There is a nominal charge, which will make sense to you later if you are in the area around the clock with 400 people, only so many people can fit The video is excellent, and is presented in French, German, and English. The clock itself is a treasured masterpiece of clock-making, astronomy, and mathematics. The storytelling is very good, as well.

This clock is inside the church so if the church is closed you won't see it. It's tucked int he…read moreback corner and seems to be under repair. It's still working, but it is blocked by scaffolding partly. Hard to take a photo of the whole thing just because of location, people, lighting and repair work, but still a wonder to behold. When I think of the craftsmanship that went into this all those years ago. So many functions both quirky and practical. I have to give this a thumbs up.

However this will give you one of the most incredible views of Strasbourg. It costs only 8€ to enter and they do accept most credit cards. The entrance is located outside the main entrance to the cathedral. If look for a small door on the side that says "Ascension de la Cathedral". It is an amazing experience and I recommend it for anyone who wants to see an incredible view.

The monastic fraternities of Jerusalem are doing incredible work here! I went for Ash Wednesday…read moremass and it was a full house. So many joyful young people! With vespers and mass, it was about 90 minutes and yet people sought it out because Jesus is here, alive in this place. Bless you all!

In part it would be surprising that one would find a Protestant Church in France, especially one as…read moreold as this, but the thing is that this is Strasbourg, and it's inclusion in France has been challenged and disputed over the ages (and numerous wars have been fought over it as well). Anyway, it is one of those old churches, and a protestant church as well, but it turns out that it actually retains all of its art, which I have to admit is actually pretty cool. It may not be as fancy as some, but I still quite liked it.

I originally thought that this was the church that Calvin originally was assigned to before heading…read moreup to Geneva and basically starting that movement that has caused an awful lot of pain and heartache to people the world over. However, it turned out that that church was across the river, so unfortunately it felt as if my trip to Strasbourg sort of hit a bit of a dead end. However, all was not lost because I did think that this church was quite nice, and like a number of other protestant churches around the area, they still have the art inside as well, something that I certainly appreciated.
