The day before my move, I was told the cost would actually be over $1,100 due to a "call center mistake." I had no time to find another mover, so I was stuck paying nearly double. The franchise manager and owner both admitted the quoting issue was the call center's mistake and that there has been multiple issues with the call center company, but the best they offered was a small discount -- still well above what I was originally told. I understand labor isn't free, but it's unfair to place the burden of your internal errors on the customer. I won't be using this company again and would caution others to get all quotes in writing before booking. The movers were great, I would hire them ten times over however I would never conduct buisness with this company again after that initial experience.

Solomon refers to his customer who was moving in that day as the "st!inky African guy." I was worried bc I had never used a moving company before due to concerns and fear about people knowing where I live, scoping out my house, & then the obvious which is property damage, and other horror stories I had heard. All of these things I expressed to him & he assured me my stuff would be tied down and that they been in the business for 12 years. Let me add STUFF IS MISSING & broken. I spoke w/ him on 10/15, the day of my settlement, between 8am and 9am, and inquired whether it was too late to get movers. He said no, we'll be at the storage unit at 2 p.m. Now, I'm big on supporting black owned businesses and Solomon and his team showed me more and more why it was a horrible idea. I will never ever! I asked him if he was sure since if so, we could move the timing if necessary to 4. He claimed the timing was great and that I need to pay $40 for holding fee. I had him on speaker phone, and my realtor, title firm, and daughter were all listening. I have pictures of when the invoice was paid and when I notified him that it was paid. I asked him again about the pricing and whether it will alter due to the last minute, and he answered no. He added, "Better yet, I'll give you a discount of $550, with the $40 included." When he first spoke with me a few weeks ago, he quoted $525 and claimed he would give me a discount. At 2 p.m., myself, my kid, & my closest friend were waiting for the movers to come. I sent him a call/text about their location, and he said they'd be late around 45 minutes after I sat there since 2pm. The truck arrived late, as did Solomon, and the movers (2 guys) did not show up until 4. During our 1st talk, I expressed my concerns about movers & asked Solomon if he did background checks while being concerned about theft. He chuckled. I contacted him after 1 1/2 hours of waiting; at this point, he is waiting w/us for his contracted movers after Solomon also showed up late. I told him I had to leave at 4 p.m. since the guys wasn't there to pick up my son & return the Verizon box to kill time. I was only able to pick up my son, never to deliver box back and the movers arrived minutes later. During that time, Solomon asked me could I run him about 7-10 mins up the street to his truck. Again, this is my time wasted 2 hours yet he needed a ride. I should have charged him for gas. Then he gets in the car asking personal questions after noticing my government laptop and card. He then started asking where I'm from and all other questions he shouldn't have asked. Also, sharing w/myself and my BF about how the African he helped got money, etc. He knew too much personal stuff about his clients that he shouldn't have known. During the transfer of my belongings, they had no tarp, straps, or anything to secure my belongings, as he stated--TV, dressers, nothing. My best friend and I did the majority of their labor running up and down the steps. The guy upstairs was throwing my stuff everywhere. Solomon stayed downstairs on his cellphone. We left the storage unit after 530pm-6pm, and just 10 minutes later pulling out of the storage unit, Solomon called to say they needed to stop for 15 minutes to eat. They ate after arriving two hours late. They stopped at WAWA parked near the side and back of the building. We waited 25-30 mins at my house bc they had the bulk of our things. The 2 guys brought items in, we realized that my big screen TV had been severely damaged. Solomon addressed me as ma'am before stating that they worked for more than four hours and that he will not charge me $735. Now, while he behind sat in the car doing nothing, his the short guy asked me why was he there. I told him who Solomon and he said yes. I told him I was not sure because I figure he go to all sites with them and he said no he doesn't go to all the sites with them. Part2- I will use my SM platform to expose them. After unpacking I found broken class from m entire kitchen set. He takes no accountability. Only 2 showed and he said it would be 3. They also asked personal questions and scoped out my house. The owner still had their cameras up around the home and heard the two way talk amongst them. It was a set up.

He was so nasty and bc I was loading downstairs I did not see my unit until it was packed and I saw that he threw my things in there and couldn't get the door down I said if you cant get the door closed how am I going to get it open??!! He says what do you want me to do miss?? He was HORRIBLE!! I don't know if my TV is ruined or my mom's keyboard. I told him what he did was unacceptable and he said he would bring a ladder the next day and repack it and to answer ASAP?! I said no! He never apologized nor offered a refund!! U-Haul don't you dare leave this company on your referral list you're doing a disservice to us! I had 2 guys try to open my unit and it took 20 minutes of Prying to open it!!! In early March 2019, at the suggestion of my Realtor, I was tasked to remove additional furniture and personal items from my home in Chesapeake Beach to prepare to place my house on the sales market. After asking the manager of the local storage facility if she knew of any movers she referred me to Mr. Short and his company. (I have lived in Ches Bch for over 30 years and still have issues finding reliable and reasonably priced services in my area. The more rural the landscape the more I understand why a pick up truck and physically strong friends are necessary here. Need connections!) Mr Short responded within 24 hours after my initial query and, after sending him pictures of the items to be moved, he sent me his hourly charges and the approximate (estimated) time that would be necessary to complete the work. He arrived on time and he and his co-worker had the truck packed within 3 hours. I was with this crew through out most of this time and I didn't hear any negative remarks, comments, etc. This company was very careful with my possessions both removing from my house and then packing into the storage facility. In fact, he found a way to preserve a desk that was shaky at best. I am so pleased with Mr. Short's work I am considering this company to permanently move me to NC when I take possession of another house. No problem recommending !

The owner was so kind and said he could send his nephew (who was working for money for college during the summer) to our house in the morning to help gets us packed. His nephew showed up at 8 am. The 2 guys who loaded my daughter's U-Haul in Arlington Virginia were great. They wrapped all the…read morefurniture, paintings, tv etc. with the blankets we rented. This was a small studio apartment move. They were careful while loading and tying everything down. I rented the 2 guys for 2 hours. This was the first time I ever used movers to load and unload a truck. I always did moves myself. The movers who unloaded the truck in Minnesota were done in an hour and 20 minutes. $250 was the charge and I tipped them another $100 because they were so professional and friendly. Exactly 3 minutes after the two hours at 12:03 John called me. The way he started out I thought he must have been sitting there staring at the clock because his first words to me were, are the guys finished loading. I replied they are standing right here. They have three small pieces ready to go on the truck. His immediate, and I mean immediate response was, well I don't do increments of minutes or quarter hours so if you don't want to pay $130 for them to load those pieces tell them to stop. Being in upper management most of my working life I would have never began the conversation in this manner. I'm 72, I knew how to get myself or my company recommended by others. I told the guys to stop loading, I will finish this myself. John heard me tell them this because I had him on speaker. I wanted John to hear me tell the guys I don't want to get you guys in trouble, I'll finish up myself. John started to say something after I told the guys I'd finish up myself, but I hung up rather than continue listening to him. Had I thought about it I would have gotten the phone numbers of the two Arlington men who loaded up the truck and told them when I hear of one of my daughter's friends moving, or one of the people I know, I will call you and tell you I have a person who wants to deal with you guys but not John. Do it on your own personal time. Start your own business. This is how the guys who unloaded the truck in Minnesota got started. They've been doing it 12 years and I can see why as they unloaded the truck. This is never about money with me. I tipped the Minnesota guys $100 and I had no problem paying the $250 for an hour and 20 minutes it took them to unload. I could have used them 40 more minutes and had them unwrap everything and set everything up, but we wanted to do that. It wasn't what John said to me, it was how he said it, then tell the guys to stop, as if that was supposed to make me say oh no, please, don't stop, I'll pay the $130. It's a person's choice how they wants to run their business, however, this is not how you get a recommendation when you start the conversation in this manner. You can use the exact same words used on me but by using a different tone it will not cause the the customer to say, I'll finish it up myself. I'm giving 5 stars to the two moving loaders who were so professional.
