The Historic Maxwell Room is a gem. I booked this venue for a very special birthday celebration. I was drawn to the unique setting, the long bar, and the fact that it has a spacious dance floor. Libby made the experience both easy and delightful, working with me in coordinating directly with the cake vendor and my DJ in terms of delivery and set-up, as well as accommodating unexpected last minute changes and being there for me throughout the night to ensure all was on track. The wait and bar staff were also perfect. Guests have continued to rave about the food and the venue. The Maxwell Room was an amazing experience for our wedding. We worked with Libby who coordinates the events at The Maxwell Room. Libby was the most amazing person we worked with, out of all of our vendors. She will do whatever it takes to make sure your wedding goes by smoothly. Libby was a saving grace the day before our wedding when we had an emergency change if plans. Libby spoke with vendors she was familiar with and helped get us exactly what we needed during a very stressful time for us. I would recommend Maxwell Room for Libby alone. Libby was our personal waiter the day of the wedding and made sure we had plenty of drinks, and made sure our food was perfect. Libby even noticed that one of the salads had croutons that was supposed to be gluten free, and she sent the salad back for a new salad. I can tell that Libby loves her job, and loves seeing the events go through as best as possible. I could tell she genuinely cares about everyone that attended, and especially cares about the bride and groom. She was a tremendous help, and I could tell she would have done anything to make sure our night was perfect. The Maxwell room is a gorgeous venue with plenty of room for 50 guests. The venue has an old school, vintage bar feel. We had a Gatsby theme wedding. The venue looks amazing when it is dressed up with flowers, and minor personal touches. We had plenty of great photo opportunities. We decorated the dining hall with our own decorating company and it was the most amazing thing I have seen. The arch The Maxwell room provided for our wedding was decorated with fresh flowers from our florist and turned out to be stunning. The acoustics of our violinist we hired were perfect for the size of room. Once we began to dance for the evening we found ourselves to have plenty of room for our first dance, as well as partying for all of our guests at the end of the ceremony. The food was amazing. We had the Chimichurri steak and it was perfectly cooked. Multiple guests commented on how perfectly cooked the steak was. The staff that worked our wedding was amazing. The bartenders worked seamlessly, and the drinks were great. We even had our own signature cocktail made just for our wedding. The food was served on time, and everyone got exactly what they ordered. There was no issues at all with the waiters and waitresses. I would recommend Maxwell room 100%. Libby was the greatest person we worked with, and she will make sure your day goes perfectly as planned. read more

What can I possibly say about Libby and this venue! Libby makes every step of planning just about as easy as can be. I planned my wedding in 6 weeks from Los Angeles and she was always available and upfront about everything. She made it so easy for us and the space is so beautiful already, we only added flowers. Libby is the perfect person to have on your wedding day because she's super smart, organized, efficient, and all around awesome. Her staff was incredible and my guests raved about the space and food. I love that there were so many nooks and crannies to hang in. The dining room is off from the dance floor, so people can hear each other over dinner. The bar is HUGE and fun. We recently had our wedding reception at The Maxwell Room. Our wedding day was a dream come true! I can't begin to thank the staff at The Maxwell Room enough for ensuring that we had the best reception possible! The venue made our small wedding of 31 people feel intimate. Gigi and her staff treated us like gold, and made sure we had a stress-free, fun-filled evening. Gigi in particular really put this out-of-town bride at ease with planning a Florida wedding from afar in New York City! In terms of affordability, our reception was very affordable. Our budget was $10,000 or under, and we spent less than half of that at The Maxwell Room. This allowed us to splurge in other ways, but we did not feel like we compromised the quality we were seeking in going with the Maxwell Room for our reception. In fact, they exceeded our expectations with respect to the food we were served and the service we were offered. Our food was delicious, and Gigi, the Event Coordinator. was so attentive and patient with this slightly frazzled, out-of-town bride. She made sure we had an amazing experience, as did her servers and bar tender. We got married in February 2019, and I cannot tell you how wonderful of an experience it was to work with the Historic Maxwell Room. Libby first off is super down to earth and so accommodating. Our wedding started as a courthouse idea and went all the way to a full fledged wedding. So we had a few changes here and there through out the 5 months of planning, and it was never a problem for Libby and her team. The price is right and totally available on the website. No need for the pesky contact inquiries, you can find it right there in front of you. And for what you get, the food is phenomenal, the drinks are plentiful, and it made for an incredible night. Service is top notch! And the actual appearance of the place is so unique especially in South Florida. You won't find another place like it ladies. Please look no further! I had my wedding here in January. It was beautiful and they made accommodations for having the ceremony inside rather than out, as originally planned, because of rain. Libby assured me that she would coordinate the day for us, however she didn't do what she had made it seem like she would. For example she did not indicate when we should start walking down the aisle, so my bridal party had to coordinate themselves walking. You will definitely need to hire your own separate day of coordinator. Thankfully my DJ was amazing. He stepped up and coordinated everything when he realized what was lacking so things still went smoothly. Another thing, the Thai marinated steak that Libby recommended as one of the dishes for our reception came out so rare that many of my guests couldn't eat and had to ask for it to be cooked longer. It was also extremely tough and chewy. We arranged with Libby that the signature drink would be a strawberry mojito, however that drink was not available on the wedding day. Even though these issues are not huge, every bride expects that her day be perfect. I spent a fair amount of my day worrying about coordination and details that I should have been able to trust would be taken care of for me. By far one of the greatest venues we have ever visited. We were introduced to this establishment by a family member who thought it would be a great place to have our wedding! The attraction was the rustic brick look which reminded us of Savannah, Georgia. The wedding was phenomenal and it all started with the event coordinator Libby who stole our hearts. The maxwell room is connected to the Downtowner which is the perfect counterpart. We've dined in this restaurant so many times and have never had a bad experience. The food is always delicious (regardless what you order) and the drinks are potent. The management team is incredible and exude the epitome of customer service. After searching through all of Fort Lauderdale I thought my husband and I would never be able to have the dream wedding that would fit into our small budget. That all changed when I made a phone call to the Maxwell room & Libby returned my call the same night. She was understanding to all our our wants/needs & very flexible. My husband and I were looking for a casual but classy place to get married in Fort Lauderdale. We got married at the Historic Maxwell Room June 29, 2013; it was the perfect venue for us! Our ceremony was on the sea wall next to the New River and showed off the Fort Lauderdale waterway and impressive boats to our many out-of-town guests. But inside the venue has beautiful brick and wood that reminded us of our "homeland" in New England. In addition, there is an outside corridor that leads to the venue that is lined with flowering trees and lights and makes a perfect place for guests to chat and have cocktails. The event coordinator, Gigi, helped us to plan our day just the way we wanted it! She was flexible, receptive, and, most importantly, we could tell that she wanted us to have the best wedding day that she could provide. The room is so beautiful that it needed very little decoration - just some candles and we were in business! Our family and friends raved about the food and loved the ambiance of the venue. We were kind of at the end of our rope when a good friend recommended we check out the Maxwell Room. When we arrived I quickly realized I had come across their website during my search for venues and remembered how charming it was at the time. Based on the pictures I had wrongfully assumed that it would not be affordable. The venue is not only beautiful but there is something special about it that resonates the moment you step through the doors. We were greeted warmly by Libby, the event planner for the venue. She spent a great deal of time with us and displayed a genuine interest in making sure our event was perfect. There was no hard sell. She answered every question and guided us through the many menu and liquor options that they offer for their events. They have options for every budget. They also offer 3 different options for your ceremony location. You can choose to have it indoors, in their courtyard, or on the sea wall overlooking the New River. We left there knowing with certainty that we had found our wedding venue. From day one of planning Libby was always within reach if we had any questions or concerns. Hurricane Matthew blew through town two days before our wedding and there was tremendous uncertainty about our event. Libby was quick to assuage our fears and assure us that all would be fine. The actual wedding day came and I have to tell you that everything from start to finish was flawless. When we walked in to the venue for the first time after it had been set up, before the ceremony, everything was even more stunning than I had imagined. We had chosen to get married in the courtyard using a seating arrangement that was the opposite of how they normally do it. We described to Libby what we wanted and she and her team executed it perfectly. Inside, the ambient lighting cast a soft glow on the meticulously set dining area. The service from the bartenders and waitstaff was impeccable. We had chosen a duet plating of Thai marinated skirt steak and Mahi-Mahi and when the food came out we were stunned by the generous portions. Our guests raved how delicious the food was and I saw a lot of clean plates around the room. I could rave on and on about our experience, but will finish by simply saying that Libby and her crew gave us the dream wedding we imagined and we will be forever grateful for the wonderful memories they helped us create that day.
