Church Street in Chesham used to be the commercial hub of the town.It contained grocers stores and workshops up until the beginning of the 19th century when these buidings began to be converted to the cottages and yards we see today. They are very quaint and from the pictures I've seen in the estate agents windows, pretty small. There are two good pubs in this area and some pretty allotment gardens.St Mary's Parish church dates back to the 12th century in parts and is well worth a look. The Bury, a grand house in beautiful gardens is nowadays home to a business but last Summer we went to a production there of 'The Witches' done by 'The Chesham players' and we got to sit in the gardens, eat cookies and admire the lovely grounds. read more
