I purchased a sofa set at Costco and was referred to HMAC...Herb quoted me $99 to deliver (I live in the West San Jose area and the sofa was purchased at the Santa Clara Costco). After making an appointment and being given an appointment window (2 hour block) for the next day... AND BOOM!!! Sofa came right on time as promised. We purchased a pair of desks and file cabinets at Costco this weekend, and it was too much to fit into our wagon so we used their contracted delivery service, HMAC. I just received delivery and was very happy with their professionalism. The scheduled delivery time was quoted as some time between 10am and noon. Rich called me at 9:30 to let me know that I was likely to receive delivery closer to noon than 10am, and then called again at 11:15 to let me know that they were on their way and would be here at 11:40. Such a small thing, to call and let me know when they have more accurate information, but it really made a big impression on me. How many times have I waited at home for hours, wondering if and when a delivery was actually going to show up? This was a pleasure. Thanks guys! read more

We just had a 3 piece sectional delivered by HMAC, per Costco's referral. HMAC was able to work around my schedule, and provided excellent communication leading up to our delivery. On the day of our scheduled delivery, Julio & Johnny arrived at my house early (they called before to ensure that this would be okay, which it absolutely was!) and they were very courteous and professional. They moved our large furniture through our fairly small entryway with ease. Our previous professional movers had to take off our entire front window to get a similarly sized couch in before! HMAC made the maneuver look like a piece of cake! During assembly of the sectional and ottoman, Julio was super personable, and very pleasant to speak with. The gentlemen were both very polite, and made sure that I was happy with their services before leaving. I highly recommend them, and wouldn't hesitate to use them in the future! Totally screwed by the price. I am writing an honest review here, this is straight up. First off, ALWAYS get a quote in writing. This over the phone B.S. just doesn't fly. I gave 1 stars because the other 2 young movers were great. This should have been A LOT less. I am editing my previous review because I forgot to mention the overwhelming smell of Marijuana smoke the wafted out of the front of the truck cab when the 3 of them opened the doors as soon as they pulled up to the new place with our stuff in tow. I believe people have the right to do what they want. BUT, getting high on my time, the time I AM PAYING YOU A LARGE SUM OF MONEY TO WORK FOR.... that is just so disrespectful it's not even funny. Do whatever you want on your own time, but not on my time. Our neighbor worked for the owner for years, and contacted him and Herb said oh yeah i'm giving you guys a deal. Hence the reason I did not shop around, and the $400 quote he gave me previously as well. He must have told me about ten times he would be giving us a deal. So, we had some conversations, he came over and looked at our apartment to gauge how much it may run us. To start, we only have 1 bed, a couch, an exercise machine, one 5-6 foot long dresser, and one 4-5" tall dresser, as well as our kitchen table, just a plain old wood table with 4 wooden chairs. The rest of our things were in bins and boxes. Mind you, our new apartment is on the 3rd floor, and there are 2 small sets of stairs to get to each level, so in all, 6 small sets of stairs, which he supposedly included in the $400 quote he gave me. So he came on the Friday, a week from this last Friday, to look around. We didn't end up getting a quote from him, so i called him 2 days before our move so i could find out how much, give or take, I should take out from our account. I had been assured since our first contact that we would be given a "deal", i guess due to our neighbor having worked there or whatever. So, over the phone he told me it would be around $400. They got there last Friday, took them a little under an hour to load their truck with everything in our apartment. We didn't have much at all. So, you get charged for labor ($100/Hr. Supposedly...not much of a deal!), gas, and a fee for having to move the stuff up the stairs. The 2 other guys he brought were great. One of them was super skinny and we could both tell that he was struggling. But, they both busted their asses. Anyway, I gave the 2 guys their tip away from and separately from the actual payment, because we were told by numerous people that if the tips go to the owner, he keeps them, he does not pass them out. This is very sad, as they worked harder than he did. I wanted to MAKE SURE they got what they deserved. The truck was kept running pretty much the entire 3 1/2 hours of unpacking, yes i understand it needs to be on when the gate is being lowered and lifted in the back, but we weren't moving the gate up and down the entire time. Anyway, so pay time comes around. Keep in mind I gave these 2 guys a fair tip, $100 for each of them. They started a little after 11, and ended a little before 4. So, owner comes up with.....Total is going to be $600. So, because he gauged it would be about 4 hours total, and it ended up being just under 5 hours, this jacked up the price $200 extra dollars. REMEMBER, THIS DOESN'T EVEN INCLUDE A TIP FOR THE OTHER GUYS. All together, $800 spent moving our things just under 16 miles away, 1 TRIP with their truck. If i would have known it was going to be this expensive, i would have hired "Starving Students". One of the movers even said "this is the easiest moving job I've done in a long time" so we are thinking yeah it is, because my BF used to move as well. so, this shouldn't be expensive at all. DEAD WRONG. During the move, their huge truck was parked behind some spots. One of our new neighbors needed to get out, and so I told Herb. The new neighbor heard him say "He could swing it", and I was thinking "SERIOUSLY??" it was our first day there at this brand new place, and we have him saying things like this in front of our new neighbors. NOT PROFESSIONAL AT ALL. We don't want to start off at a new place on a bad note. We even bought them lunch before they left. Then, the owner forgot his jacket at our new place, which of course had his car keys, so my boyfriend had to drive to his office all the way across town at 5 in the afternoon in rush hour traffic, and all the way back to our new place down south of 101, worst freeway ever next to 880. After the money we paid, We shouldn't have gone with them. We are satisfied with the fact our stuff was moved from one place to another. I had the misfortune of dealing with this guy called Johny and he was extremely rude and unprofessional. BEWARE of the word play in quote - as others have mentioned here I was also a victim of a verbal contract. I hired HMAC on the recommendation of Costco Santa Clara, where I had just purchased a large, heavy cabinet. That Costco has two vendors they recommend for delivery, but the other one didn't provide installation, just delivery so I called Herb from the store before I made my purchase. He quoted me $79 for delivery only and $99 for delivery and installation - I chose the install option and it really turned out to be a great value. Herb confirmed that he would be able to deliver and install my cabinet that same day (a Sunday!). He called when he was 20 minutes away and showed up promptly. He moved the box from his truck into my kitchen, attached the wheels and rolled my new purchase into position. Here's the thing - Herb was careful. At every step of the move and assembly he took care to make sure that he did not damage my floor nor scratch the cabinet. He took all the packing material with him. I purchased a three piece sectional at Costco and while at the store, they gave me the flier to HMAC as their preferred vendor for furniture delivery. I called HMAC to check on rates and availability, and Herb said they had a 3pm-5pm slot the next day (Sunday) still available -- I said, "oh perfect! yes, we'd like to reserve that." I will admit that I may have not heard Herb say that I needed to call back after I purchased to confirm the time with him, but it was so loud in Costco, that after I hung up the call, I assumed I was all set. So, Sunday rolls around and after waiting for two hours, I called and asked about the status of the delivery. Herb said he had no record of my order and there was no delivery set up for me. I was obviously very confused, but Herb apologized for the confusion and offered $20 off my delivery order of $99, which I greatly appreciated. Herb came the following day to deliver and put the sectional together. He then proceeded to tell me that "after further investigation" he realized it was actually my fault I didn't call back after I purchased the couch to confirm, therefore, he was revoking the $20 discount. OK... I acknowledge the fact that I may not have heard him say I needed to call back, so technically, it wasn't their "fault" they missed my delivery, However, I think it's very unprofessional to tell me that after the fact and revoke the discount they already offered. He began unboxing the sectional and his cell rang... it was a Costco customer and he was setting up a delivery time. Herb was probably talking for about 5 mins (while just standing in my family room), hung up, and proceeded to complain about his customers! He went on rants such as, "these people think they know more about the products than I do... I don't go into your work and tell you what to do,"..."some days, I just want to quit my job, move to mexico, to not have to deal with people," and other stories in which he was clearly implying his customers are complete idiots, a pain to communicate with, and a waste of his time. He took 2 more calls, stopping his work, to set up other delivery times (do they not have an office appointment setter?!). His complaining and taking the calls probably made my appointment 30 minutes longer than it should have been. After all his ranting about customers behind their backs, I was sure he was just going to go on to the next appointment and complain about me, how I didn't follow protocol and call him after purchase. I found him completely unprofessional and rude! I'm very surprised Costco uses him as a preferred vendor because it makes them look bad, as well. Both Chris and Herb were extremely helpful in explaining the steps to secure their services as well as what the charge covers. Herb helped us to figure out a delivery schedule and also adjusted the service charge (since we did not have the room to assemble the couch in our new place upon delivery). We contacted Herb at HMAC for help delivering the backyard playset we purchased at CostCo. The delivery was reasonably priced, on time, and the delivery people were very polite. A week later after I watched the assembly DVD and looked at instructions for the playset, I again called HMAC to get their help with assembly. Again, quality, professional work very reasonably priced. I would highly recommend them for the delivery of your large CostCo purchases and for assembly projects. Terrible avoid at all cost. We bought a 60" TV at Costco and asked them to have it delivered and installed. They introduced this HMAC company. I called and arranged for the tv to be picked up and delivered. They never delivered the tv on the day they were suppose to and called to say they would do it the next morning. Well they never did, they called in the afternoon of the next day to say they would have to reschedule and were very unprofessional and rude on the phone. I ended up canceling it all together and returning the tv to costco. I went to Frys and bought the tv there which is what I should have done to start with. These bozos at HMAC cost costco lots of money. Never use HMAC. If you buy from costco please make sure you can take it yourself and install it. read more

We purchased a sofa from Costco in Sunnyvale and set up delivery with HMAC, their delivery service. They gave us a window of time from 11am - 1 pm the next day. This was perfect, as my wife and I both work, but could make arrangements to be home. So the next day, I get a call from John and HMAC at 9:30 a.m. telling me they'd be delivering the sofa in twenty minutes. I said wait a minute, we're not even home, you guys told us between 11 and 1! John said that they could deliver it later or the next day, but wouldn't explain why they couldn't do the time they committed to. I kept pressing him for a answer. HE HUNG UP ON ME! I called him right back, and he said they could take my sofa back to Costco and I could find another way to get it home. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. He hung up on me again. I was livid. I called back and told him not to hang up. Guess what? He hung up a third time! I called my wife to give her a heads up. She ended up talking them into delivering the sofa at noon. I never had to deal with John directly. These guys are a joke. Their website says something about delivering customer service. Not sure why Costco keeps them employed. read more

I bought a gazebo from Costco and was referred to HMAC as the company that does deliveries/installs for them. I spoke to Herb on the phone, who was extremely nice and friendly. When his team arrived, they were very courteous and seemed like they really knew what they were doing. I had no idea how much work goes into erecting a gazebo! They even finished ahead of schedule and cleaned up after themselves. I felt that the price was fair for the amount of work they did, and my gazebo looks beautiful! No complaints here! read more
