Unfortunately, like most of the joints on the strip they don't serve food between 2 and 6. Salad bar trips and self serve ice cream are included with dinner. Today we ordered local oysters and tuna steak. This place is packed and barely cooked food took forever to come out. Good thing the bottom of the pea and ham soup vat held me over. I added a piece of roasted acorn squash that helped cut the salt a bit. The local tuna had great flavor and a nicely seasoned crust, but it was way overcooked. How does a tuna town over cook tuna during Tunarama?? Oh, well. The serving was extremely generous and the Greek salad it was over was tasty. Since I've let my food settle, I'm heading to the soft serve machine!

Unfortunately to say, this last visit was not a good one. A group of our family was there for lunch (aka dinner) and had their Carvery which has always been good in the past. Today, it was not. Their weren't much of a choice for a smorgasbord and the food was not refilled even though staff workers walked over and took a look. The quality of the food that was there was not too good either. The lamb was fatty and tough as was the silverside. The chicken was OK, but overcooked. The Great Northern Hotel meal that I was used to is gone. Sadly, family & friends that live in Port Lincoln have told me the same thing. The Hotel needs a remodel and the food needs to be reviewed and redone. The hotel looks exactly as it did the first time I stepped foot in it, many, many years ago.

If you are staying at the Port Lincoln YHA, get a stamp from the reception before you go here and you get a discount on the full size schnitzel with a free glass of wine, beer or cider.

Beer's cold atmosphere pretty bland, staff need to think about where the money comes from.
