This place isn't cheap (averaging a £100 a night). The location, on Canterbury's high street, was excellent. My room was quite pleasant. The view (of a corrugated roof) wasn't exactly inspiring. Tea-making facilities are available in the room along with a few top-grade cookies and organic tea. The bed was comfortable but the height of it and the placement of the television (at a little over bed-height) when combined with my double chin made TV viewing a little uncomfortable. Poor planning. Breakfast was very nice. However, not without some problems. On the first day we went down at 10am expecting that half an hour would be plenty of time. Due to the slow service by the time our breakfast had arrived they had started clearing away the buffet items. My full English breakfast wasn't as full as it could have been. I only had one fried egg and there was no black pudding (kaszanka). Not that I am particularly fond of black pudding, but I would like to get some. I suspect I had been given someone else's break. Oh, the toast was burnt too. When I am staying in a classy hotel I expect them not to burn my toast. Breakfast on the second day was more agreeable, I arrived early to ensure I was able to take advantage of the buffet. The hotel's cocktail bar was very nice. The first night I had an egg nog and for a nightcap a banana rumba drink. Not cheap at ten pounds a shot. But, hey, I wasn't paying Checking out was a pain. The girl had trouble understanding that I wanted separate bills for each night's stay. I gave up in the end.

Plus, Patisserie Valeri across the street has some of the best pastries i've ever had. -The rooms were nice, a good size and modern. The beds were comfortable but a wee-bit narrow but nothing extreme. -The staff was O.K nothing to write home about but they are not very knowledgeable of the area but were fine overall -The restaurant looks like a complete waste of money but then again I didn't find the desire to eat there with so many options just down the street. The service very friendly…read more We were moved here from the Pilgrims Hotel near the middle of the old town, since that hotel was undergoing renovations beyond schedule, and these are two of four hotels owned by the same people. At first we were a little bummed to be away from the middle, especially because we had to lug our bags all the way over from Pilgrims to Castle House. But in the end we were happy with the hotel. The somewhat remote location made us walk more and explore things that we otherwise probably wouldn't have found. I believe the pricing is similar to Pilgrims, which is quite reasonable.

Actually particularly the tiling in the bathroom and the size of the bathroom are amazing. We spent a lot of time at the bar area and the spa. The spa is equipped with a steam room and a sauna. The sauna was no more than 40 Celsius. The steam room was okay in terms of heat. The jacuzzi was lukewarm at best. The pool was well heated and you can swim nice long lapse. The fitness studio is equipped with techno gym equipment, lots of weight equipment, even TRX, a rowing machine and much more. It has a good size. You find towels and water there (not always a given). I very much enjoyed the changing area, which offered GHD blow dryers. The staff (including the facilities guy Dell and the front desk lady Ella) were soooo kind. Big thank you to them. We were a bit disappointed at breakfast. The service was super slow and the selection often limited (because the staff didn't have time to refill quickly). We waited about 20 mins on tea and coffee at breakfast. What also bothered me a bit was how cold it was in many parts of the main building. The insulation is rather sparse in these older buildings. The windows are single paneled. If you sit in the bar area, you're guaranteed to feel a cold shiver sitting by the window area.

They couldn't be more helpful or approachable. The hotel itself is an outstanding building (reached it's current incarnation during the Edwardian time I believe). Surrounded by 3,000 acres including a golf course. We went for a wedding, so didn't sample the golf course, or the Spa, or the conference facilities etc, but the formal gardens are well cared for and a great backdrop to the photos! And the food, a subject very close to my heart; was brilliant. My wife is on a non-lactose, non-gluten diet and of a 5 course meal on offer, she was able to have ... 5 courses. OK, we had to advise them in advance, but the adaptation was without fault. It's the first time my wife has been able to have a full meal at a restaurant/hotel for years! Oh, almost forgot the accommodation; we stayed in one of the mews cottages for the Saturday night; excellent! due largely as a result of the housekeeping, a lot of which goes on behind the scenes, but as I said the staff were all amazing. The only downside is that we live in Somerset and Eastwell Manor is, of course in Kent, so we won't be going there too often, but distance is the only barrier. Would totally recommend this venue.

I was out back in the coach house, which was a little surprising, and a little inconvenient as they were in the middle of doing renovations, so we were having to walk through or around large plastic sheets. The location was perfection, and the staff were helpful. I had an injury and was able to get ice each night when I got back to keep the swelling down. Would like to go back when renovations are complete.

For people on foot or bike it is fantastic, if you're driving a car, not as much. Route to the hotel is challenging with a car. Also no onsite parking. Car park is an extra $15USD. But back to the good, room was comfortable and breakfast was very classic BnB. Staff were all great, lady managing the breakfast did a great job with the morning rush.

The owners are very friendly and down to Earth, and while it may be a bit tricky to find them on a busy evening in the bar, they're quick to sign you in and show you to your room. We even had our room upgraded to a bigger larger bed. The room is modest but clean and nice and certainly fair for the price. The booking also comes with a complimentary breakfast (my first English breakfast) which was good. Big. Britishy. But good. Our only complaint arose when someone decided to enter the previously empty room across from us and start having sex all night with the door open. Old building + thin walls + weird sex & slapping sounds = really unhappy Jenny. While after a solid but polite 'shut up' conversation, they did finally go to bed. Or at least closed the door. But the next morning after an odd apology from the owners combined with an unfortunate voice recognition during breakfast we realised that the slapping sex couple were friends with the owners of the hotel. The whole thing was a bit odd. That being said, the owners were quite accomodating and even allowed us to keep our room until we left to catch the coach back to London. To be honest, this is the sort of place that's best for chatty folk who are looking for something relaxed, chilled and to get a taste of town life. If you're looking for a bit more a romantic weekend getaway, choose somewhere else.
