Bait and Switch..... Hogarths came out in the Spring and sprayed our 2 structures. Tech was very pleasant and treatment worked well. He told up specifically to call in September and they would come and respray and it would be included. They just came out and reapplied and then proceded to charge us 600.00. I called and explained and the gal told me they did not guarantee wood structures so we would need to pay (one structure is log home). I explained that the Tech in the spring explicitly told us to call in Sept and it would be free. She replied that was not how it worked...... I offered to try and "work something out" and was told she would take us off the schedule...... VERY BAD. read more

We have used Hogarth's for many years to combat Mosquitos and have always been pleased with the results. Our technician Parker, arrived on time and was quite courteous. I did ask numerous questions about the products being used. He was patient and very knowledgeable about the products (what they are made with and what exactly they do). Honestly, I was shocked to read any negative reviews! I have never experienced anything other than stellar service from this company. They charged me $500 to spray for ants, i never agreed to this amount before they did the service and they charged my card. Ohearn said the same service would be $175 tops. disappointed and wont recommend or use hogarths again. read more

Do not use this company. I was charged a $75 cancellation fee for an appointment I never agreed to. I had an appointment for Aug. 16th, but it had to be postponed due to rain. I was told the "scheduler" would contact me to reschedule when the forecast was better. Instead, on Monday 19th a service person was sent out, without my consent, to our cabin that we are NEVER at on Mondays! We would never have agreed to this date as we wanted to meet with the service person. Hogarths has refused to refund this charge citing their "cancellation policy". I believe this company is very thorough and knows this business however I was not told UP FRONT that by agreeing to the 150$ inspection I was committed to "all or nothing" approval of their recommendations. The technician report stated "let us know if you want to move forward with any of all of these recommendations"but when I sent an email agreeing to $2000 of the $2900 in recommendations, they refused to do any of the work unless I agreed to all of it. I do understand that they feel this work is required for their limited 1 year guarantee, however, the 900$ "woodpecker flasher system" that I did not want installed was specifically excluded from a guarantee. I attempted to negotiate but they were not interested. Now I need to start over with a new company. Very dissappointed. read more

We have used Hogarth's several times in the past years. Every time they left our property, I was always left with an unpleasant experience. Parker was always the technician who came to address the issues. He rambled on about how he could "give us a discount because they are a family business", yet when I received a final bill, I was charged full price. He also reeked like he had dumped an entire bottle of cologne on himself prior to showing up. The scent lingered long after he had left. 0/10 stars. We find pest control problems solved from other businesses, and are much happier. read more

We had this company come out to remove bats, they squeezed us in and everything was good. I had asked a few questions during the first service and the man (owner son) was very snippy and short. We did not fully review our contract and we're unclear that the bat guano would not be cleaned up. I was again asking some questions and getting clarification and the man was unbelievably rude and unprofessional! I called and his mother apologized on his behalf but ultimately blamed it on us for not getting clarification in the first place. So make sure you are very clear and don't ask questions!!! read more

Hogarth's started out strong with baiting mouse traps at my seasonal home, but the last service was nothing but poor. In their own words, the technician was too big to fit under the 2 1/2 foot space under my porch, so two bait traps were left 10 feet away from the base of the house in the garden. Also, since he could not go under the porch to retrieve their old trap, where the last technician had correctly placed it, they charged me 50 extra dollars for a new bait trap. A phone call to resolve this matter was by rudeness and sarcasm, the woman was probably having a bad day due to the crying baby that was relentless in the background. I did indeed sign a contract with Hogarth's in late May (2021). The contract was to remove a squirrel(s) that appeared to be entering a vent above my youngest son's bedroom.....after several failed attempts to actually schedule the work (which they wanted $8500 for), I called another pest control vendor --- they came & fixed the problem in 2 days for only $1600. Finally, today, I received a call to schedule the work......I told them the work was already completed; why have I not heard from you in over 5 weeks? I was told I signed a contract and that I now owed them 10% for breaching it.....I argued, but finally just gave up! They charged me $850 today......for what? Absolutely nothing. I'm sure they do good work. In fact, I have no doubt they do good work. BUT, that is not how you treat people. I was more than happy to pay above market pricing to have a serious problem fixed. 5 full weeks with no contact or status is unfair. Be careful before signing anything with Hogarth's........it'll cost you!.....(when they get around to it). read more

I've used Hogarth's for many years but have been consistently disappointed in recent years. Agree with Beth L and had similar experience. It was $4,000 or nothing. Also, not surprised by comments from Scott W. Hogarth's and agree they do not treat their customers well. They don't respond to questions, promise they will call you back but they don't (see Chuck O.) So it's all consistent. They want you to sign contract and ask for your credit card upfront. Had a misunderstanding about a few small windows prior to a treatment and they billed me a $75 service charge. Simply refused to further discuss the issue and then wanted to come back and do the service for another $250-$300. They also raise their prices and don't tell you up front. - they just bill the higher amount. And in general, Hogarth's appears to be significantly higher priced than other companies. Yes, they probably do good work, but they are expensive, and their customer service is severely lacking. Very disappointed. read more

I used Hogarths for 15 years and was very disappointed last year. I had new steps put in and called them to spray them and they wanted almost as much to spray 15 steps as they did the whole house( the carpenter thought there were ants). I asked if I could talk to Tucker they said he was out of the office but would call me back after the Labor Day weekend. Never heard from him. I was very surprised at the basic lack of courtesy after spending over 5,000 dollars over the years on their services and never asking for any respray or guarantee service. I would be cautious using them if you are not very near their home office. read more

We recently moved to Traverse City area. Hogarth's Pest Control was contacted and an appointment was scheduled for house, hot tub, deck and "outbuilding" spraying. Their pre-spray instructions were followed to ensure the best outcomes. The company's representative arrived promptly as scheduled (April, 2017); we enjoyed a bug free environment the entire summer and into late fall. Perhaps most important-we received an email in March of this year (2018) to remind us that their schedules are filling up fast-which prompted us to schedule a late April appointment. This company is nothing fancy; just effective, responsive and accountable. And their pricing is very competitive. read more

I had a very serious mouse problem when moving into a new house this winter. I called them and they sent someone out the very next day. Donnie Was very knowledgable with all the questions and concerns I had. He was kind, professional and even followed up with me to make sure things were going well. Having dogs I had concerns and he used devices that are pet safe and explained to me how everything worked. The mice were gone within days and they supplied follow up tools to manage it long term. I would highly recommend them to friends and family. A huge plus was the affordability. I would not hesitate to call them for any pest related issues I have in the future. read more
