Hiro Karate is fantastic and competitively one of the best, if not THE best, karate dojos in Vegas. We were attracted to it for our daughter due to Hiro-sensei's Japanese training/life roots, his extensive competition credentials, and his two daughters who also train there and compete at an elite level on a global stage. That was only the tip of the iceberg, as we quickly learned that the dojo shows up at competitions and dominates the region at all levels. It's also inspirational seeing other dojo mates selected to represent the US at international competitions. He and the other senseis have a great way with kids that we really appreciate, as nervous parents wondering if our young daughter would take to it. While it's known to be kumite-leaning (sparring) versus kata (choreograph), both have given our daughter a very strong foundation in karate, she loves practice and competitions, and has made some great friends along the way. Need a place to help your child be active and learn how to defend themselves? This is a great place to start! My son was being bullied so I started bringing him here to learn how to defend himself. It's increased his self esteem, has learn a bit of Japanese, and moves to protect himself from others putting their hands on him. Hiro Karate has given my daughter a great sense of direction and a bit of a positive attitude adjustment, but most of all she loves it. Her attitude has improved and she has learned to be more respectful to her sisters(meaning she now knows she is not allowed to fight them with her fistacuffs! Great experience so far! My youngest son has been coming for a week, and now the older boy wants to learn- Sensei Hiroshi is great with the kids- plus he's trained UFC greats which is pretty cool. Kids can come 4 days a week which is unheard of. Great instructor, great location! read more
