by a…read morecolleague that I book a room at this place, so I did. I've now stayed twice at the Kameha Grand hotel and if I have the choice, it will be the only hotel in Bonn that I will ever stay at - it's that good. This place has style ... and tons of it. The decor is... intense. As in lots of red. Red red red. You've never seen so much red in your life. I promise. And yet, it's not overwhelming like you might think (see my pictures.) I've stayed in some of the top 5 star hotels in the world and this place is competitive. The rooms as absolutely awesome. The layout affords privacy and quiet (I never heard a sound from a neighbor) while providing comfort. The only negative I had was only 1 English language channel was working (about half of the channels did not appear) on the television. Fortunately, they have superior internet speed so I just watched stuff on my tablet. The room service menu has great food options. The food is somewhat pricey but absolutely excellent quality. I got the 35 euro breakfast and frankly, it's hard to imagine anyone eating everything. Definitely enough for two people. I ate a number of dinners there and found the food to be excellent but the menu is limited and if I was going to stay there for more than about 4 days I would probably get super bored of it. Hopefully, they change it seasonally. I'll find out next year when I return. They have a private cigar room and I was even able to order dinner there. Very nice. According to my colleagues, they have a fabulous spa and infinity pool but I was working too many hours to take the time to go. Also something I look forward to on my next visit. I did however walk around the hotel a lot. It's situated along the Rhine river and there's a fabulous walkway that adjoins the river next to the hotel. I took a number of walks on it and it is really beautiful. Some of the nearby buildings are to be appreciated architecturally as well. You can get to the hotel by train but you will have a bit of a walk (half of it on a muddy cobblestone road and in the dark by night) so if you're not comfortable with that, call a taxi. Otherwise the walk is about 5 minutes and very straightforward. You'll have to see the pictures I'm posting to get a full sense of this place. It's something else and definitely recommended if you have to stay in Bonn.

It's a very modern hotel with huge open plan and a bit too open for my liking. Everything is in deep colours and a lot of red and black, a bit too much in fact. They have a totally open plan checkin area and a lobby bar. For a 5 star hotel this place is ok. This is definitely not my kind of hotel. It's too open plan for my liking. The rooms are nice but a bit too colourful and not easy on the eyes. The bathroom is totally open and again something I don't like. Service here is good but none of the staff actually smile. Perhaps they have forgotten how to ? They are helpful and professional however just did not feel the warmth. The best person was the bartender who was very nice and made some decent cocktails. Breakfast is quite ok and the selection is good. Room service was also quite ok and I enjoyed my burger. All in all this place did not wow me in any way.

Check in is effective and we are upgraded to a beautiful suite with Parkview! Reservations for dinner are made and time for us to hit the town! Dinner in a lovely ambience and the waiters are hardly noticed, only when needed they are there in a jiffy. Vegetarian food is lovely and folks: go for the chef's signature dessert, it's killing! Nice local wines. The surroundings of the hotel are great for a stroll or a decent walk. And so nice and quiet for a good night sleep. In Bonn the Beethoven week kept us busy with concerts and visiting the museum. There a lots of markets, and stores (non retail chain) very worth your visit. The wellness environment in the hotel is outstanding, you practically have the place to yourself. Rooms are very nice kept (hooray for house keeping) and provided with all the necessities. It doensn't get any better, people!

It is comfortable, and the rooms are fairly good - better than the Maritim and other large hotels in the area. onsite sauna/spa and lots of convention rooms. However, it felt really empty (a la "The Shining"), which is probably an indicator that they have their pricing and marketing wrong. Whilst the rooms rates were very reasonable, the restaurant was overpriced - the food was fairly good, aimed at fine dining style, however the menu choice was limited - heavy or heavy food - not much inspiration, and execution was a little off in places (e.g. over salting, over cooking, presentation) which you expect to be far better for the price. Breakfast was not worth 26 euros. If you don't travel there by car, then you will find it difficult to get anywhere local without taxis. Great views at night though, looking down over the river and Bonn skyline. It feels like this hotel is still living off of it's acclaimed history, rather than putting in the effort right now to make the stay as good as it should be. Go if you are travelling by car for either business or pleasure, though factor in the extra costs of the restaurant and bar etc. Don't go if you want to be close to the local attractions/people/etc, or if you are on a budget.
