Took my 15 year old dog in for an eye issue, she has never been vaccinated and always indoors. She was in perfect health except for this recent eye issue. They insisted on a rabies vaccine, in just a few days after that she was favoring her front leg and it appears a lymph node has swollen. The next day she couldn't use her back leg, now she can't use either of her back legs and all they can say is " you need to set up an appointment to bring her in " They are cold and don't care about the animals one bit! This was lace us d to be good and caring but since these new vets have came to n it has went to shit. Please!, if you care about your pets then avoid this plan like the plague!!! Always taken great care of all of my pets from four dogs to two cats. The animals are well cared for and I honestly trust them with my babies. My cats love coming here and my dogs are very well loved and cared for while getting their shots and other medical needs. I hope you can give them a chance! I'm not sure why there's so many 1 star reviews; I just don't have that experience any time I go there. Just left today and my two pups who needed to go in today felt more than comfortable and we were in and out in no time. Plus, I can't tell you enough how much more affordable this hospital is compared to the ones I'm used to out in LA or Vegas. I normally do not write reviews but this had to be done. I was originally referred to this vets office by the breeder of our dog, but this is not our regular vet (ours does not do surgery in office). Our dog is 8 months old and has many issues that require consultations and surgeries. The first surgery by them was supposed to be for a third eye lid since it protruded out. A cherry eye surgery was done on our dog which is a different surgery apparently. A few weeks later, an actual cherry eye popped back out. We took her back to Hinkles where they performed a cherry eye surgery. This is 2 surgeries we have paid for. Not even a week later, we noticed our dog was constantly squinting so we took her to her regular vet for a check up. We were told that she had a major ulcer and had a chance of possibly loosing her eye because the stitches were incorrectly placed and rubbed against her eye. We had to take her to the Charlotte Animal Eye Clinic the next day as an emergency visit to remove the stitches and see what we could do about her eye. They came to a decision to do another surgery to fix what Hinkles has done. Hinkles botched her eye surgery causing us to spend so much more money and deal with the trauma from this. The whole experience at Hinkles was not the best. The front staff was not friendly and very passive aggressive. The doctor (old man with grey hair, needs to retire) that performed the procedure kept laughing saying she was just a "lemon dog". They do not have any sympathy for animal owners and can not read the room knowing we are completely upset about the whole situation. We do not recommend Hinkles Animal Hospital and we will never be back. Hopefully this review helps out any other owners so that they may not have the same situation as us. read more

This experience was probably one of the worst I've ever had with a vet. I had only came in to get both my cats up to date with their rabies vaccines and after this experience I remembered why I stopped coming to Hinkle's in the first place. Everything was great, the receptionist was nice, the wait time wasn't long, the vet tech was also very nice, and we had already let the vet tech know about my cat (Sunshine) about her eye (detached retina) and how we were already seeing another vet about it and that it wasn't the main reason we were there and I had hope maybe they would just leave it at that and focus on what I had booked an appointment to have done. When the vet (Fiacco) walked in and already seemed like she was already in a mood. She had asked me about one of my cats (Sunshine) if she had a microchip, I guess she was looking at her records and saw that the last time I was there they didn't put her down for no mircochip (first time I brought her she was a stray then and I had her check for a microchip and flee treatment) to which I replied no but they had checked for one the last time I was here 6 YEARS AGO! She demanded they bring in a scanner cause I guess she didn't believe me when I said they had already checked. She then proceeded to ask me very specific questions and these weren't standard questions you think you'll be asked, it almost felt like she was questioning me and how I took care of my cats, and she tried to have some of the wax out of my cats ear tested because she said it might be infected to which I declined because I felt she was trying to pressure me into doing that and I didn't feel it was necessary and again I was only there for rabies shots to which she replied quite rudely "okay just trying to make your cat comfortable." She also said my cat (Sunshine) had glaucoma and needed to be treated, I had already told the vet tech about how she's seeing another vet about that and it's not glaucoma. I did not appreciate this at all. I don't appreciate how she was insinuating I don't take care of my cats properly, I do what I think of best for them and do not need her input just because I don't follow what she believes is better for them. You are there to provide and help pets who need it, not to make others doubt whether or not they are doing the best for their pets. I had looked up her profile on the Hinkle's website and it's honestly ironic that she's listed as a feline specialist cause she did not give the impression that she even liked cats, she had complained several time about how she always asks them to bring a towel when she has to see cats and examined them and how she was manhandled my cats I can see why they give her such a hard time, my cats are very friendly and they've never given anyone any trouble at the vet, so for one of them to actually growl at her tells me a lot about how this vet is. She was rude the entire time we were there and this is one of the reasons I will not step foot back into Hinkles. The other reason is ever since they were bought out, prices are ridiculously high. $60 examination fee for each pet is ridiculous. Do better. read more

I been taken my dogs to Hinkel's since they was puppy's. Today I took my dog, to get his rabbis , a wash and a shave down his fur. They sedate him because a muzzle didn't work.(He doesn't enjoy other people company but he wouldn't bit no one) I'm very disappointed in his hair cut. For him to be a sedate,you will think his haircut will be better.The hair is very uneven. They even cut his ear and then glue it back up.They told me to watch it because it might bleed even more.He is got marks all over him,that wasn't on him before.The second thing I'm disappointed in is they was charging him for things that they didn't even do to him. The bill was over $320 until another lady told her he didn't get all of that. I paid around $295, but the bill was still of because I know for a fact he didn't get all the shots they have on that paper. I took my dog for his 8:30am appointment at Hinkle's Pet Hospital this morning and I sat there until 9:15am waiting for someone to take him away. He is 12 years old and has spindle cell sarcoma. I needed to have them cut his nails using slight sedation because he broke a nail recently and he doesn't want anyone to touch his paws. He was also supposed to have the broken nail addressed because it is causing pain and discomfort. They finally took my dog in the back and I asked if I would have enough time to go to the post office and they said yes, so I left and they promised to call me when he was ready to go home. When I didn't hear from them for over 2 hours, I finally went back around noon and they hadn't done anything with my dog. He had an appointment for 8:30am and they decided (incorrectly and without my approval) to treat my elderly fasting dog like a drop off and they were going to squeeze him in between patients. When I asked when he would receive treatment, they informed me they might be able to get to him sometime between 1:00 or 2:00pm. They expected my dog with terminal cancer to fast even longer. The reason the appointment was made for 8:30 in the morning was to avoid this scenario. This is no way to treat a regular customer of close to 5 years who has spent thousands of dollars at their business and who has a dog with both terminal cancer and a procedure requiring him to have been fasting since 9:00pm last night. This was the third time within a few months that they did not take care of this dog at his scheduled appointment time. I was and am livid. I told them I was done with them as a vet clinic. Three strikes and you're out! Because this isn't the first time they treated me with little regard, decided my time has no value and my sweet boy is not important to them, I informed them that we would not be back and that I was going to the car to get my dog's leash to take him home. I am absolutely furious. Now I need to try to make an appointment for him to be taken care of by a new vet who is not familiar with him and has no records plus I'll have to go through the stress of worrying about him being lightly sedated all over again. There are no words to express how angry I am. If there was something lower than one star, I would use it; I'm SO DONE with the lack of proper care at this veterinary clinic/hospital. I strongly suggest to anyone thinking about going to Hinkle's Pet Hospital to go elsewhere. You need to take your valued family member, who just happens to be an animal, to a place that cares about pets AND people. Been taking my dogs to Hinkle since 2006. Paul was a gifted miracle to my family. He saved my fur baby more than once. After Mr T passed away and Susan left the office staff is rude and condescending with the exception of Jessica. They appear that their presence is all it takes to do their job. Never a smile or thank you. Latest experience what was an emergency on Monday morning was told to bring in a poop sample and we'll schedule an appointment for Thursday. My poor cat has been the for a week now. Every time I speak to a different vet and tests aren't getting done I asked to be done. They ask as if they don't know what to order vet and I spoke about. I keep being told it was a miscommunication. I feel as though they are just trying to postpone testing and procedures to get more money. I have to Rant over this !!!! So my older dog hasn't been feeling well and he is 14 yrs old ... I called for him to get a wellness check and a rabies update at a local vet, #Hinklesvet ... I was quoted $62.00 for the visit, they proceeded without my authorization as the OWNER OF THE DOG to run tests, xrays, a radiograph and give him meds totaling $428.89 !!! I was then told that if I wanted my dog back my bill HAD to be paid in full !!! No payment plan offered just hold the dog hostage !!! So what could I do?? I paid to bring my boy home !!! So not happy with this place! I wouldn't even call them a veterinarian! This place has went so down hill the staff is heartless all they want is money money money they literally choked my pit dog so bad while taking out her stitches when they brought her into the room after they had taken them out her eyes were literally bulging out of her head and were red and bloodshot not to mention she was growling and wouldn't leave my side after they brought her back to me after they had literally choked her! Then Shane on me for taking my other pit dog there thinking it wasn't going to be serious and what she had going on was what we gathered was mastitis but two weeks later she died at only 5 years old after they refused to believe she had nothing but aggressive cancer and suggested to have her put down she during the two weeks of being treated there withheld fluid and could not be saved because they refused to do blood work and just remove the spot that was infected she was a very healthy dog until they seen her! I wouldn't give them the time out of my day if I seen that we had no where else to take our animals I would rather chance giving my animals any surgery they may need before ever allowing this place to come near my pets! And I know this sounds harsh but I have never in my life felt so helpless watching the life being drain from out healthy pit daughter as I did during the time we dealt with them and now she is gone and I blame them! They wanted to put her down and not even try and do anything not remove the problem or anything ! I say this to anyone that reads this do not trust the staff that helps in the back care for these animals ! They are mean and heartless! And as for the Drs. You would think if you are getting paid the least you could do is try what the paying customers suggest besides throwing your hands up and saying know we are not doing anything she is dying and the best thing to do is put her down! If you have pits do not go to this place! They only want you to have the females fixed and then in our case they just didn't care at all and would not even try to do anything to save our little girl! I don't know how this place gets any stars ! They killed my mom sweet lulu girl she went in for a simple spay surgery and they did something wrong then tried to hide the fact she had died long enough to receive payment then they called my mom and told them she had passed they is a 1 percent mortality rate for this surgery he told my mom he had to go back in to stop the bleeding and they had my mom pay for that surgery at the same time she payed for her puppies shots last time I checked you don't pay for an animals surgery till your picking that animal up! I am very disappointed by this Vet Hospital. They misdiagnosed my dog after Charging me 168.00 and when he became gravely ill within 3 days, wanted 400.00 to see him because it was a weekend. I took him to another Vet who confirmed the issue was not worms as they had stated. He had a liver problem which could have been diagnosed by Hingle with a simple blood test. The Tech's were too busy taking pictures of clients for their contest while the Doctor left my dog and I in the room for right at an hour. I called the Hingles Vet on call to let them know my beloved dog died. After explaining how unprofessional the business was while I was there, he said he would have Dr. Hingle call me. That was Sunday and today is Thursday....Still no call. I wonder if my dog really had to die. I doubt it. read more

These are the best Doctors and caring staff. The staff have been there for the ten years I've been going there. They cleaned my dogs teeth, groomed her, did a walk in surgical procedure and other surgery. They explained things in a kind way that I could understand. My dog was happy to go to the Doctors. Please do not take your Pet to this Vet, my girlfriend had a 9 week old Chihuahua that she bought from a very reputable breeder. After about a day my GF took the little pup to Hinkles following a few vomiting fits and refusing to eat or drink. At first they said it was worms, and gave him some meds for that and sent him home. A few days later the pup was still not eating or drinking and was VERY lethargic so my GF called them back and they said to bring him back so she did and also took the pups records with her, the records stated what vaccines the pup had, had and when the next ones were due. They looked at the records and even made copies...BUT CONTINUED TO ADMISTER THE VACCINES HE HAD ALLREADY HAD WHICH IN TURN OVERDOSED HIM ON MAINLY THE PARVO VACCINE!!! Two days later the puppy died and it was all because the "Vet" refused to look at the F&%$ing records. SO please do NOT take your beloved pet to this office. If you want to know how i know it was a overdose, we had an autopsy performed by the vet that the breeder used for the first round of vaccines. read more

I was a career vet tech in California for 17 years before moving to Forest City a decade ago, and I tried every vet in town. My standards are admittedly very high, and I'm not very forgiving when it comes to my dogs and how they are treated. That said, Hinkle's is the best veterinary facility in the area hands down. They also offer doggie day care which I take advantage of multiple times each month as my dog cannot be left home alone due to severe separation anxiety. They have several doctors on staff, and while I like them all I am particularly fond of Dr. Tessnier. He is fantastic with all of my dogs, and takes all the time necessary to figure out what is going on and then fix it, whatever the problem. That is not to say the other doctors aren't as good, but Dr. Tessnier is just one of those rare vets that really connect with me and my animals. And that's not always easy to do. I would honestly give my highest recommendation to this facility. Dr.Hinkle is great. His support staff is fantastic, from his front office to the techs in the back. They are all top notch. I feel quite fortunate to have found them after not having to worry about vet care most of my life, since I always had my choice of vets I'd worked with to take care of my animals. I can honestly say that even if I were back home, and had a bevvy of vets to choose from, they'd still rank in my top 5. read more
