I missed spacious and aesthetically pleasing grocery stores with huge selections and fresh food, such as Wegman's or Whole Foods. This award-winning Edeka is clean and beautiful, with large bakeries, delis, cafés, a sushi area, and a substantial international food section as well. They also have a parking garage and a relatively large section for housewares and toiletries, which I also appreciate. Fantastic location.

Just something light and then some bottled water for the hotel room. I found most of that at the nearby ALDI but also popped in to REWE because. I thought REWE was equivalent to the American 7-Eleven but it's not. This is a nearly complete supermarket that would be more than the British Tesco Express but not quite a Supercenter. Think "Walmart Neighborhood Market" with fresh food, ready-to-eat and ready-to-heat, dairy, produce, fresh meats and frozen, lots of canned and bottled, and at the very back, a rack of beers and wine. No, the checkout girl does not speak English but it's not really required. Just remember to bring your own bag (or buy one) and have your payment ready. Beim letzten Mal Strozzapreti gekauft, frisch: es war Mängelware, voller schwarzer Flecken vom Maschinenöl. Definitiv ein Abfallprodukt, schön, dass es hier als Feinkost verkauft wird. Sonst bloß nie etwas fragen, niemand hier kann einem weiterhelfen, und wenn dann nur in Zeitlupe. An der Kasse fehlt RIGOROS immer eine Artikelnummer, die die Kassiererin ebenfalls in Zeitlupe schnarchend irgendwann auftreibt. Wir machen nur noch einen grossen Bogen um den Laden.
