Was in town for a concert at Hazleton Area High School. Room was clean and bed was comfy. Close to places to eat. Check-in was easy.

Very disappointing. It's not often that I am given the key to a room that is already occupied but when I am it's entertaining. The key I was given unlocked the door but when I turned the knob and pushed the deadbolt was engaged. This is definitely a security issue. I was given the key to a new room, after the show, to correct the error. When I walked in I found that the housekeeping staff was nice enough to leave the soap from the last guest in the shower for me. While I am concerned about the environment there are some things I'm not going to reuse. I assumed that my night's entertainment was done and I could finally relax after a long day of traveling but I was wrong. That was just the beginning. When I settled in to sleep a woman stomped up and down the hallway of the hotel, screaming obscenities, while she looked for her a man who was apparently there with another person? I don't know- but I didn't pay for this drama. She nicely banged on my door while screaming obscenities. Wrong door maybe? While entertaining, this is not what I had hope for or deserve in a hotel. I guess that's 'keeping it classy here in Butler Township? Next security issue: This was after 11pm. Why wasn't the front door locked? Could a locked door have prevented this? Your key pad by the front door is covered by a bush which tells me that it's never used. How do you expect to keep people from stomping in them wandering the halls looking for someone while screaming if you don't lock the door? To make it better the phone in the room wasn't connected to the wall. When I plugged it in ir didn't work. I had to work out another means to inform the front desk of the drama so they could deal with it so I can sleep. I wasn't going to walk there because, we'll, there was a screaming angry woman in the hall so used my mobile phone to call the front desk. After being hung up on 7 times and getting a busy signal a few more times the clerk finally answered and told me that other guests had called and the police were on the way. Next security issue- maybe the phone in the room should work? For me, as a guest, I expect a room that was not already occupied. I expect a working phone in my room to be able to call the front desk in the event of a problem. I expect the door to be locked after hours for my safety These expectations were not met. While it was an entertaining evening I expect more when I pay for a place to stay. Oh, the room was adequate, moderately clean and not smelly- except for the used soap. read more

Stayed here for one night after stopping on an extended trip due to snow! The desk clerk was friendly and prompt upon entering, our reservation was made online prior to stop so check in was fast. The room and hallways were dated but sufficiently clean and odorless. The room and bathroom were very clean and orderly. All blankets, sheets and pillows were also clean and comfortable. The breakfast in the great room was very good and staff were constantly cleaning and restocking all food and drink items. Platinum IHB member here. I found this location with the app and it had plenty of parking and the check in was quick and easy. The room was decent & the shower was hot. Breakfast was a grab and go Jimmy dean hand egg & cheese. Bananas and yogurt were pretty good. read more

Ok this place it a bit run down but. . . The room was huge with a kitchen, sofa, and an easy chair. Breakfast really was all you could ask for from this type of hotel - they had nearly anything you could want, muffins, bagels, yogurt, cereals, eggs, sausage and reasonable tea. My husband said the coffee was good. But the reason I gave them an extra star was the kindness of the man when we checked in at 8:30 on a Sunday night. He went out of his way to find us a discounted rate when he really didn't need to. He was lovely. This Holiday Inn Express is on the lower end of what you'd expect from the chain and is due for a refresher. I wonder, in fact, if it's on its way to closing due to not enough business. Pros: *Lower rate for a HIE. *Shower head has great water pressure (it stirs up a wind, ha!). *Nice view--the area feels secluded and has some lovely mountains. *If you like BBQ, there's a great spot for it 5 minutes down the road. Cons: *Lower end mattress will cause aches to those who need better beds (like me!). *The breakfast was a lower end of the usual. Rubbery sausage, rubbery pancakes (the auto waffle makers are so much better), dry omelets with cheese, bad coffee, old hard boiled eggs. Luckily there is always yogurt and English muffins... *Lighting in the room is very low *bathroom comes stocked with exactly two thin towels. *Firm pillows are ok if you like them super thick. Five stars might seem extravagant for a Holiday Inn. However, it is a 5 star holiday inn. We were happy with the service. Check In was easy and relatively fast. $125 out the door. Room was clean, queen beds, crisp sheets. 4 pillows per bed. Bath and body works products. Shampoo, conditioner and lotion. Shower was standard. Fiberglass insert with bigger rain head. Heater was a little loud but I wasn't surprised. Road noise from freeway is apparent but tolerable. Breakfast was probably the best free breakfast I've had. Keep in mind, ITS FREE BREAKFAST. DONT BE SO PICKY.... anyway, great selections, hot food and coffee, yummy options. Would recommend and stay here again. read more

Great unexpected stay. We had to book when we made a trip to town. Beds were comfy. Room was clean. Shower is exceptional. We always gauge a room by the quality of shower and they were top notch. Will stay when we are in town again visiting family. Social distancing and mask wearing was enforced adding to our comfort level. Pool and breakfast was shut down during the pandemic but the rate reflected that. read more

This property was very clean and the gentleman at the front desk was extremely pleasant and helpful. We arrived around 11 pm just to call it a day after several hours of driving. The cookies were fresh even that late! My only complaint was the heating unit in the room was not very good as it clicked on and off several times throughout the night trying to kick on. We did not sleep well, and were a bit chilled through the morning. I'm not certain if this was because of booking through Hotels.com or was simply a fluke thing. But for the price of $100 for a room in the middle of nowhere, I expect it to be flawless. I will say that the bed and pillows were very comfortable. The next morning's breakfast was exceptional-Just what we needed to get going on our way into NYC. I'd try it out again on our next trip in, but will request the room be checked and FUNCTIONAL prior to our arrival. read more

Stained carpets, grime in the room and bathroom, and the walls are paper-thin to the point where I had to ask the people in the next room to stop talking at 1am so I could go to sleep. Really it's a 3.5 We thought the beds and pillows were fine, rooms were clean. No microwave or frig. which is always disappointing. No pool. Breakfast was pretty good. The front desk people are pleasant, especially the gentleman. Easy on off location to I-80. read more

My stay here has been beyond exceptional. Of all the hotels I've stayed in over the years (some acclaimed five star resorts), Holiday Inn Express in Drums has offered the absolute,its best customer service! The hotel staff members were friendly and welcoming from the moment I walked through the door. The gentleman at the front desk that evening was very accommodating and helpful! I'd pulled off I-81 after a long and stressful drive, desperately in need of sleep, and not in a place to have made a reservation beforehand. Despite the hotel being almost full, the front desk clerk made sure to find me the room I needed. He was so sincere about wanting me to be comfortable. The room was gorgeous! Considering I only spent about $100 on this room, I assumed the service would be sub par, or something would go wrong, at some point. It never was, and it never did. In the morning, the breakfast bar was far more stocked with delicious and even healthy options for breakfast than I expected! The front desk staff in the morning (two women; one of which I found out later was the GM), were excited to help in any way. From directions to toiletries to general inquiries, even a bit of conversation, they were delighted to assist me, and get me what I needed. If you are passing through this area, or if you are planning to, I HIGHLY recommend staying at this hotel. You won't be disappointed! read more
