The unit we rented through Hilton Head was terribly dated, as some of the reviews stated. Biggest issue was the master bedroom TV not working. Unfortunately Hilton Head Rentals had no way to do anything about it. More unfortunately, there was no communication from them on anything!! I left voice mails, emails with no response. Upon leaving the unit, I was told I would be compensated for the issues. Again, we have heard nothing from this company. I am trying to get the corporate offices of VTrips involved, but they are just pushing it off to Hilton Head Rentals. Very disappointed with this company!! read more

First time renting through this company and not a good experience, especially in comparison to places we've used on previous trips. First of all, the key pick up location is extremely inconvenient and out of the way, and on the side of the main highway....so good luck pulling out safely and not waiting half the afternoon. The gate and building door require a fob, but you only get one fob per unit. So if you have multiple people who may be doing different things during the day...good luck getting back in. When we got into the unit it was dirty, crap all over the carpets (not vacuumed) and dusty. Clearly nobody had been in the unit for a while as the water came out with air bubbles and rusty in two of the three sinks. Morning #1: just wanted a cup of coffee. Opened the coffee maker top to find moldy grounds from the last visitors- great job cleaning team! They brought us a new coffee pot later in the day fortunately, but they failed to let us know they were entering our unit after they said they would be calling first. Overall not impressed, will be going back to the previous rental groups we've used in the past. read more

Extremely disappointed with this rental company... We are currently staying at 1 Yardarm in Palmetto Dunes. We arrived, after our told check-in time, to a house filled with fish smell, to find a sink full of pots and pans covered in food and the dishwasher full of dirty dishes that smelled like they had been in there for weeks! The floor had about 10 large, dead bugs and the kitchen was covered in sand. I know we're by the beach but a quick vacuum would clean that up. The cherry on top was the bathrooms. They had not been cleaned and smelled of urine. We checked in late so by the time we realized all of the issues, the office had closed. I'm usually not one to complain or write negative reviews, so I patiently waited until the next morning to politely contact the office with our concerns. I spoke to a very nice gentleman, Christian, who I do not think was based out of Hilton Head because he said he would contact the Hilton Head office. After placing me on a brief hold, Christian said housekeeping would be on their way soon. Eight hours later... still no housekeeping and I've called back twice. I have excitedly waited 9 months for this vacation. I have saved up for the past year so I could have a nice vacation at the beach, and I even had to wait until after Labor Day because that's when I could afford this house. So you can imagine my dissapointment when they don't even respect their customers enough to actually come through. There are plenty of vacation rental companies here, and in two years, I will go with a different one. read more

For ten years, my family had been enjoying vacations on Hilton Head Island, but Hilton Head Rentals & Golf managed to change that. It started when they forgot to mail our passes and instructions on time, but we figured it only takes a moment to stop at the rental office on the way in and anyways, mistakes happen. I wish I'd known it was a sign of things to come. When we arrived at the rental villa we'd booked through them, we were shocked at its condition. Filthy doesn't begin to describe it. Between thick layers of dust, mold in the bathrooms and on the living room walls and feces on the back porch, we were horrified. We called Hilton Head Rentals & Golf to work out a solution and waited outdoors in the sweltering heat for someone to respond to their answering service's page. They called back within 10 minutes, but were unconvinced the issues were more than a minor inconvenience that could be solved with a visit from their cleaning service. After several minutes and emailing them pictures, they finally agreed that the mold growths were a health issue and they would need to locate alternate lodging for us. Finally after an hour of back and forth, we were asked to come back to the office to get keys for a different property. Upon arriving at the office, we were also informed they intended to charge us more since the new rental was an upgrade. Being 900 miles from home with my kids, I had little choice but to agree to check out the new villa and told them I'd call as soon as I arrived there to let them know if it would work. You can't imagine my surprise when 10 minutes later, I arrive at our "upgrade" to find we went from 3 bedrooms plus a pull-out to 1 bedroom. Unwilling to have my kids sleeping on the floor, I called the office to see if maybe something had gotten confused. Despite less than 10 minutes having passed since leaving the office, no one answered any of the numbers they'd given me or a page from their answering service. After trying for a half hour, and getting no response, I was frantic - it was now after 6pm and all of the rental agencies on the island would be closed. It finally sunk in that my kids and I were stranded 12 hours from home. Luckily with the help of a friend and an amazing couple on AirBNB we were finally able to get into another property at almost 9pm. I'm now out several thousand dollars extra and won't be able to do the activities with my kids that we always enjoy. Talking with Hilton Head Rentals & Golf on Monday about a refund was ridiculous. They screwed up the refund multiple times and finally ended up cutting us a check - with only 3 days left in the vacation. I understand that property management companies have to trust their cleaning and maintenance companies to take care of their properties appropriately and tell them when a villa needs additional work, so normally I wouldn't fault them for the initial issue, but looking at the reviews online, it seems like this is common place for this company. The customer service nightmare we went through was utterly horrifying. At no point did they seem to have any interest in making it right and did the absolute bare minimum possible. read more

The staff at Hilton Head Rentals and Golf was very helpful with selecting the right vacation home for our first trip to Hilton Head Island. They have a golf coordinator that recommended courses for our skill level and put together a great package. He even called and scheduled our tee times. The staff provided us with the best restaurants to go to and suggested we rent bikes and ride through Sea Pines Plantation. It was a blast! read more

I recently rented a 6 bedroom home, 11 Singleton Beach, that is managed by HHR&G for an anniversary celebration. The home was filthy with the refrigerator not working, carpet pulled up, holes in the wall, broken front door lock and the decking near the pool damaged. Also a grill that was greasy and spilled over onto the pool deck. The cost for the rental, without taxes and fees, was close to $10,000. The pictures shown were nothing of what the property actually looks like. They obviously do not manage their properties well. read more

This is in reference to 1 Swing About. The house is beautiful inside, but has one major problem: roaches, the big flying ones. The management agency itself is a huge mess and I'm surprised they are still in business. Short story: hard to get a hold off / bad communication / not responsive. The long version: I ordered a masseuse for my wife, with 2 kids it's tricky to visit a spa so I figured during their nap time I can have the spa come to the house. To get into the community a guest pass is needed so I stopped by the guest pass office to make sure they let masseuse in, they told me I have to contact the Hilton Head Rentals agency. So I called them and after about 10 minutes on hold, 5 more minutes on the phone and $10 later I thought I was all set. Then the masseuse called right before the time of the appointment and said they're not letting her through. At this point of the story you have to realize that the pass people are one party, the management agency is another party, and of course the house owner, myself and the masseuse are other parties altogether. I tried to call the agency again, only to be placed on hold and then after getting through I told them that I have someone trying to get in right now. Apparently they didn't realize they have to call / send an email to the pass people, so they said they'll do that. Long story short, I ended up driving to pick up the masseuse, carry her table / etc and then dropping her off - no luck with the pass. No biggie right, just minor annoyance. I called the Hilton Head Rentals again to let them know the pass never came through and that they should refund the $10, the woman said she doesn't know anything about it, and forwarded me to someone's voicemail. I left a voicemail and called back the next day to check. At that point I was forwarded to the manager(Shannon?) who right away said that they offer no refunds. After I explained the whole story to her, she said she'll look into it. She called me back and left a voicemail saying that the pass is there and that I can pick it up. Obviously not one person that I spoke to at that agency actually had any clue on what's going on. Or they did and are intentionally "playing it dumb", both is just bad business. read more

We rented Hilton Head Beach & Tennis B227 from this company. STAY AWAY!! The unit was not clean when we checked in. Were told that the cleaning team would be there and that we could have the property at 4. At 4 property still was not ready and the cleaning team just arrived on site to start cleaning, we thought. Once in the Unit it was obvious that it was not clean. Bathroom was a disaster and could clearly see the shower curtain was very old and well used so I replaced it with one I purchased and happen to still have in my car. There was caked on urine and pubic hair along the floor by the toilet. After walking in the unit with bare feet for 5 minutes the bottoms of my feet were black with dirt. To top it off the unit had mold in several places and a heavy smell of mold from the AC system. Ultimately we slept in the car that first night due to the mold smell and one in our party being allergic to mold and promptly checked out and returned the keys the office the next morning. So far no contact back from the local office on my comments to them or the main corporate office. read more

Terrible customer service! We rented a home in Hilton Head on Guscio Way in September 2017. The most efficient thing this company did was take our money. They were snippy to us when we requested to get into the property early. We had to be persistent as we knew that the property was clean and no one was in it as we had arrived on the island the day before and were staying one night in a hotel. Prior to our arrival, we sent emails and made phone calls to inquire about amenities that we should bring. We asked if they had hair dryers, irons, coffee grinder and soap. They told us that there were no hair dryers, and in fact there were about 7 hair dryers, plus the 4 we had to pack. They told us there was just a starter supply of soap, and in fact there was soap, shampoo, conditioner, gel and lotion in 7 of the 8 bathrooms, plus all of the soap we brought. They told us there was not an iron or ironing board (we were taking professional family photos on the beach), so we brought an iron and ironing board--there were a couple of these at the home! There was also a coffee grinder. We had difficulties with the elevator when we arrived so we called the number to ask questions. A bit later, my brother called to inquire about the hot tub temperature and was scolded for calling the number--it wasn't an emergency. She then snapped at him and said we have to pay extra for the hot tub to be heated. In addition, the refrigerator was not working. We tolerated it for a day and then contacted the number they provided. They sent a repair man to us who was rude and accusatory. Implying that the frig malfunction was our fault. He also was complaining that he had his children in his truck and that the kids hadn't been fed dinner yet. After about one hour, he told us the refrigerator was broken (and implied that it was not our fault-no apology). He said he would do a temporary fix and tell the company to deliver a new frig in the morning. They didn't deliver the new frig until that evening! There was never any follow up. We never heard from them. We never were asked to write a review....(of course). I would never rent another property from them again--The other company involved with them is HILTON HEAD RENTALS AND GOLF. When you go to book with that company, it takes you to Vacation Rental Pros. The worst. They do not return calls and are the most unprofessional rental company I've ever dealt with. I emailed pictures of the severe maintenance problems this home has and a few days later got a form letter response. They do not care about their customers once you've paid them. This is a horrible company. My mother rented a 5 BR oceanfront home listed under "luxury properties" 7 South Beach Lagoon. We arrived Saturday. There were many maintenance issues but the final straw was when we discovered a rat infestation. When we saw the rat droppings on and around a bedroom sofa we immediately called HHR&G (around 3:30 pm) and were transferred from person to person, told to call different numbers, etc. When we finally reached someone in the HHI office and asked them to get the sofa out of the house they refused. We said they could put it in the garage, they refused. I asked them to send someone out to clean up the droppings and she hung up on me! They were unapologetic, rude, and the most unprofessional people. When the pest control person came out the next day, he confirmed rats were living in the sofa bed in the bedroom my kids were sleeping in. The rental company did nothing other than send an exterminator out the next day. I spent an afternoon of my vacation driving to find a place to buy 2 air mattresses so my kids could sleep in my bedroom - thus making our 5 BR house a 4 BR house, and the last 2 nights of our vacation were sleepless due to the 10 of us being extremely disgusted and worried about the health hazard of sleeping in a rat infested house. In addition to the rats, this "luxury" rental had moldy vents in some of the bathrooms, stained carpets, the stove was not functioning and 2 days later when the propane person came to check on it he said it had not been serviced in 14 months and was out of propane and the valve was rusted shut, sheets were poor quality and many had what appeared to be ink stains on them, the SubZero had ice buildup and condensation inside the fridge and was not cooling properly, the ice machine in the bar had a "cleaning needed" light on. All of these things were bothersome but the rats are totally unacceptable! read more

The house and pool were in good order when we arrived and our special request to make sure the grill was in working order was completed. The only recommendation would be to somehow make the 3 sliding patio doors easier to use, not sure how because of the humidity. I have left numerous voice mails and emails for almost 2 months. No calls no email returns. At first, i wanted an upgrade to a beach front home. No one contacted me. I then contacted them about a question about my contract. No one contacted me. The house has a pool. I've sent emails and calls asking if there are pool toys for our family. No one has contacted me. We have rented in Hilton Head for several years and have enjoyed our stays each time. The only negative I have from last year is that all the rental info we had and received on our unit stated that we would have a propane grill for us to use; however, when we arrived to the villa there was not a grill or even a grilling area. That was a bit disappointing because although we are on vacation we enjoy cooking meals to save on expense, and using a grill to do so what we were looking forward to. The room we were in was nice, clean and the pool area also was nice and clean. We were pleased with our stay, but again the grill not being available was a big disappointment. read more

Currently staying in a unit managed by this company and in all the years I have been coming to Hilton Head I have never seen a place so unkept as the one we are in. Upon arrival to the unit we found drawer face had been ripped off the silverware drawer and was lying on the floor. There was a piece of the inside of the refrigerator broken and laying on top off the fridge. The shower tile has mold growing on it and the front door catch is very loose and not secure. The carpet has stains all over it and in general the upkeep has been put off for some time. They do not allow early check in because the housekeeping service is busy prepping the unit. Well, someone is not doing their job, if they allowed the unit to be in this unit. In our attempt to let the management coimpany know of our concerns we were simply told, "we are sorry." No offer to fix anything or come look at it, a simple I am sorry. The problem with renting from this company is that you pay in full upfront. I do not make a practice of this but this company was recommended from a friend so I trusted the process. Now I have no leverage against them since I have paid for the week. If I was an owner using this company I would be very concerned about what I was paying for and receiving. Highly disappointed that there are some people in Hilton Head who feel they can charge a fortune for an unkept condo and bad management just because it is Hilton Head. That will seriously hurt the reputation this wonderful island has worked to obtain. I would encourage you to rent with a plantation rental office or the owner directly and not a company like this one. read more

First when I went to pick up the packet as soon as I walked in the building it smelt like musk and mold. My friend had me pick up the welcome packet for her cause she was stuck in traffic. The ladies in the building were nice but the girl who was telling me the codes for access to everything smelt horrible I just wanted my packet and then get from by her cause it was horrendous. You would think that they required their workers to be professionals and at least not have a body odor being that they deal with customers all day. Then the codes did not work when we got to the unit we had to go back and it took 2 hours all together for the codes. We did finally get in the home and it was pretty and well put together. Tried using amenities got turned around went back to the office the next day and the lady up front was smelling horrible again. Overall it was okay but the people that are over the company should make sure that their workers follow dress code which includes good hygiene. We just got back home we were there about two weeks ago. If you go in the office please be prepared for the smell. read more

We have rented the same unit for 3 years and have enjoyed staying there. This year was a disaster. Upon arrival, we noticed what we thought was mouse crap in the living area. A guy came by the next morning and told my wife he thought it was lizard crap and set some traps. During our week stay, we noticed several dead and live roaches in various places...kitchen, bathroom. The last night, my 17 month old granddaughter got a splinter in her foot from the boards on the balcony that could've used some sanding down. The morning of departure, my son in law raised the couch to see if any of his daughters toys had gotten underneath and discovered several dead cockroaches. Additionally, the ice maker did not work and there was no grill as advertised. I have sent a letter to the President of the parent company and received no response. I have filed a complaint with the BBB that was sent to HR&G on 9/7. No response. These people don't give a crap about their customers. read more
