Their "wonderful" pantry to buy drinks.
    David M.

The good: Located right off the highway. Room was spacious. The bed was comfy with soft sheets & pillows. The bad: the carpet in the room had several dark stains. When we checked in, the trash can by the 2nd floor elevator was overflowing with trash and a pizza box with pizza still in it sitting on top. All of the trash was still there the next day when we checked out. The light in the stairwell was flashing on & off like a horror movie. Their little 'pantry' store where you can buy drinks & snacks was 99% empty, NO drinks and a few bags of chips. To top it all off: We booked this hotel specifically because it included a 'free' breakfast which we were told was from 7:00-10:00AM. We went down about 8:45 and was told 'nope, sorry, there's no food left'. Really? REALLY?!? When I inquired at the front desk about a partial refund, I was informed 'nope, too bad, you booked through a third party vendor, talk to them'. Final thoughts: DO NOT STAY HERE‼It's clear none of the employees care about the customers or the property. There is a Best Western right next door and THAT'S where we will stay next time.

Not clean at all! The bed was very comfortable and looked clean but the bathroom was disgusting. The towels are stiff and little, no softness whatsoever. It was quiet and dark which was nice. The free breakfast had a lot to be desired. It had sausage, sausage gravy, biscuits, muffins, bread, a couple cinnamon rolls, pressed egg omelettes without cheese, oatmeal and cereal. The sausage gravy was ok, not horrible and the biscuits were good just slightly hard. The juice was good. There were a stack of bananas that had so many fruit flies because the stack obviously had rotting ones at the bottom. The girl was so concerned with the cleanup after each person she never paid attention to that

The last sentence. Someone was suppose to customize that statement but... fail

Clean. Seemed new. Staff was friendly and professional. Not sure why all the bad reviews. It isn't a 5 star hotel but it def was clean.

My Family & I checked into our room last week and found the room dirty & not properly equipped with towels, face clothes or Shampoo. We found the bathroom floor dirty and some poo in front of the toilet on the floor. The bathroom sink would not drain and immediately filled with water which was very annoying. We were placed in a Handicap room which has a shower where one can just roll in a wheel chair without a threshold. This caused water to flood the bathroom floor each time one of us took a shower. We complained about this and the fact that the shower only had a handheld showerhead with poor pressure. When we called the front desk to ask for more towels and shampoo they suggested we move our room. We packed up all our luggage and belongings and moved to the new room. The very 1st day in that room the toilet clogged. Again, I called the front desk and asked for someone to come and fix the clog, once again their remedy was to move our room. We had just spent about 45 mins. moving to this room, I wasn't wasting more of my time and energy because they didn't have adequate remedies in place or sufficient staff to correct the toilet problem. I asked if they had a Plunger and I would try to clear the clog myself. They brought me the plunger and I fixed the problem. The next day the toilet clogged again so I sent my Son to ask for the Plunger and the Girl at the front Desk told my Son that your Dad is going to get a huge refund for all his trouble. It took over an hour to clear the blockage this time. I was very annoyed and upset that I had to do all this after paying good money to stay here on our Vacation. During our entire stay at this propertyone of the two elevators was not in service which caused us to wait longer than normal for an elevator. The Pool which we planned to use daily to cool off was not in service our entire stay, and was Green and full of algae. I asked the Girl at the desk the night before checking out how will I be compensated for all our aggravation, and she said the manager will be here in the morning and he will take care of me. I asked her to put a note in the computer. We went to check out in the Morning and there was no manager as promised, we were told if we waited a couple hours he would be in. Well that was a problem as we were heading to the airport to fly home. They promised me not to settle the bill until The manager called me which he never did. I called back when I arrived at my home and was told the manager wasn't in. I asked why he never called me and they had no answer. I called back the next morning and was told he would be in any moment and I asked to wait. They put me on hold and after 5 minutes they hung up the phone. I immediately called back and asked why they hung up on me and the girl got very snotty and said she didn't hang up it was a mistake. I have yet to hear from the manager to settle my bill. I called Holiday Inn Headquarters Guest relations, and after 20 minutes of telling this same story to 2 different people, was ultimately offered points. I don't want points, I want to be compensated for our aggravation. The guest relation manager at the Headquarters said she would call and email the manager at our hotel to call, and that he would have up to 48 hrs. to return my call. I asked to have the President of Holiday Inns phone number or email and they refused to give it to me. Ultimately there is noone to resolve the problem, Whatever they choose to do or not to do is their call, you have no recourse. This hotel chain is not interested in satisfying the customer or even taking care of them. They are in no way interested in your complete satisfaction, it's only lip service and Sorry's, nothing else. I will never ever return to stay at any this Holiday inn or any other. I will definitely not recommend anyone stay at the Forney, Texas Holiday Inn Express and Suites. This hotel is Dirty, understaffed and unfit to have guests. Don't waste your money.

Modern and clean design! Great for families with kids as there is an outdoor pool, a pool table,…read morelarge connect four game, and board games (ask the front attendant for options on the games). There are a lot of fun and unique seating options to chat with friends or enjoy breakfast. There are also tons of charging ports all over if you need to get some work done and don't want to be stuck in your room. Location is great. It's located off I20 and is walking distance to Buc-ee's. There are many other options around for food, coffee, treats, shopping, etc. Some examples are Starbucks, Dutch Bros, Chick-fil-A, Taco Cabana, Raising Cane's, Olive Garden, Chili's, Mod Pizza, Texas Roadhouse, Tanger Outlet, Marshall's, Beall's, & lots more. There is a movie theater across the way also but I doubt you'll need it. Tru offers free Showtime & allows for you to log into your Netflix to watch on their big screen with great sound tv. The way the room is set up, I almost thought we had surround sound. I love the big clear windows to look out and watch the sunset or sunrise. The rooms are great. Pillows range from smooshy to firm for your liking. The bed was comfortable. I really enjoyed all the cute sayings along with the shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, and hand soap. Just give them a little squeeze to get what you need. I love the walk-in shower. However be sure to face the shower head away from you when starting the water up so you don't get a wet wake up call before you are ready. There's a bar yo hold onto but also a little raised lip to put your foot on to help with shaving your legs or washing your legs and feet. Very nice. Love the extra thoughtfulness. I myself am never big on hotel breakfast. For a simple, quick bite before heading out you can't go wrong. Kids will love the mini pancakes and they have lots of fun topping options. Same for the oatmeal-lots of fun toppings. Boiled eggs, yogurt, bagels, muffins, scrambled eggs (they were out at 8:45 and never refilled them -breakfast on weekends goes until 9:30), chicken apple sausage, oranges, bananas, etc. The juice options were fun! See my pictures for the flavors. There is coffee 24/7 or so they boast. I only had it in the morning so I can't attest to the truth of that. The most impressive thing to me was the gym. I was only there an evening and traveled light so no workout for me but I want to come back just for their gym. Wow! It looks tiny and with just a few machines. Once you walk in and turn the corner you have a TRX like gym mounts, bars for balance (think ballet bar), bosu ball, large workout balls, rollers, weights, peloton bike, treadmills, elliptical, etc. I say WOW again! The coolest thing was the little touch tv screen in there. You could start a workout video and it will walk you through a workout! How neat and what a brilliant idea! Overall we thought this hotel was great & maybe we will return someday just for the hotel....& Buckee's. Lol.

Looks modern and clean when entering the lobby, and for the most part it is clean but their are exceptions, such as the desk chair in room 202 is nasty. Some of the pillows on the sofa in the dinning and recreation area are dirty. The decor, furniture, and appliances are modern, lean and overly simplistic, and somewhat nonsensical, like having a mini- fridge but no microwave or coffee pot. The desk is too small and the desk chair is uncomfortable. The bed was OK, the pillows were lousy. The soap dispensers over the vanity and in the shower are too high. They will be a problem for shorter people. The breakfast is sub-par in offerings and quality. The two days we were there the decaf was lukewarm. They do offer hard boiled eggs which provides an option to the high preservative, reconstituted scrambled eggs they serve. The room with taxes was $394 for two nights. On the upside the room AC worked great and the location is next to Buc-ees and close to restrauants.

While looking for a place to stay in Waxahachie, Texas, I came across The English Merchant Inn, a…read morebed and breakfast. This place intrigued me and decided to book this place for a week, since I was tagging along a business trip my husband had. Check in for this hotel is between 3- 6 pm. Unfortunately, my husband and I were not able to check in during that time and luckily had been able to get ahold of Howard, one of the owners of this place, and told us he would still be awake to check in until ~10 pm, when he goes to bed. But that he would leave the key in the cottage, where I had booked to get in, in case we come in after that. Howard was very nice when we met him (we ended up arriving after 9 pm). He showed us to the cottage, which is a small little place behind the main house (where there are 4 other rooms). The cottage has a king size bed with small living room. The bathroom is just a short few steps away from the sink. There is also a shower and a footed tub. I'm not a fan of baths and so I booked this place specifically for the shower. I wasn't too sure if the rooms inside the main house had showers, as I only saw photos of the footed tub (but there are a few rooms that do. I believe the room on the first floor only has a tub). The living room had a large TV and a Keurig machine with plenty of coffee and tea pods. I liked that a lovely tea set was provided to have my tea made in. As for breakfast, Howard had provided information for 3 places around town that we could get breakfast at. We ended up going to the White Rhino Coffee a few times and also El Mexicano Grill once. Overall, I would say that staying here was comfortable. Howard was very friendly and greatly appreciated him showing my husband and I a tour of the main house and most of the guest rooms (as we were the only ones staying at this bed and breakfast). But there were a few things that I want to mention that was unexpected. One was the daily housekeeping. Because my husband was at work during the day, I was staying in the cottage by myself. On our first day, my husband picked me up during his lunch so that we could pick up lunch at a nearby restaurant and then eat it at the cottage. When we came back, our door was wide open. I was surprised and thought I had forgotten to lock the door. But when I came in, I saw Tony, a friendly employee removing the sheets from our bed and putting on new ones. He told me that normally he comes by in the morning while guests typically would go out for breakfast but that he was late today. I had told him we didn't need housekeeping the next day. However, he came by, but only because I had asked Howard for some more tea pods for the Keurig, so he had Tony come by to provide new ones and clean towels. I didn't know if Tony would come but had a feeling, so I tried to take a shower very quickly when I woke up the next morning. The door that has the sink does not lock and because the way the shower and the mirror at the sink is angled, you can see someone taking a shower. This definitely made me feel uncomfortable, not knowing if Tony would come in for housekeeping and see me. Another thing that I want to mention is the train that goes all day and all night. The first morning we were here, I heard the train sounding the horn at 6:45 am and kept on going. My husband told me that typically the train will sound the horn when passing by intersections so cars know to stay back. I didn't really hear the trains too much later that first night. However, on the last night, the trains were going off all night long. I was so incredibly tired and severely sleep deprived when we woke up early the next day for our flight to fly back home to Los Angeles. I hardly was able to sleep (the train horn is very loud and you can hear it from several miles away). Also just wanted to mention that I heard a rooster around 6:30 am every morning and also heard the rooster in the afternoon each day. Same with hearing dogs barking. These noises didn't bother me but the train sound was definitely a problem. Of course these outside noises are not the fault of The English Merchant Inn but wanted to mention them. I really enjoyed my stay in the cottage at The English Merchant Inn but not entirely sure if I can stay again with all the noise. Where the majority of hotels are in this city, they are on the outskirts of town. According to my husband (he has traveled to Waxahachie several times for work), you can't hear the trains from the hotels, where he stayed before). If I was to stay here again, I would have to bring some really good ear plugs to block out all the noise for a restful night's sleep.

Entering our room the cracked flooring and dirty bedcovers were a taste of things to come. Unfortunately, we did not heed this and unpacked our children, bags, and pet dog. The toilet in the bathroom does not flush, the handle in the shower is falling off, and a dead cricket resides in the corner of the bathroom floor. After a brief discussion we decided to just keep the room, it was after midnight following a long day of driving. Sometime around 2 am a crew of workers began doing maintenance on the room upstairs, they stomped around and used powertools for at least 2 hours. I was able to drown out the sound a bit with the extremely loud bathroom fan. This was the most expensive (by far) and worst motel (by far) of our trip. As a final note, there are very few cars in the parking lot leading me to believe this is one of their better rooms or that they do not have any idea about the conditions of the rooms (or maintenance schedule) in their hotel. Do not stay here. Negative stars.

I booked this through a site after some fairly decent reviews. I have said most of my peace through…read morethe website. (I ranted and rated with no stars with no email reply or call back). This hotel is way too proud of their crap rooms to be charges over $70 per night. This area is too nice to have a crap hotel like this! So apparently if you book this place and enter your card information - you're not paying for the hotel. They'll make you pay when you get there and then charge you. (I ended up with 2 charges and had to get my bank to correct it). The front desk gal for night time was very young and maybe inexperienced. So we get to the room and it smells like no one has turned on the A/C for a few weeks, so we crank it down to cool off on this ungodly humid May evening. It looks likes someone slapped some recent pant on the walls. Next to the bed on the wall shared with the bathroom is tow LARGE dents like either a head or multiple fists/objects had tried to make a new opening. In the bathroom there was mold along the edging and some type of little black bug on the towel hanging over the side. There was not free or complimentary soap in the room to be found. Literally the one thing I pray I don't have to haul around and you can't offer a 5 cent bottle of soap for the shower?! We get in bed - with very light, thin sheets and realize there are only 3 tiny thin pillows for 2 people. We call the front desk and ask for at least 1 more. We are told that we'll have to walk all the way to the lobby for it. Granted, there were 2 ladies there at the front just minutes before, but not one of them could walk down to our room where we are paying to stay?! So the spouse marches over and gets this extra pillow. We quickly find out midway through the night that the A/C unit has a mind of its own when we nearly turn to ice pops. But when we tried to turn the A/C up a bit, it wanted to sweat us out. The sheets were too thin to be frozen but the humidity was too strong to sweat. I'm not sure I got any decent sleep that night. Just don't come here. Drive an extra 10 minutes to the next town and get a better room!

There's lots of homeless people outside and not safe in my opinion. Just beware when booking. There wasn't many highly rated restaurants near Omni hotel, had to drive to places. They also host lots of events outside the hotel on their lawn. Hotel is nice. Staffs are super polite and trained. Everything is clean and super decorative. Hotel has restaurants on the first floor, they have small pool, small gym, and spa which you have to pay for. I stayed for two weeks and needed my clothes washed. The hotel does have a service where they send it out to get it washed. But it was insanely expensive. To wash a shirt was around $10. It would have cost me like $150-$200 for a week worth of clothes. I drove 20 min to the nearest coin laundry and spent couple dollars. Would love to see coin laundry in the hotel. Gym: The gym has dumbbells that only go up to 75lb. No barbells. The machine to do back, arms, etc were uncomfortable to use. Pool: Pool is on the same floor as the gym. Can see downtown Dallas. I think it's infinity pool(?) but it's pointing to the hotel building rather than facing downtown Dallas. Room: Room was super nice. The A/C is amazing, works very well. As soon as I got back to room, I set room to 62F. Then to 68F when i got cold. I stayed for 14 days and found out on my last day that there's a fridge hidden in the cabinet. I was super upset about that. The soaps, shampoo, etc are nice. The staff gives you new set even if you are using them and not empty. Price: My rate was $170 through business portal. So probably cheaper. For 14 days (13 nights), I paid little over $3000 due to various taxes and parking your rental car is like $30(?) a day.
