We no longer live in Hanford and arrived for Mother's Day weekend. Decided to gift shop at Hofmans as we used to love their nursery years ago. As we walked in the store and started looking around, my husband said "we are the only ones wearing a mask". Staff, customers, delivery people not one person was wearing a mask....awkward. We didn't have a lot of time so we thought we would get the items we wanted and get on out. We asked a staff member where the ceramic pots were....he pointed in the direction...and that's it. I then asked him about some plants that were on the ground by the entry to the nursery. So we got the pots and as we were getting the plants another woman staff member said "You can't get those plants they haven't been checked". Okay well the other person failed to tell me that. So then we asked about potting soil. Again we were pointed into the direction and were told to get the blue bag. In the good old days....we would have been greeted with friendly hellos and we would have gotten excellent customer service from beginning to end. This time it was poor from beginning to end. I guess the saying is true...You can't go home again. read more

Family owned, the Hofmans originally from Norway, to Massachusetts ,then Hanford. Friendly, knowledgeable, but most of all very approachable. My first time there,stopped in on a visit to my home town. They have a very nice selection of cut metal wall hanging ocean figures. I bought the twin seahorses, but my daughter snatched it up as soon a I showed her. Guess I'll have to make another trip back there. read more

Hoffman's is THE go to nursery in Hanford. The staff is friendly and knows what they are talking about. Plants aren't overpriced like the nursery next to the Monday sale. I just find the quality of plants to be better than from Home Depot or Lowes. They are closed on Sundays, and I'm glad they are. As inconvenience as not being able to shop on a Sunday can be, they are closed for all the right reasons, so props to them. read more

Whether you are a novice or a master gardener, this is the place to visit. Not only is the collection of plants enormous, but the staff is extremely helpful and can answer just about any question you might have. From succulents to ground covering, to vegetables, herbs, bushes, trees, annuals, perennials... they've got it. Those working here are very knowledgeable and also very patient with questions. They are happy to assist customers in selecting appropriate plants, and have a fun collection of garden 'accessories.' Prices are reasonable and plants are healthy. I find myself actually excited when I have to drive "all the way to Hanford" (from Coalinga) because it means I can also visit Hofman's nursery! read more

Great nursery! Save time and money, go here and not to Howes or Home Despot. How? Time is saved by getting great, knowledgable advice from any one of the employees at Hofmans' and so you buy the right plants/flowers for your needs. The previous reviews seem to say it all- or at least most of it. I can add a few things, though. Sometimes the price is a little more- but not always. Sometimes it is a little less. I really appreciate the fact that they don't put out showy plants grown in either a hothouse or a mild area and try to make you think they will thrive (or even survive) in this area. They will bend over to help you fit the right plant to the right spot in your yard. They are expert on plant care for both fertilizing and disease treatments. I also appreciate special orders and the fact they try to find something special for you if you are looking for a special plant. Also, stop in the morning and enjoy a cup of fine premium coffee on them. And buy a bag to take home with you, too. They have a very nice selection of gifts, outdoor benches and ornaments. I've gone to dozens of nurseries around the area, from Selma, Clovis, Fresno, Visalia and Hofman's has always supplied customers with the best products (inventory from all over the state), and special ordered to Hanford.They special ordered Western Redbuds and Tulip trees, and had them waiting for me a week later. They truck delivered bark, and provided knowledge help to put the bark in the back yard. Affordable. Reliable. Also, guaranteed. Thanks Hofmans for 30+ years of service to the community. My husband and I love going here to pick out plants for our yard. The staff is so friendly and knowledgable. The owner, Dick, spent half an hour with me on my first visit since we had just moved here. He gave me a tour of the nursery and helped point out some of the easier drought tolerant plants since I was new to gardening in the Central Valley. They offer a plant guarantee when you buy soil building compost from them. Love having such a great, family-owned nursery here in town! read more

I have been going to Hofmans for my landscaping needs at least 25 years as they are very helpful with what grows well in our area, friendly and knowledgable. I believe their plants are a better quality than big box stores in town. They may be a little more costly but you get what you pay for. A family owned business is what we want to support in our town.
